Between the Tides

When you stand beside the water, listening to the waves, what is it you feel?

Calm? Rage? Hope? Despair?

Love?

The sea is a place where every emotion can be felt, every crash of the waves upon the shore a match to the beating of your own heart, no matter what is going on inside it.

“Between the Tides” is just that. A beating heart that rushes at you from the shoreline, and dares you deeper into the waves. Do the depths of the ocean offer a sweet respite from the world around you? Or are the snow fed lakes in the mountains that place where you can go to create an ice wall around your heart, or perhaps break it asunder?

Come with us where the creatures of the deeps and the shallows, creatures out of myth and legend, come to life and drag you into the waves.

Who knows, you might get lost on a pirate ship or carried away by a kracken...

The only way to navigate the shores is to travel:

Twelve stories by twelve very different authors set in the world of water. Each was unique and enjoyable in its own way. Some were a bit weaker on editing issues and storytelling craft, but all in all, this was a delightful anthology.

this is only a review for Shark Bait by author TM Payne which is in the book bundle.

She has always loved the water but she was told never to go out into it without her mom or dad but she was never told why. now by her 25th birthday, things in her life are in a spiral going out of control and Olivia needs to find out why.

**Updated: 06/19/19** this is my review on: “THE MERMAIDS KISS” by Darlene Kuncytes ... Wow! I loved this magical short PNR must read with a mermaid and a shifter! I never write spoilers so I’m not gonna say what kind of shifter, but he’s one of my favorites! ... This is only the 2nd story I’ve ever read by this author, but has now made me a new fan of Ms. Kuncytes :D With a different plot than I’ve ever read, great characters & witty dialogue, that kept me hooked to where I read it in one sitting! Who doesn’t love an HEA :D So yes, I highly recommend this boxed set & these awesome stories, with an unbeatable discounted price, to adult 18+ fans of fiction & I look forward to reading more soon! ............
This is my review on the story, “Shark Bait” by T.M. Payne. What an awesome, but short, PNR must read with magic, shifters and romance plus a mystery or 2. This unique plot has likable characters and some twists that will keep readers engaged and the pages turning! I wish it had been longer but I still highly recommend this boxed set to all Adult fans of fiction and look forward to reading more :D

Shark Bait by T. M. Payne
This is the first book I have read by this Author so I have not read the other book in this series. FYI Spoilers First let me say I loved the concept of the story but it was lacking detail and flow within the story. The story was jumpy and at times not sure what was going on. I did like the story and I think it would have been better if it had been longer, it is a very short read.
If the whole town knew about shifters then why were the parents of Owen grieving? He shifted at a young age but he still could shift between human and shark- I was confused by this part. She was told never to go into the water. It was also stated that Olivia “found it weird that so many lived near the beach, but they all acted like the water was going to swallow them whole.” Yet when she comes home from college her friends invite her out on the boat for the weekend since they knew she loved the water. Again not following the rest of the books theme. Olivia talks about taking only a swimsuit and her air tank so she must get in the water at some point. Maybe it was just Virginia Beach water that she was not to enter but that is not explained.
Her friends bring Ryder along who is studying to be a biologist like Olivia. Olivia ask him what his favorite fish in the Ocean is and he says Dolphin. Dolphins are not fish. Olivia’s line could have been what is your favorite Ocean animal? Or he could have expanded on the Dolphin line.
While out in the boat they got hit by something or they hit something but that was never explained why all of a sudden there is a hole in the boat.
Olivia see Ryder turn into a dolphin and just turns to her friend and says that it is time to tell her what is going on. That seemed a little mild for someone who knows nothing about shifters. For 12 years Owen has been presumed dead then he all of a sudden just walks out of the water? Others knew he was alive yet he never bothered to find Olivia who he knew was his mate. They find out that Mistress Elecy has hired Ryder to bring Olivia to her reason unknown till later. He tells them he needed extra cash and she pays good. Now Owen is forming a plan to get rid of Mistress Elecy with Ryder and others helping.
A few pages later the elders show up they let everyone know that Olivia’s parents made a deal with the Sea Hag to be the mate for one of her sons. The elders had a sit down with the Sea Hag and come to find out her son is in love with someone and that Olivia will be a great benefit to the welfare of the ocean. The Seas Hag put out the word that Olivia is not to be harmed. Oh and the son was Ryder so none of that made since him trying to take Olivia etc….

