Though I'm not much into reading and specially Hindi literature, this book came my way because I'm from the same school and shared 3 initial years of my school life with the books time period. So at least to some extent I may be biased or personal with this review ( however I don't claim to know the author at any level and am confident that he would not have heard of me).
The language of the book is pretty smooth and sir has very beautifully introduced the humor in the stories of our routine life. I'll admit that at places it'll be difficult for a non ghorakhali to understand few incidents, but I'm sure people will be able to relate with it in context of there own hostel experience. It's after reading this book that I realised many subtleties of our school life retrospectively, warna to kewal bakar mein hi jindagi ka anklan karte rah jate hain.
The story more or less follows a chronological order starting with admission in class 6 and ending with passing out from 12. However in between, the author takes small liberties to occasionally jump forward or backward in time for a while. This aspect has its own charm and I think was required for the context of the chapter.
You cannot write a story of 7 years of your life especially your young innocent formative years. It has to be an account or an autobiography kind of thing, otherwise how do you include so many stories, so many people and so many places in 240 pages.
As a ghorakhali, I'm happy that it's a sincere effort and successful also.
Any hostel going individual will be able to relate with it at some level and make some new realisations after reading the book.
Congrats sir and best of luck for future endeavours.

💚 'Half Ticket Ghode' is a collection of short stories that are so beautifully written that it can make you escape from the worries for a while.
.
.
💚 Reading this book was such a paradise for me as it made me revisit the heavenly moments of my life.
.
.
💚 This book is the story of a school going buy who had to go and stay in a hotel. The chapters are basically the enteries made in his diary.
.
.
💚 This book is all about a child's innocence at it's best along with fun moments of school life like class punishment, school friendships and all.
.
.
💚 Every chapter had new characters and that made the book little less impressive as the stories were not sequenced well. The author can do better at that in his next book.
.
.
💚 The narration was good and easy to read. I believe that some Hinglish words added to this Hindi book could be avoided.
💚 Overall, it was a good read filled with fun and joy.

This book impersonates an anecdote - where the central character reminisces his childhood days in the form of dairy entry. The author has made this book really funny. It talks about the 90s when phone was a luxury, innocence was high, when people used to work hard for mere provisions & hospitalities.
The book has a series of short stories in the form of chapters. With every new story bringing forth a new composition of characters, places, stories, etcetera.

Narration is good. It got me nostalgic about my school days. I reminisced about my childhood days. They were the best days of my life. Its a touchy book with a sensitive approach!

It's a story of a boy who starts living in hostel and how his life was in those days, his experience, his learnings, fun, pain, how he adapts to new life and starts enjoying, etc. As I have stayed all my life with parents the book was entertaining and in a sense new. It's always fun to read about childhood because of innocence, one gets to relive and refresh ones own childhood life and days.
Book is very well written and characters, incidents are easily relatable. Language used is simple.
Book title and cover are so apt to the story.
All in all a nice book to read. Read to refresh your childhood.

The story is of a guy who left to another city from a small town for studies.

His entire journey, emotions of the family departure , student-life, studies, friendships and what he learnt from it is depicted.

It's basically more like when suddenly teenagers leave for different places or country how they find themselves in a mixed and impaired state of mind. So, how they entirely feel and go through alone is here.

Honestly, the hindi language is detoriated here due to overusage of 'Hinglish' terms. It could have been saved atleast in this part.

Storywise it's fine.

Book- Half Ticket Ghode
Author- Abir Anand
Language- Hindi

My Review-

Written in Hindi, this book is about a boy who is startled by life when he's thrown into hostel. I kind of liked the plot because I recently moved into a hostel for the first time in my life. So I could feel his emotions well.

The language is simple. It was quite a nostalgic read for me. If you live in a hostel then you should check out this one. If you are new to Hindi then it's easy enough. So don't hesitate to pick this up.
