Minecraft isn't my thing, but this anthology had short works by an amazing mixture of people, including Hope Larson, so I wanted to give it a try. A couple of the stories were weak, but they were all interesting attempts to convey the world of Minecraft in fictional form. What I found interesting about Hope Larson's story was that it connected with the actions of "real world" players, in particular ones whose enjoyment of a game consists of making the game less fun for other players. "A Pig's Tale" was surreal, in sort of a Looney Tunes kind of way. "A Strange Shore" was a wordless tale of success in a way that might not seem like a traditional adventure. You may not like all of the stories, but for me that's usually true in an anthology.
My two devoted Minecraft fans greatly enjoyed this one at bedtime, and despite how clueless I am about Minecraft, I enjoyed these, too. It's a quick read, just six short stories that offer some unique and varied artistic and narrative takes on the game and its players, ranging from silly to dark to even... romantic? Or as romantic as a tale of "When Pillager met Witch" can be.
Lmaoo I shouldn't be reviewing this as a useless adult but here I am. I enjoyed the mini stories like one might enjoy Lunchables :') Way past that age but they're still a fun snack and maybe it's not exactly filling and it's of varying quality, but yeaet. I have a challenge to meet and this book is a book that I have read

The pillagerxwitch story made me want to throw up ahahahaha no.
I enjoyed half of these, and disliked the other half. It’s like, some of them were well made, and others were just simply confusing or boring. I read it too long ago to give an accurate age rating below or make this a long and detailed review, but as far as I remember, if you, or your kid, are old enough to play Minecraft, this book is perfectly appropriate for you. Avid fans of the games will definitely find this book worth reading, even if some of the stories don’t really hit right.
Bit of a mixed bag. The first few short stories ended too abruptly for me and left me wondering what the story was even about, the last half of the book was more my style though. A Pig's Tale was my favourite of the bunch.
There are some good, some great, and some eh, stories in here. The pig one is my FAVORITE. Oh wait, maybe the Creepers Tale is my favorite. It's a tie. A wonderful tie. The kiddo (7) also loved those two. Highly recommend if you like graphic novels and minecraft :)
Purchased it to read with my son who is an avid Minecraft fan. Though I enjoyed the book, there were moments of sarcasm and darker themes that were uncomfortable for him and we ended up "skipping" them when we read together. Definitely suggest a pre-read to determine your kid's comfort level.
Instead I got several wholesome stories about friendship, overcoming differences, and kindness. They were surprisingly satisfying and well-written! I would recommend this for adults as well as any kid.
This book has multiple stories in it with different styles. Some of the styles make Minecraft look silly. I don’t like most of the stories in the book either because they are confusing and some are weird. The only reason this got 2 stars is because of the story with the pig. The cartoons look good and the story isn’t as bad.
Pretty good little stories. My kids liked them, but sometimes things happened that aren't actually possible in the game, and that annoyed everyone slightly.
