Although most of my questions raised from the first book were answered, there were still some unresolved and I had the feeling that the author was in a light rush to develop the second book.
Nevertheless, I really liked this duet.

Delightfully Dark

Professionally written, “Fallen Petal” is part two of the “Petal” duet, ending the mystery of Petals identity and history, revealing both the motives as well as connotations behind her memory loss. The suspenseful mystery continues nearly to the end, managing to keep readers engaged and on edge until the story’s conclusion. The narrative is well paced, exposing subtle hints along the way to astute readers and delivering several twists to the enigmatic story-line. This is a darkly erotic romance and the psychological aspects of the story are not imbued in fact but nevertheless a highly entertaining, fictional piece with just a touch of the preternatural.

“Fallen Petal”, as its predecessor “Lost Petal” contains material that some readers may find objectionable such as imprisonment, unequal power dynamic and harsh BDSM practices leaving welts, bruises, minor lacerations as well as the questionable ethics of a mental health professional.

Disclaimer: No Kindles were seriously harmed while reading this novel. Children 18+ only due to sexually explicit content.

Disclaimer for the Disclaimer… The term “seriously harmed” is not intended to include: overheating, scorch marks, minor melting or inconsequential fire that can be put out with an extinguisher. Fire retardant gloves highly recommended while reading. Reviewer is not responsible for run-on sentences, questionable grammar or misplaced commas.

«I suck in a sharp breath when I hear the lock of the door opening, hurrying to my spot on the carpet, at the foot of the bed, about ten feet away from the door, sinking down on my knees and lowering my gaze just in time before he steps inside. His steps are calm and deliberate as always, and I wait in tense anticipation until he comes to a halt right in front of me, placing his hand on the back of my head.
“Good girl.”»

Let me tell you, if this were not a duet, hadn't tried too hard to be mysterious and created too much inner dialogue, the book would have been better. Tastier.

I'm rating 3 but this one's better than the first book.
What makes this one better is not the revealed secrets, nor the erotic parts.
Of course erotic scenes matter but not that much lol which was not enough.

«“No use for clothes,” he replies, adding a little yank at my collar. “This is all you need. Just a little something missing.”»

Like, a leash...

It was a pleasure to read the emotions and thoughts that neither of them could control, since we are reading more 'relationship' oriented here. Nevertheless I don't like the idea of "I love her so I let her go", I wish he'd stalked her, not let anyone into her life, like the way he always watched her from afar, after she came back or before she left. Because the love he feels for her so deep n' has so much potential.

«The leash is not meant to stop her from escaping, it’s simply a tool for my own enjoyment. And hers.»

such a waste

AHHH! This book really brought the duet to life! I was a bit lost when I read Lost Petal because there were so many plot points missing. But it can clearly be seen why! The duet emphasizes mystery and confusion so readers can slowly unveil the truth just as our heroine Petal does. I think Linnea May did an absolute lovely job writing these books and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something a bit different, slightly dark, yet still innocent in a way. LOVED IT.

Side note: I felt that a lot of the questions were answered through this conclusion. Book 1 left me restless and extremely confused, so I’m so glad book 2 unfolded J and Petal’s story nicely. The only place I felt needed more was Maila’s place and future.

This is the conclusion to this dark and delicious duet. Jayson and Petal's story continues to unfold with lots of drama, powerful emotions and intensity. There are so many twists and turns in this series and the will keep you fully engaged and entertained. Suspenseful, steamy and intriguing, you do not want to pass this duet by. By my own accord I am posting a truthful review.

Petal & Jayson’s Story continues and we learn more about why Jayson is keeping Petal. This book definitely had parts I didn’t see coming. Really great story with great characters that had me glued from the start.

This is the conclusion to Petal and Jayson's story. There are so many secrets in Petal's life. Who is the one with the most. Her dad, Christopher, Malia, or Jayson himself, who is supposed to be helping Petal. They each carry their own, some to heal, some to hurt. Question is. Who will come out on top. Them, or Petal?

