Jasmine Johnson and Alec Alvarez hate each other. Alec believes Jasmine got her job in their prestigious law firm because her father owns the firm and won’t stop reminding her about it. Jasmine needs to stay as far away from Alec as possible because she can’t practice law with a criminal conviction. And, Alec is an assault conviction waiting to happen. When they are paired to work together on the murder case of the year, Jasmine and Alec realize they have to find a way to work together. Yet, they get more than they bargained for when passions burn and flames ignite. Jasmine and Alec are about to find out that the line between love and hate is paper thin.
Rilzy Adams needs only five things to survive: sushi, coffee, Prosecco, cuddles and words (though not in that order).
She's a lawyer by day - writer by 'whenever she can get the free time' and believes that love makes the world go 'round. It is no small wonder, then, that she can't help but pen tales of people falling in love.
This is enemies to lovers and work place romance at its best! I loved Jasmines and Alec’s story and the sprinkle of suspense was so good. I look forward to reading more from Rilzy Adams.
Rilzy Adams made me go through so many emotions in When Love Ignites. Jasmine and Alec definitely never saw themselves being together at the beginning of the book. In fact, those two hated each other. More on Alec's side because he has a lot of Wrong opinions on Jasmine and constantly complained that she was working there because her dad was the boss of the company. When they get assigned to work together, they thought it was the end of the world. They never thought their love story was about the begin.
I love these books, yall. I adore Adams' writing so much. I became a fan instantly when I finished reading the second book in this series, Will You Be Mine? (It's JT and Hallie's story! So good) So of course I needed to read more. When Love Ignites has a hate to love trope and that's one of my favorite romantic tropes! So you bet, YOU BET, I was going to read it. And I did. It was wonderful and as I said, all the emotions left on the field for me. Happiness, swooning, fear, sadness and joy.
This has the "i dislike you but i want to do you" trope. Just read it please. The little moments between them, how they get to know each other and slowly start to like each other, that was so fun to read really. Such an amazing romance!!!
I literally could not wait to read this story. Reading the three previous books, I felt that I desperately needed to hear the story of Alec and Jasmine. I wasn’t disappointed. The chemistry they had for each other was oozing off the pages and they had a great connection.
This book shed light on how easy it is to assume that because a person is wealthy, they are entitled and spoiled. The book moved at a steady pace and I loved how easy it was for Alec to apologize for his misconceptions and make amends.
This wasn’t your typical romance novel. The suspense, twists, turns, family dynamics, and an unexpected revelation kept me at the edge of my seat, wanting more. I thought the characters were thoroughly developed and Alec’s background gave us a better understanding for his actions towards Jasmine. The set up for Jasper's story was so exhilarating! I am clutching my pearls.
I enjoyed this story, it was so worth the wait. This is a definite MUST READ!

This book was disappointing. The story was too fast, the characters were shallow and there were a lot of cringy moments. The suspect was pretty evident since the beginning and nothing that happened made sense. I was hoping to read a fluffy enemies-to-lovers but this was not it.
First of all, that cover? Unmatched. The inside? Fantastic, because Rilzy Adams can actually do no wrong. While I knocked a star because I think they resolved their differences too quickly, and I don't love romances where the couple are together 20% of the way through, I LIKED the couple together and individually. I loved the more suspenseful plotline as well.
The structure of the story and the writing was good. This book has been my favourite out of the series so far (which isn’t saying much) probably because of the murder mystery aspect of it, but I was annoyed that they never revisited the outcome of the case and how that affected the boyfriend who was accused. Even though there was enough information to piece together what probably happened, not having it written in a concrete way felt like a loose end the author forgot to take care of.
Something else that annoyed me was how predictable every book is. They’re virtually the same story with slight differences which makes continuing to read this series a bit monotonous. In every book, it ends with an engagement or marriage, in every book the friends and family see the love before the actual people involved and always shove them in that direction, etc. It’s boring… but it’s not a bad book at all. Like I said the murder mystery aspect saved this book for me.
