Willow McCray is a witch who can take care of herself and blurs the lines between self-preservation and vigilante. From the moment she sees Alex, a sizzling attraction burns inside her. When she discovers who Alex is and that her best friend has been brutally murdered, she teams up with Alex as a psychic to find the serial killer who’s exterminating witches and absorbing their powers across the city. The closer they get to discovering who the killer is, the hotter the passion ignites between Willow and Alex. Willow doesn’t want to be a one-night stand but she can’t deny how she feels. As they explore their new relationship, the killer has its sights set on Willow. Will Alex be able to protect her from the serial killer or will Alex lose his nerve once again?

Wow, this book made my heart race and plunge to my feet as I was reading it. There’s so much to this story than just the passion between Willow and Alex. There’s suspenseful scenes with everyone trying to catch the serial witch killer. There’s the hateful bias Alex has against witches. There’s the family dynamics of a coven and overcoming bad feelings to work together for the common good. There’s the loneliness Willow feels and her yearnings to be a part of a family. There’s action, magic and romance which brings everything together in one gripping story.

The writing is so well done, I didn’t want to put it down. I kept thinking about who the killer may be and why it is murdering these witches in such a sadistic way when I wasn’t reading. A few plot twists I didn’t see coming made me gasp aloud. The ending was just, wow! It whets my appetite for the next book.

If you’re looking for an urban fantasy which will keep you enthralled, pick up Midnight Desire today. I can’t wait to read more!

Favorite Character/Quote: Willow. She seriously kicks butt and I love that about her. She reminds me of Faith in Buffy. A lonely woman who hides behind a mask of sarcasm. Her growth throughout the book is immense and I can’t wait to see what she does next.

My Rating: 5+ stars

This romance kick starts an intriguing and thrilling new series with strong, unflinching characters that easily draw readers to them. The hero and heroine are opposites of each other in a way as Willow doesn’t exactly follow the letter of the law and Alex is all about putting the bad guys away but in truth they are more alike than they would like to admit as they both do whatever it takes to get the job done. The chemistry between sizzles with lots of heat and has sparks flying in every direction as they struggle to fight their attraction while searching for a killer and they both some personal issues to overcome if they want to live to see any kind of happily ever after which makes these characters more lifelike and real to readers.

The fast pace and smooth flowing plot exhilarates readers with lots of hold your breath danger and thrilling twists and turns that keeps readers on their toes. The evil bad guy is also a strong character, one that sends chills down the readers’ spine and has them wanting to help Alex and Willow subdue or definitely see that he gets what he deserves. The author has created a world with an intriguing paranormal law enforcement agency is open to all sorts of possibilities as well as fascinating characters that readers can really sink their teeth into.

Willow McCray is a witch running away from her past. Alex Denopoulos is an agent with the Magickal Bureau of Investigations. He joins forces with Willow to catch evil men. The two are complete opposites. Willow doesn't always follow the rules and Alex likes to play everything by the book. I really enjoyed watching the two of them try to work together while also fighting their attraction to each other. The chemistry was off the charts! This book is filled with action, snark and sexual tension.. there really isn't a better combination.

This is the first book in what looks to be a very exciting paranormal series. I am looking forward to the next book.

I received this book from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Kick-ass witch, Willow McCray must use her powers for good if she hopes to stay out of the mage prison Hellios, too bad the sexy MBI agent she is supposed to assist has a thing against witches and felons in this riveting paranormal romance. The author has created a fascinating new paranormal world full of interesting elements and intriguing characters including some hot and sexy possible book boyfriends and promises to be an entertaining series. Since, I was completely enthralled from the very beginning and I can’t wait to find out what happens next in Ravens Hollow, I will be keeping my eye on this new author.

Willow McCray is trying to escape he past when she meets Alex Denpoulos and he recruits her to work for the Magickal Bureau of Investigations. But can they work together while dealing with their feelings towards each other, good and bad, as well as the evil that's coming.

