He was broken by the war. Her secret could destroy her family. Ex-Marine sniper Jared River left the war, but the war never really left him. He’s a broken wolf who’s only good for one thing now—killing men. And he’s peering down his scope at Senator Krepky, the anti-shifter politician about to ruin the lives of all the shifters Jared loves.
Grace Krepky is the daughter of the Senator, a good girl with a passion for her father’s politics and who’s earned her way into being his campaign manager. Only problem? She’s secretly a shifter… and the clock is ticking until her own father inadvertently forces that secret into the open, ruining both their lives.
Jared’s all set to pull the trigger when he sees something shocking through the Senator’s glass walls—his daughter is a wolf. Jared puts his gun aside to go after the fleeing girl, but he already knows this can only end in one of two ways—either he’ll convince her to reveal herself to the Senator and stop his anti-shifter legislation, or Jared will have to assassinate her father.
If only she wasn’t making him come alive again…
Jared is a complete novel with HEA, the third in the Riverwise Private Security trilogy (all standalone stories, but best enjoyed if you read them in order!).
Contains scorching hot shifters, alpha military heroes, and dark family secrets.
AFTER THE RIVER BROTHERS: Check out the Wilding Pack Wolves series!
I was really disappointed in this book. I listened to it on audible (which for me is a much bigger commitment than reading on paper, they take forever). My expectations were high until (drumroll please) the dreaded dead ex drama... It just... wouldn’t... stop!!!! It’s even worse in this book because of the fact that the characters are shifters, which brings the whole “mates for life” scenario. When the characters are in wolf form they can read each other minds. So the very first time they are in wolf form together (as in the first couple of chapters) she is able to hear his thoughts about how that connection can be great between lovers. Ok that part is not a big deal, but then he started thinking about how good it was between him and his mate sexually 🙄 So from the very beginning the story revolves around his obsession feelings for his first mate. Flash forward to him telling the heroine later about his mate and it’s basically about how much he loved her, and that she pulled away because of not understanding his experience in the army and how it destroyed him because it was completely his fault blah blah blah. He was overly honest about how much he had loved her and how he wouldn’t have ended things with her. Then she died so of course he elevated her to pedestal status even more. It had taken over his life, he was devastated. They end up in a conversation about mating/ claiming and sex between mates ( ie between him and his dead mate) it was TMI. Add in that the heroine is a virgin with no relationship history and I just hated this story. I felt bad for her. The authors underlying message is that he would never have left the other mate, and would not be single today if not for her death. She was the love of his life. To me this clearly says that she will always be second. No one deserves this, especially someone who has no real life or relationship experience. She deserves to be first and to have some of his firsts and even at the end, she never gets any of them. If the author wanted to write a story about him losing a mate for whatever reason, there is a way to do it without sending this message. But it was over and over shoved down our throats in this book. Sleuth the ex bein dead she was therefor elevated to an almost saintly person in his eyes and again the actual heroin never experienced any “firsts” with her or really anything. The dead ex was ALWAYS there. Even when he was performing their claiming ceremony he compared it to Avery, but not really in a good way. During the “submission” part, he stated that she submitted better than Avery 🙄 Yet when he got to the good part, the part when he bit her and they actually bonded, he thought nothing. As in there was nothing special or better than Avery. Avery was always second. Just one paragraph there about him realizing that Grave was who he was truly supposed to mate to, could have saved this book. What really sucks is that Avery was even written well. She wasn’t this saint or paragon of virtue. She not even there for him, she didn’t love him unconditionally the way Grace did. We could read that and infer it, but he never had that thought. But he NEVER has one bad thought about Avery at all about. He never even compares how his relationship with Grace is better because she loves him unconditionally in any way shape or form. He has always blamed himself for Averys failures throughout the entire book there is no resolution. So to me Avery is always going to be there in the middle, and there was NOTHING making his relationship with Grace special. If the author wanted to write a story about Jerrod and Avery so badly, why didn’t she write that story? There was simply too much of her in this book. I signed up to read the story about Jerrod and Grace, not Jerrod and Avery. Why do authors do this? She made me care about Grace and want the best for her. That’s not some guy whose heart will forever be at least shared by a woman she can’t compete with. I ended the book hoping that Grace would dump him and marry someone who can give her his whole heart. That’s not the way I want to feel at the end of a romance novel.
