Rate this book
A new species threatens war. Only an old enemy can stop them.

ITF Director Bill Taggart is losing control of the new planet. But more troubling than those threatening to disband the peace treaty is a group of genetically altered super humans. After eight years spent in isolation, the group, composed of former World Government elites, is active and stealing power from New London’s energy grid.

When Bill confronts Simon Shaw and Tanya Li, he discovers much altered beings from the humans they once were. Tanya says she wants the power to heal the weakest among them. But when Bill discovers an unlimited energy supply belonging to the Indigenes has been accessed, he suspects she’s lying.

Simon’s confirmation of his suspicions sends Bill into a panic. Can he stop Tanya before she gains full access to the one place that could destroy the Indigenes?

Bill and his team must rely on old foes to win this latest battle to save humanity.

Genesis Variant is the sixth book in the exciting Genesis series. If you like broken heroes, edge-of-your-seat drama and evil masterminds, then you'll love Eliza Green’s penultimate installment in the bestselling series.

Eliza Green tried her hand at fashion designing, massage, painting, and even ghost hunting, before finding her love of writing. She often wonders if her desire to change the ending of a particular glittery vampire story steered her in that direction (it did). After earning her degree in marketing, Eliza went on to work in everything but marketing, but swears she uses it in everyday life, or so she tells her bank manager.

Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, she lives there with her sci-fi loving, evil genius best friend. When not working on her next amazing science fiction adventure, you can find her reading, indulging in new food at an amazing restaurant or simply singing along to something with a half decent beat.

Eliza Green’s GENESIS VARIANT is more than just another fabulous science fiction read, more than another fantastic addition to the Genesis series, it is a tale that brings some pretty thought-provoking issues to life, all while being pure reading entertainment.

Prepare to head to the future, a new planet sustaining a genetically altered human species and the discord that has arisen when a secret group sets out to usurp the tentative peace Director Bill Taggart so desperately tries to maintain.

Is humanity destined to destroy itself one way or the other? Will the desires of the few ruin the needs of the many? Indigenes, humans and a new altered super-human contingent are on the brink of disaster and even as his personal world is crumbling, Bill must find a way to save his world, even if it means playing nice with old enemies…

Twisted villains with a twisted dream, heroes doing what they can to save the situation and turmoil, just like what once brought Earth to its knees, Eliza Green beamed me up into her world, reunited me with familiar characters and wrapped me in a cocoon of intrigue and tension that grew more taut with each scene.

I am a huge Eliza Green fan and once again, she has my head spinning with her gift of storytelling!

I received a complimentary ARC edition from Eliza Green! This is my honest review!

In many ways, the structure of this book reminds me of the first one of the series.

It begins with a number of characters stories running concurrently and changes between these threads with each chapter. Like the first book, this one builds very slowly for the first half of the book as you try to figure out how each thread is somehow going to relate to the other pieces of the story.

Once they start to come together is when the story really took off for me and this was when I couldn't put the book down - I just had to know what happened next. In fact, I think I read the second half of this book in about half the time it took me to read the first half.

As with the other books in the series, character development features strongly in the style of writing - both in developing existing characters and when introducing new characters. I'm particularly excited to see where things head for Laura and for Ben. Also, I spent a fair part of this book feeling like there was a bit of a mystery surrounding new character Clement so I'm hoping I'm right and that this is developed further in one of the future books in the series. I'm certainly keen to keep reading and find out.

Despite being science fiction, Eliza manages to keep a sense of reality within her books in that the good guys don't necessarily always triumph, not everyone lives and sometimes some of the bad guys don't really get what's coming to them (at least not yet, anyway - who knows what's in store for them in the future).

Eliza is an author who somehow manages to wrap up the story in a book, but, at the same time leave you with that cliffhanger feeling that tells you it's not over yet and you need to read the next book.

Note; I received a free RC of this book in return for my honest and unbiased review of this book. I enjoyed this book and eagerly look forward to reading more in the Genesis series.

Am I glad I read it - absolutely
Was it a waste of my time - not at all
Would I sit down and read it all over again - yes, I would
Would I read more by this author based on this book - yes, I need to read the next one now

I love science fiction and Eliza Green has written a series I devoured. Genesis series is so well written and builds a credible world, similar to Bladerunner or iRobot, in one of humanities possible future's.

Genesis Variant is book no 6 so you must go back to the beginning and read for it to all make sense but there's enough to help a new reader in this one too.

As always we rely on craggy old Bill Taggart to be our narrator to help us link events as he moves around Exilon 5's communities, Indigenes, humans and now the former ITF who have hidden away to become a superior human race, but what is their agenda other than to live forever?

With added layers comes the need for different perspectives and the second narrator is thug Marcus Murphy. He links the Earth based stories to Exilon 5's picking up at the point of his escape from earth. He is just as despicable, cruel abs power hungry as we expect but gives the reader a useful insight to places Bill cannot go.

As always there are twists and turns no one expects and you have to read to the end to pick up hints of what might come next.

I was given a free copy by the author for my honest review.

I loved reading this book! It was full of action, and new events. We were back on Exilon 5, with the action between different factions from Earth, the Indigenes, and the old leaders, who had made themselves quite different and it was fascinating to see a third group so imaginatively described.
By now there were few new faces, but as this series has a wide group of characters already, that was to the good. Often a series that is on the sixth book has become repetitive, but this hasn't and I really enjoyed the new problems, action and I found the story kept me engrossed all the way through the book.
I found that the stage had been set for an interesting issue for the next book - what will Tanya do next? I think I can say that without any dreaded spoilers, and I must admit I can't wait to find out!

I've been reading Eliza Green's books for a few years now, and I've never been disappointed! Book six in the Genesis series has yet again left me wanting more, and I can't wait until the next and final installment! There's only one problem. What to read after book seven comes out!

I received a free advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Loved returning to the 6th in the series and that wonderful characters. They had made much more of an impression than I realized, remembering the characters quite well from the previous book. It all felt like going home - on another planet. Looking forward to book seven. I hope Green finds more devotees. She deserves them. Love having found an independent author I truly enjoy.

Just another great read in the world of Bill Taggert, Stephen, Marcus & the rest. Falls right inline with the prior books in the series. If you haven't read them then take a look. Very interesting... John

Advanced Indigenes cause problems between both the humans and the original Indigenes, while previous characters make their way to Exilon 5 to create a bigger rift.