This is the first book i have read by this author so i wasn't sure what to expect, but it is definitely worth reading. It is full of action and romance and the chemistry between the main two characters is strong. It is a fast paced book that will keep you reading.

Meh. Had potential and the opening chpt was good and Willow seemed both competent and kick ass. Unfortunately we don’t see much more of the super cool Willow who kicks Alex's ass in her search for Maeve. All too soon she is replaced by guilt ridden Willow who feels she has to make up for her 'criminal' past and gives into Alex every time he kisses her despite saying she doesn’t want to pursue their attraction and having sound reasons for this. Like his judgemental stick up the butt hot n cold behaviour. And that brings me to their relationship which was the main focus of the story. It is basically unbridled hormones and chemistry and lust. I didn’t buy them as a couple and found Alex pretty unlikable. I like Willow just fine except in relation to her behaviour with Alex. And also her guilt over working for Tristain seemed excessive. From what I could tell she didn’t know about his criminal enterprises and just did some slightly shady business consulting, attempting to leave (and having a hit put on her as a result) soon as she found out. Not sure how that equates to evil criminal behaviour deserving of judgement, contempt and imprisonment in a place for dangerous criminals. But whatever. Would have liked it a lot bet if they toned done the uncontrollable I can’t help myself but give in lust for more of a we have to work together and built a connection/feelings relationship and let Willow be more alpha and kick ass rather than giving in to Alex most of the time.

Favorite Lines “All you can do for her now is to try to find her killer,”

“I know in my heart you would never hurt anyone,” she whispered, running her fingers through his hair. “Let it all go.”
The sound of her silky voice in his ear made his breath catch in his throat. All the anger and guilt he’d been holding onto all these years suddenly seemed to float away. He felt lighter and happier than he had in years.”

“She couldn’t predict her own death, but she’d finally come to the realization— any moment could be her last. It was only a matter of time—she was probably going to die.”

“Please come back to me, to this life,”

Watch out we have a new fabulous author! This book was an emotional, action packed, YUMMINESS ride!
Willow is a strong, sexy, sassy witch who is looking for her best friend. In walks a oh so sexy Alex. Alex is a cop who hates witches and is sexy as sin. Someone is killing witches and Alex needs Willow's help to catch this killer.
Willow and Alex has some sexual tension like you wouldn't believe! Can Alex get over his hate of witches and let Willow in? Oh you gotta read this one!
This author does an amazing job! She sucks you in and leaves you wanting more!
This is an author I will continue to watch out for!

3.5 stars, good but it's just this close to be my favorite.

This book is the first Shari Nichols I've read and I like it.

Willow is a bada$$ witch! She's strong, independent and brave and even though she's all those things, she's still vulnerable. She needs Alex's help to find her friend, Meave, but the thing is, Alex, the agent of the MBI, the Magik Bureau of Investigations, hates witches so much. Sparks fly and as much as they hates each other, they also needs each other. What will happen next?

I'm not a huge fan of paranormal romance. I rarely read this genre, because I prefer to read contemporary romance. But this book, surprisingly, is better than I thought it would be. There are times when the writing is a bit confusing and there's too much going on, but in the end, I'm hooked! I loved how dependable Alex is yet he has this moment when he needs Willow. I think this couple complete each other without really knowing it.

Overall, look forward to read the next installment of the series! <3

This is a paranormal romance that doesn’t pull any punches on the danger and the gore, and it’s got plenty of action, magick and romance. Characters are well developed in this story and Willow is a tough witch with a heart of gold that has strong psychic powers. Alex is a mortal that works for the Magickal Bureau of Investigations and is paired with Willow as his partner when the Bureau gives Willow the option of spending the rest of her life in Hellios (a magickal prison) or becoming a part of the team. When her best friend is murdered, she is partnered with Alex, who detests witches. But the longer Alex and Willow are together – the more both of them will be able to resist the attraction. As more witches are murdered, Alex will stop at nothing to keep Willow safe.

I was very glad to see this is the first book in a series. It’s got my attention and the twists and turns in this suspenseful fantasy that kept me whipping the pages on my Kindle to see what happens next. I am fully in on this series.