So excited to finish this series and find out how it all ends!!
Jared
Jared's love story was pretty freaking good. I loved his mate. I was afraid that I would hate her for her naivety the first 30% of the book, but when she stepped up, she really came through!!
The bad guys finally get what they deserve. Agent Smith and the Senator both get a taste of justice that was very satisfying.
Jared was a great ending to this trilogy and just as good as the previous books. I was very curious about Jared his story as we get to know little of him in the first two books. And I enjoyed getting to see his point of view in this book. This book finished the suspense storyline that continued throughout this series and it gets nicely wrapped up at the end. There also is a bit of a set-up for the spin-off series the Wilding Pack, which was nice.
This book does take a bit of a different take when it comes to the suspense element/ plot line. Before it was more military/ action like and here it takes a more political spin. I thought it worked and it made sense how this thing went as high up in the government. It also touches on some heavier topics like being different, being treated differently and people feared those who are different. I liked how things got wrapped up, although I would've liked to know what happened to the Senator now.
Jared is broken, he feels more dead than alive most days. The war damaged and changed him and ever since then he hasn't been himself. Until he meets Grace. I really liked seeing the changes in Jared thanks to Grace. To see him smile again and allow himself to live. There's this scene where Jared smiles for the fist time around his family and it really illustrates the change in him. And Grace knew almost nothing about the shifter world and Jared introduced her to that. And along the way she found a way to show her true self. It was amazing to see the character development these two go through throughout the book. And I really enjoyed reading about them and how good they were for each other.
The romance does develop fast, they only know each other for a short time and this book mostly takes place over a short period of time. But even so it never felt rushed and I really felt the connection, romance and chemistry between these two. They are just right for each other. There is almost no drama, but a lot of talking, sharing and being open with each other. Jared tells Grace eventually about his painful past and Grace doesn't hesitate to ask when she doesn't understand something shifter related. There also was a set-up with an ex from Grace and I am afraid that would bring some drama, but it was resolved very nicely.
I also like how we get to see the characters and couples from the previous books as well. The focus is on Jared and Grace, but we see glimpses of Jared his mom and the previous main characters. And I liked how each of these couples is so different and each character has their own personality. I also liked how Jaxson, Jace, Olivia and Piper, still felt like the same characters even now they were side characters. It's really neat when an author manages that. It was fun to see all the River brothers find their happy ending.
This is a great paranormal romance series. I like how the author handles the shifter aspect, while also leaving enough space for romance and some action and danger. It's a great mix. I also thought it was nice that the whole mate thing wasn't as definite as in other books, yes they did feel and instant connection, but it was still their decision to mate. I would've liked to learn more about Grace her white wolf power, as it felt that never got fully explored. We do know they are rare and a few ways in which she is special, but I would've liked to learn more about this. Why these white wolves are rare, why she is a white wolf and how she is different from normal wolves.
To summarize: this was a great ending to the series! this book is just as good as the previous books and it ends the series on a high note and wraps things up nicely while also setting the stage for the next series. I really liked Grace and Jared. they are so good for each other and there's a lot of character change in both of them. I really felt their romance, eve though it developed fast and I liked seeing them together. There are a few small things about Grace her wolf form that aren't answered, but overall I like how the author handled the shifter aspect. This book was a good ending to this series and I hope I can start the Wilding pack series soon and I hope it's just as good as this one!
