Have we met? No? Well it's time to end that tragedy.
I'm a former firefighter/EMS guy who's picked up the proverbial pen and started writing bad boy romance stories. I co-write with my sister, Ali Parker, but live in Texas with my wife, my two little boys, my daughter, two dogs, three cats, and a turtle.
Yep. A turtle. You read that right. Don't be jealous.
You're going to find Billionaires, Bad Boys, Military Guys and loads of sexiness.
Something for everyone, hopefully. I'd love to connect with you. Check out the links below and come find me.
Blurb is misleading - at least to this reader. It states "I’ve not loved or lusted in a long time, but there’s something about her". I initially interpreted this line to mean that Hero has an ex love in his past and that is why he is closed off, however, there was no mention of OW in this story or of him loving anyone before heroine which is the only reason that I finished it as I hate this trope.
All in all, this was a safe read with NO CHEATING, NO OM or OW drama, heroine is a virgin & hero is not. However, this was a snoozefest for me with characters that didn't have much chemistry or dialogue and no real plot.
Hero is in the business of selling artifacts and he finds heroine's father in his home late at night trying to steal something. He makes a deal with the father to have his daughter work on his books as someone is stealing money from the company. Heroine is not aware of the deal and by the time she is, they have been in a relationship. Heroine confronts her father, gets a satisfactory answer, she & Hero make up and The End.
The story line was good, the writing was good, the sex was boring. I just skipped thru tmi. After you have read one detailed account of someone else having sex the reading is a complete bore.
Yes, yes, and yes, this is how you do a bad boy romance. His casual stuff is in the past and barely mentioned. There is no OM/OW sex scenes or flirting or anything. That happens a lot in books by this author, so I'm hesitant to read his books, but when he writes like this, this is why I keep reading his books. Every once in awhile he will write something "safe" like this.
Besides making me happy by being a safe book, the story was sweet and unique. There were parts that were very real and true to the human spirit, I guess you could say. There was talk about grief, different aspects of a person that makes he or she serm different depending on who you ask, love, friendship, sadness, forgiveness, and more. His back and forth between trusting her and not and wanting to be with her and then not was annoying but understandable given the situation.
I really enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it.
Sweet story about Sophie and Andrew. He’s and antiquities dealer whose company has encountered some hard times since the death of his father. When he catches Rick, one of his father’s business customers in his home office rifling through boxes of antiques and architectural dig finds, he knows the man is set to steal from him. Rick devises a plan whereby his 26 year old daughter, Sophie will work for Andrew to keep him from turning him over to the police. Thus begins a journey filled with heart stopping memories and healing when Andrew finds there is more to life than working. Sophie is that bright light, drawing Andrew in learning to love. It’s a mixed bag on development. On one half, the storyline draws you in has you mesmerized but long about three-fourths through the book, it starts to drag, and I found myself skimming through pages to get to the inevitable, their HEA.
Andrew, the wealthy owner of an antiquities business finds Rick, his father’s best friend, in his office after breaking into the house and opening crates like he’s stealing a valuable historical piece. Andrew was livid and was ready to turn him in to the police until Rick offered his daughter to come and work for him to straighten his financial records which he knows was quite a mess. His daughter Sophie is a brilliant accountant so they made a deal as a fair trade. She arrives to work for Andrew but she had no idea of what transpired that night. He was rude to her in the beginning but their attraction to each other was undeniable. This story is not Weston’s best but it’s an okay read. I’ll give it a 3.5 stars.
It was a well written book but I couldn't get over the fact that Sophie immediately blamed Andrew for what her father did. She did not even grovel to win his trust back and I hated that. I wanted Andrew to be the brooding man he was before they got together and make her work to be with him again. Also the fact that her father broke into Andrew's house was scraped under the bus because he was there for a sentimental antique. I'm sorry but if everyone got a slap on the wrist for breaking and entering who knows where the world would be. I tried to continue the story but I just lost interest when Andrew invited Sophie back to the mansion. It felt like she got off easy and he was too willing to take her back. If you don't mind what I've written then it's a good book to read.

Emotional growth and difficult journeys in this romance read
Sophie, a barista and part-time bookkeeper, gets volunteered to work for Andrew, owner of an antiquities company, when her father is caught breaking in to Andrew's house. As the story progresses tensions rise, feelings change, and the truth could end it all. Weston Parker's Fair Trade for Love provides an interesting take on Beauty and the Beast in modern times, bringing emotional growth and difficult journeys to his readers in this romance read.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
Trope: I think he was going for a beauty and the beast story? Not quite sure. How Far I Got: 24% Why I Stopped: This story made NO SENSE. I was willing to give some latitude with the story line because a B&B story is farfetched if you examine it too closely, but when the H refused to speak to the h- who he 'hired' as an accountant for his company and instead let his BUTLER tell the h what to do for the job?!? You couldn't throw in a trusted secretary? The writing was poor, the connections between characters lacking- I just had to stop! I didn't go into this expecting a B&B wannabe and the quality of writing wasn't there to keep my attention.
