Wedding bells are finally ringing for Jacklyn “Jack” Wyatt and her FBI-agent fiancé, Damon Wade. After their adventurous beginning, the happy couple finds the relative calm leading up to their big day a huge relief. Unfortunately, it seems the peace and quiet were too good to last. As they embark on their honeymoon, a weeklong cruise, Jack can’t shake the feeling that something is off with her new husband. When she stumbles upon a secret plot—one in which her husband is a key player—she realizes this getaway will be anything but smooth sailing. When she delves into the shady happenings aboard the ship, Jack realizes Damon’s involvement is just the tip of the iceberg—she has become an unwitting player in a deadly conspiracy, and in such close quarters, there is no escape. Now, Jack has no choice but to work with her new husband to unravel the truth before their happily ever after—and their lives—are ended all too soon.
There are a couple of points that I want to make before I review this book. First - there had better be more books about Jack and Damon! I know it's up to the author's discretion, but dang it, I want more! Second - I could see this series as a mini-series or made for TV movie. I swear I would be laughing out loud.
What can I say other than "Jack rocks!" I love her character. It's been so long since I read the last book that I forgot how fantastic she is. Damon is OK when compared to Jack. But he is pretty great too. Her naivety makes her unbelievable effective. Picture this scene from the book. (I think this is spoiler free). Picture Jack dressed up in a blonde wig, trying to fake a German accent while trying to German folk dance in a seedy bar. It's got to be one of my favorite scenes from the book. Her inner dialogue made me chuckle. Seriously, you must read it to get the Jack effect.
I'm raving, I know. I just can't get over how much I loved this book.
This book contains non-graphic violence, religious references, kissing, behind closed doors marital relations, mayhem, and mischief.
Source: I received a complimentary copy of the book. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
Just as an FYI up front, this book contains some religious elements specific to the LDS religion.
This is the third book in this series even though it isn't labeled as a series. I don't know why it isn't. Even though the author does a good job of filling in the past with enough to get by, I would highly recommend reading this series in order. It will mean so much more if you do. And it's such a fun set of books, you really can't go wrong.
Jacklyn "Jack" is an amusing character. She always has an inner dialogue running in her head and most of the time it is greatly amusing. I like to be amused. Actually, Jacklyn reminds me a bit of Julia in the Spinster series if you've read those. Maybe a titch less sarcastic, but it's the first person inner dialogue that makes me feel that way.
The first half of this book is really more familial. Jack and Damon are getting married so we see the build up to that. Bridal shower, picking up the dress, wedding preparations. Then they leave on their honeymoon and that's where things really start to pick up. I enjoyed the first part of the book well enough but it was the second half that finally sucked me in and had my undivided attention. The pace picked up, the danger increased and I felt more invested in the plot. I think I like the previous book better but this one was still very good- fun mixed with danger in an exotic location. Maybe not the best book to read on a cruise ship vacation though!! haha.
Content: some violence, peril, kissing, LDS fiction (some religious elements)
Undercover Honeymoon is such a hilarious and fun story, even in the midst of some pretty terrifying danger. Jack is a character who is easy to relate to. Not only is she slightly clumsy, speaks her mind, and has a charming, witty personality, but she's also fairly dramatic and highly suspicious, often jumping to conclusions that land her in heaps of trouble. She has a knack for finding herself in trouble, yet her quirky self shines.
I love that Jack and Damon are finally getting married and starting their happily ever after, but of course, sailing off on a dream honeymoon cruise isn't all it seems to be. I was constantly smiling and laughing out loud, but a part of me could feel the subtle terror mounting and wanted to warn Jack.
The humor, adventure, danger, and romance are all wrapped up in a perfect package of tropical secrets. I enjoyed it all and would highly recommend reading A Date with Danger and Mormon Girl Incognito first.
Content: mild romance; mild violence/moments of peril; mild-moderate elements of religion (not preachy, but pretty detailed to a specific religion)

I was so excited to see this new one by Kari Iroz. And what was even better to me, was that it’s a continuation of the series she’s been writing. I’d highly encourage you to read these ones in order. Otherwise certain parts of the plot don’t make a lot of sense. Make sure to read A Date with Danger and Mormon Girl: Incognito first!