JARED is a fantastic ending to the fast-paced action and HOT romance shifter series, River Pack Wolves. Alisa Woods‘ story openings are usually gripping from the beginning, and Jared is no different; opening the story in a suspenseful manner with ex-Marine Jared at the ready to assassinate Senator Krepky, an anti-shifter politician on the brink of setting out new legislation for all shifters to register.
“It didn’t take a genius to figure out where that was going. Not only would it be stupid-easy for the government to round up shifters, but shifter-owned companies like the private security firm Jared owned with his brothers, Riverwise, would go out of business.”
Jared is a broken shifter, seeing himself only as a killer. Although his killing was for his country during his time in the Marines, it is really all he knows. He has found it difficult to adjust to civilian life, lost his mate, and keeps himself to himself. Killing Senator Krepky, who is also believed to be behind shifter abductions and an experimental program, isn’t worth thinking twice about.
However, Jared notices the Senator arguing with a young lady, the Senator’s daughter, and Jared decides to wait until the Senator is alone before pulling the trigger. Keeping eyes on them both at all times, there is plenty of suspense during these first few pages. The Senator’s daughter leaves the room annoyed, and as Jared follows her with his eyes to ensure she is out of the way… she shifts!
I loved this turn of events; the way it shocks Jared. The way in which the author has written this scene makes it feel like your reading in first person, when the story is actually written in third. The way in which she describes what he is seeing, what his reactions are is very well written and described. Even though Jared has his chance to prevent the Senator, he is stunned by Miss. Krepky and thoughts race through his mind as he follows her wolf, leaving Senator Krepky in his office with no knowledge of what his own daughter is, or that he was about to be assassinated.
Grace Krepky has kept her shifting a secret from her anti-shifter father. She has worked her way to becoming her father’s Campaign Manager and enjoys her work. However, fully aware of the new shifter legislation that her father is about to bring in, she hopes to try and talk him out of it. Keeping her secret has meant that she has little knowledge of shifter life, and has nobody to confide in or talk to. And, there’s also the worry of what her father will do if, or when, he finds out what she is.
The meeting between Jared and Grace provides both of them with new possibilities. Jared may have a way to prevent the new legislation, without needing to kill the Senator, if only Grace could confide in her father what she really is and maybe the love for his daughter will change his whole perspective. Meanwhile, Grace would finally have somebody to teach her shifter ways, help her be her most natural self, and having someone to talk to. Thus, making life so much easier.
Not only do they have a chance of these, but natural instinct from their inner-wolves attract each other in a way so deep that neither of them had expected. The physical attraction, the protectiveness of each other – Jared emotionally, Grace both physical and emotional, and sheer desire all unite to create a very powerful and suspenseful romance.
A copy of Jared (River Pack Wolves #3) was provided by the author in return for a fair and honest review.
This is the third, concluding story in the thrilling, paranormal saga, the River Pack Wolves series. It is a standalone story but follows on from the other two and I’ve enjoyed reading all three so recommend others try to read them in the correct order.
Jared River has had enough of all the anti-shifter rhetoric being spouted by Senator Krepky, so much so that he’s prepared to use his ex-Marine talents as a top sniper to kill the politician. Hes poised, armed, targeted and ready to shoot but the Senator is with his daughter arguing . . . then when she storms out of the room, he sees an even more amazing sight – she shifts into a beautiful, petite, white wolf! Jared is unable to resist, abandons his gun and chases after the fleeing girl determined to protect her but in a dilemma about either getting her to reveal herself as a shifter to her father or him still shooting him. As the fortress around his heart starts to crumble, will he be able to keep her safe and stop the senator’s anti-shifter legislation?
As father/daughter relationships go, Senator Krepky really enjoys having his daughter as his campaign manager. She’s focussed, hardworking and very supportive. He, however, is unaware she’s a shifter and the current legislation he’s trying to push through will severely impact on her, too. Their relationship, the legislation and the mysterious Smith, all play key roles as the story unfolds. It was great to learn what happened to Jared to make him so closed off – and brilliant to see him re-emerging to live again.