This is a book I could read within half a day given the length, but it took me a week and a half because I kept putting it down and struggled to revisit it. It was cool but I don’t know if I would recommend it to anyone
Jasmine is such a sweet, forgiving character, I am sorry but people were walking all over her including Alec- he got it way too easy, not only did he judge her but he said terrible things about her.
I think this is my least favourite from the series thus far, yes there are tons of intimate scenes but again Alec just rubbed me off the wrong way, I thought we would get more interaction with the siblings or the in-laws but there wasn't much of that aspect to. Alec was giving leach vibes, you move into her house, he didn't even suggest his place like do that at least or pretend to offer up your place. The story really ignited because they went from negative zero to beyond a hundred chile, very cringe. Also why didn't Alec's family help that much with the wedding organizing, jist the little sister is mentioned.
Positive side, we finally get a glimpse of what Jasper is going through after it been dangled through 3 books without any indication of what's up. The murder mystery suspense was a nice twist especially with how they liked documentaries like that.
Rilzy Adams continues to introduce us to rich characters during her Falling Like a Johnson series. Adams creatively teaches her readers lessons about assumptions, judgement, broken hearts, and egos. Jasmine is the only Johnson sister to her brothers and a twin of Jasper Johnson. She’s an attorney for her father’s firm. She’s known for success and her intelligence. She wants to be a successful attorney who helps free Tyler who is being tried for murder. But, she is challenged by Alec who is rude, nasty, and hateful towards her. Alec is also an attorney for the Johnson firm who wants success as well, but he finds himself making Jasmine miserable at work. As they both end up having the same goal, they learn what happens when you misjudge others and only see things from a misguided perception. You will not be disappointed, but make sure you read the first three books in the series.
This has to be my favourite of Rilzy's so far! You'll see my skipping around the books because I'm actually not a huge fan of romances with babies involved haha. I'm here for the drama and the smut to be honest, and of course great chemistry and hopefully humour. This one had it by the bags. Alec and Jasmine are sexy as hell and Type A people who fight and fuck hard. Love every second of it, love that Jasmine holds her own against him as well as the world and I love that Alec realizes he fucked up and fights to make up for this. The climax and drama were real - was here for this slightly unbelievable drama haha. I'm an EATING these books up, honestly. They are so quick to read and Rilzy does so well to create a family of characters you just fall in love with.
A wonderful contemporary romance. Jasmine is a driven lawyer at her rich father's company. Alec thinks she's a spoiled brat and he's an absolute ass about it. But then they're forced to work together on a criminal case and sparks fly. Honestly these two characters start out hating each other and by halfway through they're the softest couple imaginable. Things move really quickly in their relationship, from Its Just Sex to genuine affection to deep and lasting love but the pacing felt just right. (fair warning - the case they're investigating involves sexual assault and there's some violence in the story.)
For over a year Jasmine and Alex Alvarez have hated each other. She's named him Satan and he thinks she's just a spoiled, rich, entitled brat. He knows nothing about her. He's bad mouthed her to anyone who will listen and it's pretty common knowledge in the firm. Thing is, Jasmine is a damn good lawyer, and although her father is the head partner - his children do not get preferential treatment. When the two are paired together on a murder trial, bets are made if one of them will end up dead, but the Devil is tall, dark, handsome, and oozes temptation.
Everything and more contained in this book. There were so many unexpected turns and twists. thrilling romance and compelling mystery. I cried, screamed in despair, gasped in panic, and laughed aloud while reading Alec and Jasmine's story. Indeed, Rilzy's most recent creation is among her finest. I'm eager to find out what happens next, especially since Jasper's journey comes to an abrupt end. This is one of the book I anticipated most from this entire series. Amazing writing. However I would have liked if more research where legal terms were concerned nevertheless this was an excellent story.