I went into this new-to-me-author’s book with high hopes as I’m always looking for new authors…like I really need to. RME! LOL! Anyway, I was immediately drawn into the story, and I really liked the main character; Willow had lots of spunk and was an interesting character. I did like the plot, and the side characters were fun, as well. At times, I did feel that we were lacking some details that should have been shared sooner, or something that had already been shared could have saved the day if it was “remembered.” Minor issues. However, these slight things didn’t bog me down much. All-in-all, I will read the next book and can’t wait to read it. Good paranormal romance. I recommend this book and was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Although this novel could benefit from more editing, as several errors slipped through the cracks, it was still a very enjoyable read. The characters have strong personalities and show depth and growth. The antagonist is truly evil and although it was at times disturbing to read, his madness really helped showcase Willow's goodness and strength of will. There's also a fair amount of action, as well as a rather steamy romance. I would definitely consider reading more from this author! *Update: I've been told the errors have been corrected now :)

Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book from Book Sirens and am leaving a review voluntarily.

Witch Willow McCray is out to discover what happened to her bestie Maeve, which is why she’s at Fusion, a smoky, heavy metal bar, dressed in an overflowing bustier and prowling for men. Her claws are extended to find out what happened to Maeve who’s been with her since their early days in foster care.

Willow thinks she’s got the culprit when super smooth, sex incarnate Alex Denopoulos comes on to her. Leading him outside, she attacks but soon enough Willow is the one on the ground when she ends up in cuffs and transported to the Magickal Bureau of Investigations. When the agents give Willow a choice - help them find a serial killer targeting witches - or go to mage prison for breaking the Wiccan rule of “An ye harm none, do what ye will,” Willow knows she needs to help them save fellow witches.

In the meantime, however, Alex and Willow are drawing closer and can’t seem to keep their hands off of each other. Just how far is each of them willing to go in the face of grave danger?

This book was actually really fun! I loved feisty, red-haired Willow. She knows she’s made a bit of a mess of her life lately, but that doesn’t stop her from wanting to end her self-induced celibacy. And Alex, a smoldering human agent, actually has a mysterious, deep-seated aversion to anything witchy, but you can see his walls starting to crumble as he gets to know Willow better and better … and better.

I thought the romance in this glorious. The tension between the two main characters was very well done and timed perfectly. I hate it when two people end up falling into bed, like, moments after they spot each other. I also liked how each fought their inner demons regarding their desire for each other.

The story itself was also good! There was a good murder mystery going on, and I loved the blend of the witchy - demon - human world.

This book is part one, and I’m very much looking forward to the rest of the series!

ONE TUMULTUOUS ROLLERCOASTER!!!
Dirty devil! If you're looking for something jumping into action, keeps you riveted on a razors edge, throws you under the bus only to shake you out, riding into chaos, partnering up with the enemy, fighting evil entities, drawn in with the shenanigans and ditching the mayhem. Congrats my friends, you've jumped off chin deep. Satisfaction rocks this little treasure, bringing it home with such intensity and precision, riding roughshod and imparting one block busting dynamo, fusing this impressive bombshell together piece by piece. Lines blur and boundaries crossed, limitations are stretched and bent, kicking this baby into overdrive, slamming it into a tailspin with an life-changing realization. Rolling out the drama, turmoil, intrigue, misgivings, spiraling suspense and intense situations, along with a boatload of danger while dodging calamity, you have one block busting experience. Bearing the burden and towing the line, delivering one action packed, pulse racing, heart pounding, adrenaline pumping, page flipping bombshell, blasting this baby to a whole new realm. The characters, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits add diversity, transforming into genuine charismatic personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and vivid descriptions creating an elaborate backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Remarkable job Shari, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.

Fast paced and full of forbidden desire, witch Willow McCray will stop and nothing to find out who killed her best friend. MBI agent Alex Denopoulos isn't fond of witches but he has a job to do and he needs Willow's help to catch a killer. I loved the sparks between these two, and watching their love grow, despite the evil threatening them. An awesome read!!