I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading a fast paced, engaging thriller with danger, torture, supportive families, military heroes, hot shifters and secrets to be revealed. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series and can’t wait to start the ‘Wilding Pack Wolves’ series which continues on from this one.
Thanks to the author for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review.
Great "conclusion" to the River Pack brothers. Although I did think Jared gave in a little too easily considering all the angst he had in the previous two books. Grace was strong and perfect for him. Bad guy gets taken care of and there's a great lead in to the Wilding Pack series, but a few holes left in Grace's life.
The River Pack Wolves series may have came to an end but, as luck would have it Woods delivers more hot shifter wolves in the spin-off series The Wilding Pack Wolves. Bonus, this will not be the last we see of the The River Pack Wolves as they play an important part in the spin-off.

I really enjoyed Jared and Grace's story, it captured my imagination and interest. Although I've never cared for politics, it's very much a part of this story but I didn't mind, especially since I was curious how Grace would handle telling her father she was a shifter. Her father is up for re-election and his main platform is how to subdue the shifters!! There are quite a few twists and turns in the story and it really keeps you on your toes! Full of action and of course, romance:)
I liked Jace’s book best. This book for me fell a little flat. Jared I thought was very different in this book than I pictured him from the first 2 books. Then we have the whole best virgin sex EVER. It was just all too much. The politic stuff too it was ok not in your face but it was just I don’t know boring. The narration was just ok for me.
Jared is book three of the Riverwise Private Security paranormal romance series.
To get the most from these books, I recommend reading them in order.
This is the story of Jared and Grace.
Grace is the daughter of a senator who wants to force all shifters to be exposed to the general population. But she has a secret which is about to be blown out of the water. Jared is prepared to go to jail if it means he can stop the senator, but he didn't expect to have his plans destroyed by Grace.
Another quick easy read for those who enjoy hot paranormal romance.
Scorching hot shifters, alpha military heroes, and dark family secrets in Seattle. I let myself dive into the deliciously scorching hot world of the River brothers: Jaxson, Jace and Jared. Jared is book 3 in the River Pack Wolves trilogy, all standalone stories, but best enjoyed if read in order. I can't wait for Wild Game, book 1 in the Wilding Pack Wolves series, coming soon...
The older brother of the River Pack has issues, lots of them. He feels like he is no longer living and is always doing dangerous things because he doesn't care if he dies, until he meets Grace, and everything changes.
The concept of the book is good, a daughter hiding a secret and how she has to face her fears so she can do what's right, and a man that is only living, but not alive, waking up again and finding a reason to live.
The last book in the trilogy was interesting, but everything was just too easy for them, after fighting with the bad guys for two books, everything was solved by just the two of them. I liked the books, but for some reason is not a world that really trapped me, and I'm not really going to read more from the same author.
Ex-Marine sniper Jared River was broken by the war and is only good for killing now. He was peering down a scope at Senator Krepky who is the anti-shifter politician who is about to ruin all shifter's lives. Grace Krepky is the Senator's daughter who has earned her way to the position of his campaign manager. However she has a big secret - she is actually a shifter and her father is going to force her secret into the open which will ruin both of their lives. Just when Jared is ready to pull the trigger she sees that the Senator's daughter is actually a wolf too. So he puts his gun to the side and goes after the fleeing girl. It becomes clear that he either needs to persuade her to reveal her true identity or he will have to assassinate her father. However, he is making him come alive again which is something he never expected to happen.
I really enjoyed this story which had plenty of drama, excitement, political intrigue and of course a little romance too. There was a lot of danger at one point at it took a lot of effort in order to save Grace. I loved the ending and the way that she took control. I loved reading this series and it was great to see Jared find some happiness. Well written, easy to read, feel and understand. Contains some explicit secual content.