The saying, there's a thin line between love and hate, could not be more true for Jasmine and Alec. He hated everything he thought she was. She hated him because of the way he treated her. When forced to work together, the fireworks took off! So sweet to see Alec apologize to Jasmine for misjuding her. Their chemistry was 🔥! Once he got to know her, the love he felt for her was everything. What an interesting twist with the case! Loved this couple, and the story! Great job! 👍
Jasmine and Alec are two attorneys in the Johnson's Law Firm. Alec starts out harassing Jasmine he feels that Jasmine is entitled and the only reason she has her job is because of her family we all know that's not true. The two are forced to work together and Alec comes to realize that not only is she smart but she's down-to-earth. Alec begins to fall in love as they start to work closer and closer together. I'm really happy for Jasmine she's been through so much in love. I really love the story here very nice job Ms. Adams.
This book was everything and then some. So many twists and turns I wasn't expecting. Exhilarating romance but also intense intrigue. Alec and Jasmine's story had me laughing out loud, crying, screaming in frustration and gasping in fear. Truly this latest work is one of Rilzy's best. I can't wait to see what comes next, especially as Jasper's story comes crashing down.
Besides the fact that the enemies portion of the enemies-to-lovers trope only lasted for less than 75 pages, I cannot stand when a book's epilogue is about someone other than the protagonists. If I wanted an epilogue, I'd want to hear about Jasmine and Alec. This wasn't Jasper's book. If Rilzy wanted to give a teaser for his story, she could've done it after the epilogue. It left a sour taste on my mouth and I'm disappointed.
This was the best book of the entire series so far. Character development (and demise in some cases) was top tier. The spice was also better in this book than the others. However, I did not like how the epilogue neglected to wrap up Alec and Jasmine's story. This would be a five star read if not for that. The epilogue would've been more fitting for the prologue in Jasper's book.
It was nothing but love for Jasmine and Alec once they decided they didn't hate each other. Although I felt Alec's behavior and attitude towards Jasmine was immature, I can definitely understand where his animosity stemmed from. These two just seemed to click, there was a hint of suspense... Overall a great read.
two lawyers who hate each other have to work together on a big murder case 😌 it's written by Rilzy Adams so obviously it was a super fun, quick read. i do feel like the romance development was a little rushed and not 100% satisfying but it was still super fun, and it's so cool to see how much Rilzy has grown as a writer in the past few years
Rilzy was IN HER BAG with this one here!! Enemies to lovers…YES!!! When they fell, they fell hard!! But baby the dramaaaa!! Baby girl almost lost her life!! The suspense and decline with Jasper stressed me out the most. But the epilogue…baybeeee, let me gone and start book 5 cuz i been ready!
I'm loving this Johnson family series. It's starting to simmer and is almost ready to boil. I.I'm sure Jasper's story will be something else. Alex and Jasmine's story was very nice.
Super fun and cute! Well written with characters you quickly fall in love with. The switch from "enemies to lovers" felt a little rushed, but they were still a cute couple to read about. Plus, the plot outside the romance also kept you guessing.
This is the second book I read in this series and I liked this one better. Now that I'm writing this after a few hours since I finished reading the book, I think Jasmine and Alec's love is one of my favorites, even though the book itself might not be a favorite but it was fast to read.
This book got better and better as the story unfolded between Alec "satan" Alvarez and Jasmine "princess" Johnson. This story was very interesting through to the last page--no spoilers. Loving this family and the series so far and plan to continue to do so.
I think this was my favorite of the series (but I liked all of the first 5). Like the others, it had a strong surprise twist. I liked that Jasmine turned all of Alec's biases about her on their head and that he was able to admit he was wrong.
*I'd like a story about the subplot between Alec's best friend Riley and his sister Ilana. RA left the door open for that to develop.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
*SPOILER* No woman wants to hear about a man insecure about a woman's wealth. That was a turn off, but the story and the characters were interesting so I kept pushing and I really enjoyed it!