Jack is such a fun character! She’s a bit paranoid and that makes that plot of this one work so well. She’s finally getting married to Damon. And, of course, everything is going to go wrong. I laughed so hard at the scene where she’s in the wedding dress shop! And her bridal shower…I’m not even sure what to say. But how does one character get herself into so much trouble???
The reader doesn’t see any of the plot of this one through Damon’s point of view. And it’s probably a good thing, that would ruin so much of the plot. I liked Damon as a character. It’s a bit crazy how many times he had to save Jack from herself or someone else.
There are so many fun characters in this one. I’d love to learn a bit more about Jack’s sisters, Jen and Delia. Hopefully there are upcoming books that help with this!
The plot of this one is so good! I loved the way Jack’s honeymoon isn’t quite all it’s cracked up to be. And all of the secrets that Damon keeps just keep getting bigger, until the whole situation blows up.
There’s definitely plenty of danger and action in this one. The plot is never boring. I loved the mysterious woman at the end. And the way everything plays out is a bit flawed, just like Jack. But it’s perfect for the characters.
I have really enjoyed Jack's journey through A DATE WITH DANGER and MORMON GIRL: INCOGNITO. This new installment is so much fun. Jack just has a habit of stumbling into things she probably shouldn't and how she is able to help makes it even better. There were some character twists in this one I didn't expect. It would be interesting to read all three back to back and see if I missed some of the foreshadowing of those twists. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance with a good dose of mystery and suspense. I look forward to any other stories about Jack and Damon.
This is the third in the series, and I had a hard time finishing it. I think she used up all her ideas in the first two books.
I didn't like the premis of this book either. It took half the book to actually get to the honeymoon part, then longer to reach the undercover part. I didn't like the secrets between the newly-weds, but I guess without them there wouldn't have been any story at all. Not at all like the first book in this series, totally lacking humor, and just not my type of book.
This one was left wide open for more in the series, but I hope she doesn't write any more unless she can come up with some new material.
Picked up this book and didn’t realize it was the third in the series. It was just fine as a stand alone read. Jack’s sense of humor and silent witty remarks had me laughing out loud throughout the book. Gave it 4 stars for being a clean, suspenseful, humorous book.
If I had not been listening to this on audio book while traveling and no other book readily available I probably would not have finished it. It is written first person with every thought and observation in Jack’s head narrated to the reader and frankly, Jack is nuts! Her brain thinks in ridiculous hyperbole and the arguments she had with herself were just nonsense. The first 2/3 of the book was barely tolerable but the last third has some substance to it that prompted the second star.
I was so excited when I heard that Kari Iroz had a new book coming out. A Date with Danger is one of my favorites when I'm looking for a laugh, and I was thrilled to see that Jack and Damon's story was continuing in the third book in this series.
The laughs you're used to from Iroz keep coming in Undercover Honeymoon. I was drawn into the story right away-who wouldn't be with the wedding dress mishap? I really like Jack and Damon. We didn't get a lot of Damon in this story, which I missed, but we do get an adventure and a happy ending.
There were some twists and turns that I didn't see coming. Jack still gets into all sorts of trouble, but her knack for helping solve crimes carries on. There's a betrayal that I thought would cause deeper issues than it did, and my attention waned a bit, but overall it was an enjoyable read.
*I received a complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
This is the third book written by this author that includes Jack and Damon. I've read the other 2 and loved them as well. They can be read as stand alone novels because Jack reminisces about some of her past undercover experiences so readers won't feel confused if this is the first book they read.
Jack and Damon finally get married and are off on their exotic honeymoon when things start turning for the worst. Jack is a hysterical character and I laughed so much when I read this book. Funny, clean romantic, dramatic novel-Highly recommend!
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
I waited months on the library hold list for this book. The description held such promise that the book did not deliver on. Jack is a bit of an idiot. They were lucky to make it out alive. I suppose her ineptness is meant to be charming, but I didn’t find it so. Damon was certainly caught up in his own problems and career. I’m not sure what the attraction was between Jack and Damon. For all that I liked the story okay. I haven’t read any of the stories that come before this one.