Petal goes through so much in this book. So many transformations, and discoveries to get to the heart of her. Of who she really is. With her own warring emotions, she's not sure at times, if she wants to know who she is, or why she's there with Jayson.

Jayson, the one that knows the deepest parts of her, the one who took them away, and the only one able to fully bring them back, or leave her as she is. But with others working against him, it's harder than ever for him to stay with the agreement planned ahead of time.

This book is crazy good. The chemistry between Jason and Petal is hot, and explosive. There from start to finish. Petal and Jayson's emotions bleed off the pages, and you can't help but feel them. This was the perfect ending to their story, and I so much loved every bit of it.

Well, Linnea May, you got me. I can usually figure out a mystery long before I come anywhere near the ending, but not this time.

And kudos to this author for another extremely well written and developed character driven story. This is the second book of a duet, so you have to read the first book, Lost Petal, before you even consider delving into this second half of the story.

Petal's memory remains significantly impaired in every respect, although the small insight her best friend, Malia, showed her validated her feeling of safety with Jayson, the man demanding she call him Master who was apparently holding her hostage. As time and the story progresses, Petal begins to have some more vague memory recollections and the reader gets even more background and history about what occurred prior to Petal's total memory loss.

Ultimately, all the questions are answered in this very intriguing story. That is, except possibly for one. What happened to Malia in Atlantic City and why wasn't she answering her phone?

My brain has just been twisted into uncomprehending goo. If ‘Total Recall’ were bent all out of shape and turned into a dark romance, I think it would have a lot in common with this story. This book takes an unflinching look at who we are because of what we remember. Would we still be the same people without certain key memories? I knew that Jayson and Petal’s story was going to be the equivalent of putting my brain in a blender and pressing frappe, but I had to read it anyway. It is so compelling. The emotions and chemistry spark from the page. And the author has even added more than a touch of her signature intrigue to the story. Which, I confess, had me nearly hyperventilating as we neared the end of the book. My reader wasn’t the only thing that melted, my brain has too.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.

This is the the second book in the duet and must be read after Lost Petal. If you haven’t read Lost Petal, skip this review or face spoilers! There is so much we don't know going into this story. The author does a superb job of a slow reveal of their histories while building their current relationship. I loved the suspense and tension. I didn’t feel like I knew the characters well until the second half of this book-who was good, who was honest-but once this became clear, it all fit together perfectly. I am going to have to read this again, now that I understand the story better, because this is one of those books that will be richer for a second read. Superb dark romance.

I am voluntarily leaving my opinion of a review copy of this book.

Petal watches a few seconds of a video with her in it, telling herself that she's exactly where she wants to because she needs Jayson to help her and she can trust him. Petal has no idea why she's there or what Jayson's helping her with but she'll try to make the most of this strange situation. Famous mesmerist Jayson Bowlan has loved Petal forever and finally has her the way he's wanted for so long. But Jayson's not the only person who wants Petal and he's willing to do anything to have Petal all to himself, including getting rid of Jayson. Is this the end for Petal and Jayson?

Lost Petal is a dark, intriguing and suspenseful story full of twists and turns that will grab your interest from start to end

Wow , the conclusion to Jayson and Petal's story truly blew me away with this exciting ,intense and ingenious plot. I really loved Jayson & Petal throughout the whole story and love Ms Linnea's incredible writing . It all fits together so perfectly though . How easily can you manipulate and control another person by just saying or doing the "right" or "wrong" things - it's kind of creepy to think about . I loved every minute of this second part and if you love twisted and dark with a good storyline then I highly recommend these duo books "Lost-and Fallen Petal " .
It would be great if there's another story to come about Petal's best friend Malia .

Continuation of Lost Petal in Petal Series.