Willow is a witch who has involved herself in the criminal element of the place known as Raven's Hollow and who is now frantically trying to salvage her chances at any sort of life. Alex is an investigator who is part of the MBI and is on a case to solve a vicious murder...and a man who has a remarkably low opinion of witches and witchcraft. Their paths cross one night, and the only thing salvaging the rockiest of starts to a forthcoming work partnership is the instant chemistry the two find between them. The odds are against them surviving, let alone being able to forge an actual relationship...but in a world of dark magic, vampires, and fae folk, is anything truly impossible?

Shari Nichols has taken us to a modern magical setting tinged with darkness and corruption in this novel, but keeps us grounded in characters and emotions that are all too human. I can't quite truly use the phrase “supernatural noir romance” as there are some very modern elements involved. Still, it is the closest phrase I can give to describe the feel of this world: seemingly very gray, but with splashes of light and dark. The fact that the book is a romance novel is not lost in this environment, however, and in this way the author stands out as I have learned to expect from her books.

Now, I'm curious about certain details about the world she has built, but as this work is the first in a trilogy I know there's time to learn more about Raven's Hollow. (I'm a nut about world-building, I must admit.) I would also let readers know that yes, this IS a romance so if that's not really what you're looking for, this book might not do it for you. I only read this genre occasionally as of late, but when I do, I want something that I can recognize as such. These minor caveats aside, my biggest complaint is that now I have to finish the trilogy...and there are far worse problems to have.

Great read from start to finish. Willow finds herself in a bind when she is arrested looking for her friend, luckily her powers are useful and she is recruited to help on an important case. Alex hates witches but is drawn to Willow in a way no one has ever been able to do before. As they become closer so does a killer. Will they be able to save each other in time?

I was immediately drawn to Willow. She literally kicks butt and takes names, making no excuses for why she is the way she is, or why she made the decisions she has made. She will fight to the death to protect her friends, even those who have turned their backs on her. And Alex is delicious and damanged, and I absolutely love him for his imperfections and for how much he grows throughout this novel. If you're a fan of urban fantasy romance, this is a must read!

Midnight Desire by Shari Nichols is a paranormal romance. This is the first book in the Ravens Hollow Coven Series and each book can be read as a standalone.

This is the first book of Shari's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. This book pulled me in and I just had to know how it was going to end. I absolutely loved Alex and Willow! I can't wait for the next book in the series Midnight Temptation to be released on June 30, 2020 so I can get Gillian and Garrett's story.

I would highly recommend this book if you love paranormal romances, suspenseful romances, or fantasy romances.

Our heroine is a witch with a past that she is trying to put behind her. Our hero is a detective with some strong preconceptions. Together they just might make an explosive mix.

This is book one of the series.

This is nominally a paranormal romance story, but I found there was a lot more to it than that. The story is well written, easy to read and chock full of action and intrigue that keep the book moving at a fast pace. The background and setting are well developed and provide a nice stage for the story. Similarly, the characters also have a nice depth to them and exhibit both the good and the bad. I actually like both of our leads and enjoy watching their relationship evolve as the story progresses. Overall, it was an excellent read and I look forward to the next book in the series.

Highly recommended.

Witch Hunter is an action packed steamy paranormal romance with a host of intriguing characters.

Willow McCray is a witch who has been working for the wrong side of the law but when Willow finds out that the organization she works for is in involved in things she’s not comfortable with she decides to it’s time to quit. Problem is no one just walks away from her line of work freely or alive. In order to hide out from her boss and his demon henchmen she needs a little extra magical help from her best friend Mauve. While looking for Mauve she runs into a mysterious and sexy man named Alexandros Denopolous. Willow is instantly attracted to Alex. The man is smoking hot but there is something off about Alex. Willow suspects that he’s done something to Mauve and that he’s an assassin working for Agares sent to kill her.