The author seems to lose focus or struggle to understand what type of book she is writing. When she finally gets her characters in place, her stories are good, but getting there seems like too much work. In this book, the author seems to be writing a how-to marriage guide for LDS girls, not an adventure or mystery. It took more than half to book to get started, all the while nothing of the conflict is introduced. That is just bad writing. I bought this book, hoping the writing would be better than the previous books, but I think she’s getting worse. It takes her too long to introduce the conflict and she loses focus on the story to preach at the reader. Yuck.
DNF. Needed a last minute audio book while on a road trip and it seemed like this would do the trick. I wouldn't have listened to as much as a did except I didn't have anything else downloaded and I was driving. So unrealistic and silly, plus Jack (MC) drove me nuts. Definitely not my kind of book. Tbh, I don't think a lot of LDS fiction is, but if it's your thing, then maybe you would enjoy more than me.
Started really slow. Almost put it down at the beginning. Whining heroine. Past halfway through, finally picked up. Could have been a much shorter book.
UNDERCOVER HONEYMOON is another hilarious, romantic and suspenseful ride from this author and series! With an everyday heroine and hero to cheer on, plenty of sparks flying (of the romantic and suspenseful type), laugh-out-loud humor, and a plot that will entertain from beginning to end, readers are sure to love every minute of this story.
This is the third book that focuses on these characters (in the first book they meet and end up working together, in the second they're dating and she almost ruins his operation, and in this one they get married and are off on a honeymoon). You don't have to read the other two books to understand and enjoy this one (especially as the author does a fabulous job of recapping the prior books), but it definitely enhances the experience if you already know these characters.
First off, I have fond memories of these characters from the first two books and that made seeing them get married even more blissful. The chemistry has always been present between them, but especially in this book it's swoon-worthy romance at its best. Jack was her usual clumsy, talks-herself-into-problems gal, with a heart of gold, and a desire to help Damon and the FBI. She's sweet and strong in her faith. Damon is a solid guy. He's smart, strong, loyal, courageous, also leans on his faith, and knows how to give Jack his full attention (at least most of the time). I really loved seeing these two together again!
I've always enjoyed Jack's voice that is full of sarcasm and humor, and her character provides plenty of humor. In this book, it's no different, and from the first page I was already smiling and laughing. I also liked how faith was woven into the story. It wasn't forced but was more natural and just a part of these characters' lives. I also appreciated that the author didn't make the story all peachy perfect. These two definitely had some things to learn about marriage, communication, and working together. There was one point that was really heartbreaking and pulled on my emotions—I wanted to cry and yell at Damon. Then the last third of the book... what a crazy, roller-coaster ride of suspense. It was a bit over the top in places with Jack's drama and clumsiness, but otherwise this story had it all.
In the end, was it what I wished for? I so enjoyed reading this! If you enjoy lots of sarcastic humor, crazy and hilarious mishaps, swoon-worthy romance, and a conclusive hold-on-to-your-seat suspense, then definitely pick this book up. I can't wait to see what adventure waits for these two next!
Content: Some innuendo and violence, but clean. Source: I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, which did not require a positive review nor affect my review in any way.
Couldn’t finish. I kept waiting for the actual mystery story to start but 1/3 way through I gave up. I couldn’t stand the main character. She was so annoying and “I can’t believe” how many times she said “I can’t believe it!” Her naivety and shallowness was astonishing, as is how a supposed intelligent FBI agent could find their conversations stimulating enough to want to be married to her. The wedding prep details were extremely overdone and completely unrealistic in general, let alone for an openly Mormon wedding. (Side note - can we push more religion while pretending we’re trying to casually mention it? Prob not. 🙄). Mormons don’t spend thousands and thousands of dollars on just the bridal shower, to say nothing of the wedding. And then she does her own hair and makeup. If they’re concerned about the difference between two nearly identical mint party favors, and have a full on panic attack when the designer dress isn’t just right, why would they not spend money to have someone dress her?
And why the extreme focus on her weight and fitting into the dress? A 6 month extreme diet for one “perfect” day? What kind of twisted message are we sending our children? This isn’t normal, nor should it be. And everyone around her just laughs off her ridiculousness knowing she’ll “go back to normal” after the wedding. Based on her extensive internal dialogue and mood swings, “normal” now includes body shaming, eating disorders, and mental illness.
