Morality Matters : Race ,class, and Gender in Applied Ethics ( McGraw –Hill, 2002 ) .
This is my first book I will read to Jeffrey R. Di Leo, professor of English and philosophy at the university of Houston – Victoria .
In such an incredible book Leo , as an editor and author of over 200 articles reviews , creatively succeed in expressing his main ideas about how do race, class, and gender issues affect moral philosophy. He complements classical and contemporary readings with materials drawn from film, fiction court cases and current events to create highly flexible and versatile volume .
He introduces ethical relativism and human rights in addition to the major traditions in moral theory .
" if we can better understand why we should do certain things , such as why it is right to help poor during famine , we will learn how to lead good lives "
" How we should live and why we should live this way ? Socrates said .
This sophisticated book will sweep me up in its pages and doesn't let me go until the final page .