Grace Krepky is surprised to find another wolf in the woods behind her home and terrified that he will reveal her secret. As the daughter and campaign manager of an anti-shifter politician, the fact that she is a shifter could be disastrous. Jared has no intention of outing the beautiful white wolf. In fact, she kept him from killing her father. Now, Jared must pose as a bodyguard for Grace to insure that her father's anti-shifter policies never see the light of day. When an old enemy shows up in Grace's father's office, though, Jared cannot contain himself. His wolf comes out and Grace's life is placed in imminent danger.
Audio Review: Brian Hatch and Morais Almeida could be great narrators for a different genre. Unfortunately, Brian's narration is a bit overdramatic with a lot of pauses between words. Overall, the narration was not bad, just a little too over-the-top.
If you're looking for a political thriller with some paranormal themes, this is the book for you!
*I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
I was not sure about this book after reading book 2. I was hopeful that it would not be a disappointment. I'm glad I read Jared's story. Grace, the senator's daughter has a secret that could be the end of life as she knows it. Jared, on a mission to kill the Senator, happens to discover this whopper of a secret.
I liked Grace and the strength that she showed despite her circumstances that seemed to deteriorate throughout the story. She was the medicine Jared needed to live again.
This book was easy to read. It was a quick read that flowed well. There were minor editing issues. The story continued where Jace's story ended. The characters were not as active throughout the book because of the high profile situation that Grace held. This was truly Grace's discovery of herself and what was important to her. This book has one scene with torture and mentions infidelity.
I thought this was a good ending of one series and a definite beginning to another.
Best of the three books of this series. OVER 18 READING
Jared is a sharp shooter and one really big wolf who has come to the decision that taking out a senator is the only way to protect the shifters. That is until looking down his scope he sees Grace the human senator's daughter is a shifter and one he is drawn to protect. Grace knew her father hated shifters and has kept the fact that she is a shifter a secret for years. She knows so little about shifters really except what her father has taught her about why he dislikes them and until she meets Jared she had no reason to doubt him but everything she discovers about Jared and his family is the opposite of what she has been taught. What her father does when he discovers she is a shifter makes her decision to change everything... She will no longer hide who are what she is, what was done to her, by who and why it was done.
This was the final book in the trilogy and we finally got the bad guy in the whole overarching story line. The MC's in this story were Jared, the 3rd River brother, and Grace. Grace is the daughter of Senator Krepky, the man who's pushing for a bill that will make all shifters be registered and therefore endangered.
Jared had a mate who died in a car crash so he had a hard time accepting his feelings for Grace. He wanted to be with her but wasn't sure that "mating" was the way to go. Grace grew up unable to handle her wolf and hiding it at the same time. She didn't know any other shifters, so when she met Jared, everything she felt was instinctual. She wanted to be his mate and couldn't understand why he held back.
While we got our MC's happy ending, and we got the bad guys(s) of the series, the ending was a set up to the spin off series.
No plot spoilers Potential trigger warning relating to torture. Lots of sex scenes and some swearing. The characterisation is okay, enough to keep you turning the pages. The plotline has holes you keep stumbling into which is a tad irritating but the blurb never promised perfection. More irritating is the constant grammatical and editorial errors, missing words etc. Not quite enough to kill the book but it came close. I've read the three books in this series and while they are okay I'm not enough of a fan of the author and characters to continue reading the Wilding series which is the spin off from this one. Mostly because of the price, how does the author justify £4 for the last book when the previous two were virtually half that? To me that's pure sneakiness.
Jared is book 3 in the River Pack Wolves Series. Some say it can be read as a stand alone, but I recommend reading all 3 in the correct order because the political situation builds and is revealed a little more in every book.
I'm on the fence about his book because on one hand it was a nice little conclusion to the overall series, but everything ended up falling flat for me. I was left with a few more question, especially about Grace's wolf, it's just never mentioned again. Their relationship building was a little too fast and spontaneous for me, I wasn't able to get invested like I wanted.