I laughed out of awkward embarrassment and incredulity too many times to count. Particularly anytime discussion of sex came up. Ahem. Pardon, “relations” came up. Was the author trying to normalize the conversations by including them? If so, she failed dismally. Be open and talk about sex. Or don’t. Use real terms. Leave behind misogynistic tropes about men naturally being more experienced, women’s job being to pleasure and serve him, and sex shaming. This is the kind of trash that contributes to purity culture and confuses our kids. The wedding night scene was the last straw for me. I’m sure it was awkward. Normal. The overdone awkward, crying, embarrassment, but not too embarrassed to talk extensively about it and then all the sudden it’s hunky dory, was a stretch. And again. Culture purity tropes galore. 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
I feel dumber from reading/listening to as much as I did. The chosen reader didn’t help either. I don’t know who she is but she’s my least favorite. Her voice is grating and every character is read as flighty or angry. No in between. And because she can’t do more than two voices, all characters, men and women, sound exactly the same (read: all the men sound angry🙄)
Oh how to describe my feelings while reading this book?
First off, I loooooved the romance! I feel like this would have totally been a 5⭐️ if it was purely a romance novel, because the way she writes the characters and their connections is so pure and heart-warming!!! It felt like I was right alongside the characters the ENTIRE time, and the descriptions were Magical ✨. And come on, a girl who spends 4 paragraphs describing a buffet table?! That’s obviously my kind of author. I also looooooved how not only do they live in Utah, but it talks a lot about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, as well as temple sealings and making covenants. The beginning was their wedding, and it was so cute to watch them fall in love with each other more every day they spent together; it truly was a dream romance.
Now the mystery. It’s called a mystery romance, but it was more - romance - (pause) - mystery -. I honestly didn’t hate that it was designed that way as much because of how much I loved the romance. HOWEVER, I definitely think some of the enthusiasm the author was writing with fell away when we got to the mystery aspect (almost exactly half-way through). It didn’t feel as high-stakes as it was, because you don’t have enough information about what’s going on. This is because you are always in the pov of the mc, which means while she doesn’t know what’s happening, neither do you. Obviously that’s how a lot of mystery’s work, but because the mc specifically was left out of a lot and had to go through a lot of debriefings, it felt detached somehow.
Anyway, I would still recommend! I feel like it’s one of those books you HAVE to experience once in your life. And it’s completely clean! No spice or swear words! Definitely go check this book and author out!
This is a good book and it is a good ending to the series. But that's just it, it's "good" not great. I love Jack and Damon! They are probably two of my favorite characters out of all the many books I've read.
SPOILER ALERT! In the first and second book, there relationship was beginning and grew and grew. Of course like any other couple they had their hiccups but always got past them. (Thankfully!) However in the final book, I feel like their love for one another kind of just decreased a bit. I felt like the whole dang book they were mad at each other! I wanted to read a book about them being happy to be married and celebrating it. But that is not what I read and its still a good book.
This book is definitely not what I was expecting to read for a lot of different reasons. And they weren't all bad! Many exciting twists and turns that kept me reading. It was get intense at some parts which I love! This book was a pretty good ending to the series. But I have to say, I am still sad to say goodbye to Jack and Damon! They just made my summer reading days! Thanks Kari Iroz for the great books!
PS. Kari Iroz, do you think you could write another book about their child? ;)
I really liked this novel but wished that I'd read the first two books in the series first. I felt a little lost like I had started watching a TV series but I missed the first two seasons. Thankfully, it didn't take long to realize how funny main character Jacklyn, "Jack" is. Her humor is throughout the novel whether she's dealing with wedding planning problems or being kidnapped on her honeymoon. The author did supply a lot of background flashes of what happened before when Jack and Damon got together. The best part of the book is when the couple are finally on their honeymoon cruise and the action really starts. Their honeymoon turns into more of a working situation for Damon's FBI job. This novel is a great mix of romance, action, dangerous situations, and religion and trust in God. Though it is written with LDS(Latter-Day Saints) characters and religious customs, it is not preachy or over the top.I enjoyed this book enough that I know I'll be going back to read how Jack and Damon became a couple.
I wouldn’t recommend reading this book before reading the first two in the series because the other experiences are mentioned in this book and I had no idea they were talking about. I always look up books before I start them to see if they are part of a series, but this one didn’t reference the other two. Start with A Date with Danger.