Alexandros Denopolous is a human who works for the MBI, the Magickal Bureau of Investigations, the supernatural version of the FBI. Alex has been working on taking down a notorious drug lord but his informant is now dead and it looks like her death is connected to a serial killer. Now that Willow has broken a cardinal rule, ‘Harm Ye None’ the bureau has the perfect means to get her to work for them, on the right side of the law. Willow has inside information that can help Alex take down Agares and she also has unique magical skills that can help the bureau track down the serial killer. However, Alex isn’t excited with having to work with the sexy and feisty witch. He doesn’t trust witches. Actually he hates witches and he definitely doesn’t trust a witch who worked for Agares but as he gets to know Willow he starts to trust her and his attraction for her grows.

Neither can ignore the attraction they have for one another but they have a number of obstacles to work around. They both have past issues they need to deal with and several present issues in the way. With Willow’s boss out to kill her and a serial killer on the loose the two may not have the time or opportunity to explore their feelings beyond a few steamy hookups.

I burned through the pages of this book and was hooked by the fast paced storyline and constant action. Things moved rather quickly between Alex and Willow. The sex scenes were intense and well written. I did have questions concerning the interactions between humans and supernaturals but since this it the first book in the series I’m expecting those questions to be answered as the world of Raven Hollows is explored and explained further.

* I received an ebook in exchange for an honest review. *

This was author Shari Nichols debut novel but it feels like she has been doing this for years and years. Her plot was solid, her characters were complex and her writing hooks the reader right from the start and never lets go! I have read many veteran authors who haven't come close to the writing quality, character development and plot-building that her book has. I instantly wanted more and I was only a few chapters in - I felt like the book should never end...I had a book hangover before I even finished....

Let's start with Willow - she is so completely badass but yet she has the same fears that regular everyday people have. The author grounded her and had the reader be able to relate to her even if she was a witch. Alex - swoon - dark hair, muscular, tall, handsome....and human. The MBI agent had his work cut out for him with Willow. The author gives such amazing details to the demons, witches, coven and town that the reader becomes a part of the story. They are invested and feel like they are right there with the characters as the book progresses.

The plot....think of a multiple loop, fast, curving, upside down roller coaster and you have an idea of what you are in for with this book. Just when you think you have a grasp on it - it twists, turns, loops and curves into areas that you never imagined. She is a master story teller that leaves the reader breathless!

I loved everything about this book! I love the relationships, the plot, the love and most importantly the MBI. It is a completely different take on the supernatural/paranormal and it is an amazing one. If you love any of those types of characters don't hesitate to grab this book!! It is phenomenal and nothing like you have read before! I am already looking forward to book 2 - I hope it is coming soon (hint, hint)!!!

Do yourself a favor and get this amazing book soon! You won't be able to stop once you start reading and you will think about the book long after you have finished. Enjoy!!

After a very long time, a full length novel that had no prequel, no sequel and had an ending.

Thank God!

Loved it, enjoyed it and finished it within 1 day. The writing style was simple yet effective, though not flowery, it brings across the imagery it needs to. The characters are just like your every day people, beautiful and good looking like most supernatural species but they are just like a normal being.

Willow wants nothing more than to find her firend who it more sister than anything else, but when her search takes her into a dangerious bar she finds more than she was looking for.

Alex does his job and does it well, he does whatever needs to be done to take down the bad guys, even working with a witch, and he is NOT a fan of witches.

Forced to work for them in order to pay for past crimes, and forced to work with her by his boss and can the two find a way to work together? And then there is their undeniable attraction...

Willow is one tough chick, she can take care of herself and doesn't need anyone elses help. She's also lonely. Being forced into the life she leads she can't trust anyone and has hardened her heart to keep it safe.

Alex is one smooth talker, he is also confused. He has a reason to dislike witches, but can't deny there is something about Willow he wants more of.

The story takes you through a new and exciting world of witches, demons, vampires and many more creatures as they live alongside humans. Willow and Alex work together to find the bad guys and keep innocent people safe. This is their story and it show both past and present and how they came to where they are in life today.

Great read and start to a new series I'm excited to see more of as it comes out!!!