Such depth of feeling was overwhelming. This read was beautiful and romantic I honestly cried during the entire process of Sophie stressing and Andrew relieving it by giving her her fairytale wedding...a spontaneous, stress-free, straight-out of her 6th grade folder no less! Marvellous. Andrew and Sophie's story is spell binding, their attraction a sizzling build up. They go through so much with misunderstandings and a break up that tears at the heart strings. Yeah loved this book. A well deserved 5 star plus I reckon.
I really tried to get into this, but it was really slow paced and a bit boring. The male MC was judgmental and not a really friendly character even to the butler who was we are told is practically his family (only family now actually). I just wasn’t enticed by any of the characters or plot, and by 35% you hope that something would make you keep turning those pages. Not for me... and I hardly never DNF a book.
Andrew and Sophie had a unique story. Sophie was loyal to her father till the end. Although the situation could have been resolved if her father had just made a phone call, she had no problem doing the accounting work to save her father. The story was involved and the characters were well developed. You knew where everyone stood in their beliefs and actions.
In the beginning I thought "What kind of a scumbag is Rick to give his daughter away to save his skin?" Then I thought "How dumb is Sophie to go there" But reading further into the story you find the answers and more twists and turns even in Andrew's life. This is a very different storyline and I found it pulled me into the story right from the get go and kept me there. I really liked this book.
I've been reading romance novels for a long time ! So many are the same old thing. This book was very well written, there was some up and down. But it was real down to earth and relatable. The way Mr. Parker had the characters react so normal. If you want something a little different from the normal books that romance are beginning to be, check out Mr. Parker 'a books. Well done sir well done. Looking forward to my next Weston Parker book!
I didn't hate it. ;) Oh, these types of books are my guilty pleasure and I too often do feel guilty for reading and enjoying them. Yes, I enjoyed Fair Trade For Love. So shoot me. *sigh* It's cute and exactly what I look for in a romance novel. I love that it's partially written by a man. :)
The total package - swoon-worthy love and a romantic feel-good ending!
FAIR TRADE FOR LOVE is a total-package romance with a awesome feel-good ending! It is also STEAMY, well-written, and full of fantastic characters that will warm a reader's heart. FAIR TRADE FOR LOVE should be part of any romance reader's library!
I loved this story between Andrew and Sophie. It wasn’t your usual scenario. He was a tough gruff antiquities dealer. She was a free spirited accountant/ barista. They come together through an unusual circumstance and find the surprise of love and a different life than they had planned.
Ok. So the writing style and editing were fine. But the dude is super oddly broody. So broody that he was flat and boring. And omg. Reading about her accounting degree and what she was actually helping him with was painful. It was so off. I couldnt take it anymore. Story wasnt interesting enough to read through the pain.
NO SPOILERS GIVEN ....Weston Parker is one of my favorite authors right now. I have been writing for the last three years and really struggling. After reading 5 of Weston's books he has inspired me to write more "simply." Mr. Parker has a way of telling a story and keeping it simple. His books are romantic, sexy, and keeps you wanting more. Huge fan.......5 Stars.
The book started out on a strong note but simply lost its tension, angst and just overall general appeal to me by the 30%. I liked Andrew at first he was edgy and dismissive towards Sophie. But then he just gave into her every little whim and the somewhat Alpha that he was just lost his Midas touch. I skimmed the rest of the book to the end.
Fair Trade For Love: A Billionaire Had Boy Romance
Lots of turns and trusts in this story.Awesome in many ways. Romantic relationship between all the character's in this story. Andrew and Sophie had ruff start in their relationship but became friends. Must read to find out what happened next with this exciting story! ENJOY
Honestly I was a little skeptical when I first started reading it. But I just became so engrossed in the book that by the end I was so sad to read the ending. This is a great book about Andrew and Sophie I fell in love with them plus Liam!
Another brilliant read by the wonderful talented Weston. I loved this story. Loved the storyline and the characters and their connections. Absolutely loved Andrew and Sophie and their story. Loved Kaddy and Liam. Adored little Nina. A Wonderful HEA tova wonderful story.
I just loved Andrew and Sophie 's story!! The way they got together was different in a way but I loved it!! They made such a great couple and Sophie brought out the sweet kind and gentle side of Andrew!! I would recommend this book to anyone!
Ok, I'm gonna stop here in the middle of this book and I'm not going to give it another moment. This book is going to boring; I'm not even going to finish it and I'm sure of it. And for the record, this not even a Bad Boy Romance. He's just rich.
This book had heart and lots of love and some anguish. The story line was unique and very engrossing to read unfold. Happiness is what it is all about.
I absolutely loved reading this book. I couldn't stop until I finished. The author did a fantastic job keeping you interested until the. very end. Keep up the good work, looking forward to your next book.