I don’t know how Jack can be so forgiving! Her husband, Damon, plans their honeymoon around an FBI investigation case. I would be so livid. One of the only times you need to focus on the two of you, he plans to work and vacation? Seriously 😒! I was so frustrated with Damon throughout the book. I was also annoyed with Jack because she is 25-26 and doesn’t have a real job? And she’s a little too naive, clueless and ditzy to be participating in her 3rd FBI sting operation. I didn’t hate the story, but it wasn’t very realistic either.
Wasn't aware when I got this book that it was an LDS author. Definitely wouldn't understand many things in the book if you are not part of that religious community. I didn't appreciate that as a reader because many of the cultural insinuations weren't explained in the book and made it so I wouldn't recommend it to many of my friends. The story line was kind of fun. The constant reassurances in the characters brain of all things will work out and also a few other comments to themselves were beyond over done and if I hadn't wanted to know where the author would take the actual story line I would have just returned the book without finishing. It was grating to have the same thing reiterated so many times through the book. Like got it, move on. But that is the writing style of many LDS authors in this genre and somewhat to be expected.
I wanted to give this one a 5 like I gave the other two in the series, but one thing really bugged me. I think Damon should have apologized for ruining the honeymoon. He apologized for taking her on an op and he told her he'd make the honeymoon up to her, but he never apologized for ruining it. I think that was a pretty big deal. Jack reached out with forgiveness and understanding at a critical moment in a big way, but he was pretty selfish in this one. I realize they were a little busy, but they didn't act like newlyweds. Usually newlyweds can't keep their hands off each other, but they barely touched or kissed. Otherwise, it was hilarious and kept you guessing.
In Undercover Honeymoon, it is another amazing adventure with Jack and Damon. After Damon proposes to Jack they get married! Damon then takes Jack on a cruise which turns into another adventure. I won't go into much detail because you have to read the books. They are AMAZING! This book also had me in suspense, and mystery. I also love how cute Jack and Damon are together too. Undercover Honeymoon was hilarious and it had me laughing the whole time through the book. The author did an amazing job at Jack and Damon's personality. This book had me wanting to keep reading more!
I love Jack Wyatt! She's such a great character. A klutzy, lovable, funny, daring (sort 0f, when she has to be), faithful woman, who loves her husband and God. The unexpected plot twists in this book kept pleasantly surprising me, and had me turning pages right to the end. I hope this isn't the last we see of Jack Wyatt. By the way, this book nicely ties in the previous two books, and sort of creates an unexpected series, that I hadn't really looked at it that way until I read this book. Artful, wonderful, engaging, suspenseful . . . excellent.
I started this a week ago when I realized that this is the third book in the series bs decided I needed to put this story on hold while I read the other books first. I think it could have been read as a stand alone since lots of things were explained. But it was a fuller experience having gone back to read the other two. It was fun to see “Jack” finally married to Damon. Lots more adventure in this book. They didn’t get much of a honeymoon. Lots of funny scenes.
This is book 3 in the series. While you don't have to read them in order, readers who know the backstory will understand the character dynamics much more. Jack and Damon have a complicated relationship. Jack's dream wedding and honeymoon go off about as well as the other FBI situations she has become involved in. Several times I wanted to shake her and just tell her to talk to Damon, but it was a cute summer read.
I loved the whole series! Although the first book I picked up to read was Mormon girl incognito and laughed with Jacks just plain humanness. She is funny, brave , snarky and loves Damon . I read this through and thought I better pick up the first book and see how she got trapped in a basement fire. I was hooked! Then bought the third series . I could truly see these as a mini series for TV as well. Hope there is more of Jack and Damon! I could just see her on the run with the kids.. .
Totally felt like a trip with a very distracted woman with adhd. The first half of the book had nothing to do with the honeymoon. Literally, half before they even got married. She brought in Latter Day Saint teachings irreverently and almost flippantly. The last quarter of the book was good though and I wanted to keep listening. Apparently this is the 3rd book in the series. I would have to be desperate to read any others.
It isn't often that I find a book that drives me nuts. This one did it. In no way does there need to be such ramblings. I was seriously tempted to skip a few pages more than once. I madenit to the end but man if that is what over thinking is I feel for whomever struggles with that because I would go nuts. And how she morphed from a confident adult into a childish human still baffles me. I finished! And I will proudly say will never read it again.