Shocks! I Love how this story works, the circling things, secrets that Petal not once lost her memory. And If I were her, I would do that to myself too. Her father protectiveness choke her, she couldn't do what she wants, she couldn't choose who will she love and because of that Petal run with Jayson, seeks help and the story turns out pretty satisfying as the story unfold from the past. Why Petal want to lost her memory with the help of Jayson who was inlove with her for decades.

And Christopher he's a psycho, he's inlove with Petal but Petal didn't reciprocate his feelings that's why he turns into that.

Fallen petal is a story that leaves you wanting more. Petal knows that many things are missing, but somehow believes that Jayson for whatever reason won't destroy her. Petal knows that there is more going on than she can remember and tries by any means she can to try to discover why, what, and when this was her new life. Trapped inside her head unable to remember who she is and why she trusts Jayson this was a captivating read with plenty of heartache and betrayal rejection drama action and her hidden secrets and disries are brought out in very unexpected ways. A thrilling and at times disturbing read. Highly recommended read.

What a fantastic end to this duet! The continuing story of Jayson and Petal has me mesmerized from the very beginning! So much so, that I read it in one sitting. Petal knows deep in her mind and heart, that she somehow knows Jayson, but with her memory impaired, she’s just not sure how. But she does know they have a deep bond and attraction that she is bound and determined to find out why. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat as so many questions get answered. The chemistry between these characters is so real and so hot. And the way this author writes, you can feel the emotions between them down to your very soul. I don’t want to give away too much, but suffice it to say that this duet is a definite must read! But make sure you read Lost Petal first!

This book answered all the questions brought forth in book 1 which was nice. Overall, this is an odd duology. Cute story in the end, but still an odd one. Parts felt rushed, but these are on the shorter side. I think these could have been awesome books with a little bit more development. I appreciated the mystery and why we didn't see a "before", but while everything is emerging, we could have seen a lot of character development, especially through her as she discovers her new self, as well as discovering who he really is.

This is a very dark romance.

It is an amazing thing that one is able to take away things from your memory individually or your full memory. I like that this story begins in the present, an extension of the first book (Lost Petal) that ended with a cliffhanger. It then slowly tells every few chapters about the past and what Petal wanted Jayson to do with her memory. Sometimes it does not sit well with me when they go into the past, but the way this book is written, it is done very well and I was pleased with it. I can't wait to read Linnea May's next book.

I could NOT wait for Fallen Petal to come out. The first book gave us so much to go with on questions but very little answers to anything. The main one being why is this happening to Petal. And what was she looking at at the very end of book 1.

We get all those answers and more so much more. J is Petal's protector even when he doesn't seem like it. Petal needs this to work even if she doesn't know it. But sometimes things don't always work out for the best.

This conclusion is awesome! If you are looking for a dark, sexy, hot, mysterious story this is the duet for you

Every page will have you hooked. The chemistry between Petal and Jayson is breathtaking. She craves darkness and Jayson is the one to give her everything her heart desires. Such a wild ending to this dark duet, and I floved it. I was suspicious, but this has me blown away. I was captivated start to finish. The real villain is a jolt! Jayson was such a great character. I wish Malia would have been stronger for her friend... She just seemed to flake out at the end of the story. I would like to get more of Malia's story.

I love both parts of this duet. While the first part was dark, confusing, nerve-wracking, the second part, although as thrilling as the first one, answered all questions and revealed the true colors of every character. Emotional roller coaster continued in this book, making the Petal duet one of the best psychological thrillers I read lately.

This was a fascinating book to read, it unfolds for the reader much as Petal's understanding of her life unfolds. Just as the reader becomes impatient for answers, Ms. May gives an insight just as Jayson does to Petal, it is fascinating and compelling and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Just like Lost Petal I absolutely devoured this book! Every twist, every page had you guessing and intrigued until the very end. Also you truly felt every emotion both Petal and Jayson were feeling the entire time. I was so satisfied with the (shocking and then beautiful) ending of this duet, Petal and Jayson now hold a very special place in my heart. Thank you Linnea and if someday you decide to give us more of Petal and Jayson, I’d love that. 🥰📚
