The book dealt with the way we become bound to people, places, and even objects without realizing the impact it can have on our lives. It read like a study in human behavior, particularly in relation to habits and addictions we form. I couldn't help but keep hearing the lyrics of "Old Habits" by Hank Williams Jr. in my head as I was reading, and it is true that there is no new thing under the sun- we might think our situation is unique, but some one somewhere has seen it before and may have some insight on what we can do to make it better. I recommend this book for anyone that is serious about changing the destructive patterns that impact their life and is prepared to go after the root of the problem and not just treating the symptoms.

This is not so much a book as it is the first - draft of a manuscript in need of a good editor. The authors contradict themselves in several spots, can't seem to decide to whom the book is addressed, don't define their terms clearly, and offer advice which is largely too vague to be useful.
In other places, the authors make interesting assertions, only to immediately change the subject without backing up or even explaining their assertions. Example: Manipulation in the workplace is witchcraft. Whoa... In what way? Are all successful businessmen witches and warlocks, then? I don't know, because having made this assertion, the authors change the subject without offering an explanation.
I've worked with undergraduate students who could organize their thoughts more effectively than this. I wish the authors well, and strongly advise them to hire a new editor for their next volume.

Another interesting read by the Clarks. They expounded more in this book on the connection between our thoughts and emotions. It was good to read some additional ideas on prayer, and the information about addiction, including pornography was interesting.

While I expected this book to focus on spiritual healing, it approached our struggles, habits and hang-ups from a more psychological point of view. This was fine and helpful, because the book offered practical steps to overcome addictions and free ourselves from toxic relationships.
