The discovery of an engraved bowl draws sterling silver expert Abby Strickland into a world where nothing is what it seems… where majestic sailboats unique to the Chesapeake Bay are called log canoes… hammered doesn’t mean drunk…close friends become fierce competitors in the race for the coveted Governor’s Cup Trophy.
Does the story of a century-old murder stay in the past or lead to blood and chaos in the water right in front of Abby’s eyes?
Was it an accident or was it revenge?
Does the color purple lead to the killer or to a secret that puts Abby in danger?

I have read all 5 of these mysteries set on the Western Shore of The Chesapeake Bay. They were fun with many twists that kept me engaged. The characters were very believable. I learned something new in each book as they each explored an area of interest in this part of Maryland - Christmas traditions, open air art events and log canoe sailing competitions were a few. I recommend the entire series as great escape reading!
I’ve loved all of Susan Reiss’ books, especially her In Time series. However, the lack of editing in this installment is surprising for a writer of her caliber, making it difficult to read.
As a devoted fan, I’m hoping for a smoother experience as I dive into the next book in the series.
A trophy made of hammered silver is what made Abby go to the yacht club. Log canoe races ended in murder. Susan Reiss writes of how revenge love and trust.