Between The Tides
An Anthology as Mercurial as the Oceans

Quite an interesting group of stories written by 12 different authors.
They are all quick easy reads focusing on creatures of the water. All mythical creatures of course..haha
We have quite a mixture of Mermaids, Sirens, Water Sprites, Guardians, Fairies, Dragons, Gods, and Warriors. Oh yeah we even get a story with descendants of Loch Ness and Poseidon!
Of course I have to let you know that there are a couple of stories that end on a cliffhanger though.
The story I am going to review is called The Blue King written by the fabulous LJ Vickery.
We have King Waylon who falls head over heals for a little blue glowie warrior woman named Lavarette. One tiny lethal woman who serves the King of the underworld as head of security.
King Waylon is old school, women should be kept safe at home raising a family and keeping a nice home for her man. Lavarette may be tiny but when she is faced with danger she is tough as nails.
Small things really do pack a big punch!
Oh the paths that lead them to each other is filled with so much fun, danger and a whole lot of determination on both sides to come out on top. This is one story that I would give more stars than the ratings allow me to give.
LJ Vickery tells a great story full of love and laughter.

Shark Bait by T.M. Payne
This is the first time I have read a book by this author & I was pleasantly surprised at how well this paranormal shifter romance was written. I found the story-line & plot quite well-written with some ominous undertones. The characters are quite well-developed & have complex personalities, there is good support from the secondary characters.
There is: various kinds of ocean shifters, humans, a sea hag, elders, drama, intrigue, secrets, mystery, some danger, action, memories, fated mates, confrontations, explanations, discovery, love, contentment & a satisfying happy ending

I have only read a couple of these stories! One I liked, it was interesting, good story with some good lessons to be learned. The second story I read I loved. I've read this author before and always enjoyed her work. This story lived up to what I've read by her in the past. The third story I didn't finish. I don't feel it was because of the writing so much as just not my thing. The story was confusing and I couldn't get into it. I finally gave up at about halfway through that one. I definitely plan to read more! It's a great deal!!!

What a great anthology! I enjoyed each book and loved the way that each one was so different from the other. I can honestly say this anthology is one of my favorites.
Naiad's Awakening by Jolanthe Aleksander had such an elegant and poetic flow. Just Beautiful.
Let Go the Shore by Marj Ivanic was full of magic and gave me a Lord of the Rings feel. I loved the Sprites and Fairies, but that Queen had to go!
The Mermaid's Kiss by Darlene Kuncytes had a sexy bad boy dragon vibe. Oh my was it GOOD!
The River Siren by Andi Lawrencovna "You are mine now. You are my will and my sword." OMG this was my first Siren tale and the author has shown me a whole new world I had been missing. Wow!
I recommend this book. Which novel will be your favorite?

I really enjoyed how easily I was drawn into the world's of numerous characters within these tantilizing book's. .
There are different Author's throughout the anthology, reading similar themes throughout, giving you an uncanny ability to see how well some book's will grab your attention immediately while others tickle your interest without the intense pull.
I loved the variation of the shapeshifters going into the deep world of the underworld giving such an open door to so many possibilities, while it was inticing as the theme played on how deeply a single event can totally change everything you know and believe, it is also felt intensely by the reader's as well while you are deeply incorporated and invested within dynamics of the three whose lives has been totally affected by the twisted words and actions of another.
The variety of Author's in this anthology gives the reader totally different views on a similar subject, this gives a wonderful selection of talent and style giving you a breath of fresh air as each book is started while taking us into this fascinating area that is a huge part of our world yet seems to often be bypassed. The fascination of the underwater world with all it's myths and legends gives these talented Author's an opportunity to go into areas not before considered in their storyline's.
I am truly stunned and amazed by how engrossed I found myself throughout all of these books, so I read the anthology in one night, finding each book drawing you onto the next.
A superb selection of different Author's who have created a terrific collaboration of their work for us to totally enjoy.