I listened to this story on Audible. The narrators went a little overboard with the emotion sometimes and it ended up being cartoonish.
Enjoyed the story. I’ve been reading the series and the one directly following. I’ve enjoyed all of them, although some more than the others. I will say one thing about them. The ebooks have SO many missing words it’s incredible. I found this to be true about Jaxson, Jace and Jared the books with the 3 brothers. The story of Jared and Grace was interesting and you couldn’t help but be on their side as they navigate the new relationship. With Jared who was broken inside, it does your heart good to see him come around to Grace. There are sexual scenes in the book. If this offends you, this may not be the book for you. Otherwise, I recommend all of the brothers stories. Good reading.
Jared River is a wolf shifter and a military vet of war. His dark, desperate mood has become his accepted demeanor. His two brothers have recently found their mates. Jared does not believe he will find a mate and that his bloody background makes him unfit for normal life. But a foray into a political situation shows how wrong he is. He meets Grace, the daughter of the Senator he is stalking due to clandestine terrorism visited upon shifters by a government underground. And his world shifts. This is an action packed interesting adventure of home grown bigotry, but also intense integrity and bravery. The characters are involving and relatable, shifter or not. And this book provides a great lead up to the next series.
(Spoilers) Jared is an Ex-marine Sniper. In the first two books we see him more of the brother that has a death wish. He is waiting to kill the senator when he sees something so unexpected that makes him think twice and that is the senator’s daughter Grace. Surprisingly she’s a shifter so now there’s a question’s. Dose the senator know she’s a shifter? And if he does why is he hell bent on trying to destroy them all with an anti-shifter legislation. This book also leads into the wilding pack at the end with the outing of information of its pack members putting them all in danger. There is nothing more to do then get stuck into this series that I myself have yet to read.
I am glad that Jared was able to find another mate. I love that Grace was able accept and heal Jared, being there for him. Showing him that he is not a monster, he killed for a living for the Marines. Grace showing him that he was a decent man worthy of being loved. Through Jared’s teaching Grace about shifter life, he opened/thawed his heart for her. I wish they would have explained more about her magic and the rarity of being a white wolf. Possibly found out who her shifter father was. Given her answers. I hope we get to still read about them in the Wildings saga. Would be nice to see if the Rider brothers have pups.
The third book in the series, and one that brings the cuurent problems to an end. Jared, an ex military shifter and sharp shooter has had enough. He feels dead inside, he has killed so many, just one more. The man responsible for so much pain in the shifter world. That is until he sees Grace... the man's daughter, and she is a shifter. This is a well written story of Grace and Jared and the problems they over come and the truth that needs to be exposed. I suggest reading this series in order to fully appreciate the book and the series.
Jared has suffered a great loss. His mate is killed in a car wreck, the military has made him a killer, and someone is experimenting on shifters. Jared is at his ropes end when he decides to take matters in his own hands. What he doesn’t expect is to find his mate. A beautiful young woman runs through the woods alone-Jared is drawn to her. The bond between them is powerful. Jared teaches he what it means to be a shifter. Grace shows Jared what it means to live.
An unexpected pleasure. Jared had been a sniper while in the military and it has destroyed him mentally and emotionally. He is hiding in the trees outside the Senator's home getting ready to kill him. Then he sees someone who will change everything. The author has continued the storyline in another trilogy with the Wilding pack This was an unexpected series another one were I got the first in series as a freebie and enjoyed it so much I had to buy the rest. It was well worth the money spent.
A good round up that tidies this series nicely but leaves it open ended in another way for a spin off series. Jared came through the darkness in the end with the help of his new mate. Though sad he had lost his first mate, this is part of what set him on the path to his future. Wasn’t sure about Grace at first but she grew on me and proved herself strong. Good to see Mr Smith sorted out but I believe Grace’s father, the senator, to be a snake they will have to deal with down the road. Glad that what happened in book two sex scene wise DID NOT happen in this book.
