Dominic and Tristan have been together for almost a year. So everything's got to be plain sailing, right? Not quite. Not if you ask Dominic. Tristan's a bundle of energy and crazy ideas at the best of times. Add in Christmas, and it's a recipe for disaster.
That's not the only issue. There's also Tristan's mysterious absences and secret phone calls to contend with. Dominic might be insecure, but he's not crazy. His boyfriend is definitely up to something, and neither family nor friends seem interested in listening to his concerns. He won't jump to conclusions this time though. He'll talk to Tristan. Only what do you do when you can't get a straight answer out of the man you love?
When Tristan's secrets are revealed, will their first Christmas together also be their last? Or is Dominic about to discover that all his worries have been for nothing?
Only time will tell.
A story containing Christmas snark; a drunk Tristan; snow; and absolutely no mention of spiders—well alright, maybe a few mentions.
Please note that this novella features the same characters as A Temporary Situation, therefore should only be read after reading that one.
H.L Day is a teacher and a writer. She enjoys writing far too many different sub genres to stick to one thing so writes everything from rom-coms to post-apocalyptic sci-fi. It's just the way her brain works. H.L Day lives in the UK with her elderly black cat that she accidentally stole from her next door neighbour.
I have to ask, how someone who acts like an overgrown puppy, like Tristan does, got to be CEO of a company? He was simply exhausting! Sweet, but exhausting!
Of course I had to read this short Christmas story with Tristan and Dominic right after their full length novel. They are as snarky, adorable and hilarious as ever in this one. Christmas in September.🎄 🎅 🎁

I still love Tristan. He was just as annoyingly sweet, and tempting; and boy, did he rub Dom the wrong way at times. Then there was Dom, still as sarcastic as ever, and loving. Despite the fact that it happened, he hadn't gotten over being uncertain that he had really won the man of his dreams.
I requested these books knowing that I would enjoy it and I surely did. The small change in book one [edition one] did not hinder my enjoyment, just opened the door for more that could happen. Now that Tristan and Dom were together officially, they were back on the path of their own happy ever after. The laughter, the cynical eye rolls and the loving continues. And yes, even Dom's uncertainty. I still wish for Tristan's voice as once again the story was from Dom's POV. I am hoping for a wedding book that will change this.
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author through LesCourt.
I liked this one better that the previous book. At least, Tristan and Dominic are together now, and ot's Christmas story! It was fun, fluff, sweet and enjoyable. I finished it in one sit, it was more entertaining than the first book :)
Although I got a little exasperated from Dominic's insecurity, it was still enjoyable. It had sweet, clever banter and I felt it was a good short story.
I loved and adored A Temporary Situation, so I was thrilled to get more of Tristan and Dom. As expected, there was snark and laughter involved, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can’t wait for Paul’s story!
hL Dsy's A Christmas Situationis a holiday bonus that continues the story of Dominic and Tristan from A Temporary Situation. They have been together for about a year and things have been wonderful and they are deep in love. Then, Christmas time arrives and brings along some issues, along with a certain ex fiance back in town and Tristan seeking to be hiding a secret from Dominic. When things come out in the open will it bring them closer or tear them apart.
Holidays are a true test for relationships. You have the stress, the secrets if trying to surprise someone, crazy family and friends coming around. It also makes for a fun and sweet romance story. These guys are funny, sweet, sexy and I just love them. I really need to read more of them and their friends.
I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
A Christmas Situation is a bit of a holiday bonus novella that gives us a glimpse into the continuation of Tristian and Dominic’s relationship. It’s been a year since they’ve gotten together and they’re still going strong. Or so it seems. Tristian has been acting extremely secretive and disappearing from the office a lot more than usual. Poor Dom thought he knew what he was in for when it comes to Tristian. He doesn’t even know what he’s in for when it comes to the holidays.
Tristian is a bit overzealous when it comes to Christmas surprises involving Dominic. I feel like he may have overstepped buuut Dominic liked the results so I can’t find fault in it. I did expect the little surprise at the end and was excited to see it happen! My lips are zipped, so you have to read it to find out what I’m talking about. But yay!
Overall, an excellent addition to Tristian and Dom’s story.
A Christmas Novella from H.L. Day featuring Dom and Tristan.
Dom and Tristan have been living together for almost a year now. In fact, the anniversary of the first time they'd slept together, aka the start of their relationship, is fast approaching. And Tristan is out of control. His zany antics and horrific decorating style has Christmas vomiting in their apartment, traumatizing Dom, and he's up to something. Okay Dom has some trust issues - a lot of trust issues - but Tristan is DEFINITELY up to something... the question is will Dom and will their relationship survive? Will the company survive yet another Christmas party? Will there be spiders lurking?
This was a cute, snarky, drunken romp of a Christmas Novella and made me realize just how much I love Dom and Tristan. They are just so. Darned. CUTE together.
This is a good glimpse at Dominic and Tristan's relationship. While I enjoyed the first book because of Dominic's snarky attitude because he was protecting himself from being hurt by falling for his boss, who he thought was straight, but mainly because Tristan was his boss. But in this book, he is working on his insecurities of being with a handsome and successful man and Tristan has proven time and time again he's trustworthy and that he loves Dominic with all that he is. The book seemed more open-ended than the first one, but I loved their time together as they went away from Christmas and can't wait for the next one!
A Christmas Situation is an excellent supplement of the story of Dominic and Tristan. Dom is still snarky and bold, but he is also still a bit insecure. Tristan is still the lovable, clueless goof that Dom fell in love with in A Temporary Situation. I had forgotten how happy these guys together make me. I laughed. Oh boy, I laughed. When I'm done writing this, I am going to reread both books... just because. The storyline is interesting and so very funny, the (sometimes humorous)passion is intense, and the continuing HEA is very satisfying. I enjoy this author and look forward to more.
This was an absolute balst to read. It's ot often that a sequel tops the prior book, but this novella did just that :) Tristan is still the same, seemingly oblivious to everything except Dom and anything he wants, while Dom is still his snarky self. And they are as much in love as before. Dom still second guesses Tristan's feelings, luckily Tristan does a good job (in his own 'take no prisoners' way) of convincing Dom that he is it for him. There are a lot of funny moments, but the trip away is by far the best. Just know that Dom is an evil genius, lol! I can't wait for more from HL Day!
I recieved an advanced copy and the opinions are my own and without bias.
So I like Tristan and Dominic, and I was glad to see them still together and moving towards a forever together. I was a bit annoyed at Dominic, though. Even from book 1, Tristan was all in and never gave Dom a reason to doubt him. All of the issues were due to Dominic's insecurities. Luckily, Tristan was patient with him, and we got to see some super sweetness between the guys. I'm really looking forward to the story of their wedding. I just hope that Dom's insecurities are finally gone.

Tristan and Dominic are a brilliant couple who compliment each other perfectly. I absolutely love Tristan, his humour, persistence and kind heart make him adorable, if you can keep up with his enthusiasm for ... everything. He is like an adorable toddler😂. I can't wait to read the book covering their marriage.
Sweet, funny and very entertaining. 2 novels in the series that could be read as stand-alones and this short could follow either one as those are written within the same timeline but this is about the MC's in the first book (Temporary Situation) so you should at least read that one first. Other shorts are available via the author's website/e-mail.
Absolutely loved it it was amazing to catch up with Tristan and Dominic again these two together wow so adorable the banter the fun between them is something special. Tristan as plans for Christmas and trying to keep it a secret from Dominic well you need to read it to find out can't wait for more from these two brilliant.
I had to read Dom and Tristan’s sequel. These characters are delightful. I could see following their lives through their marriage to deciding to have kids to old age. They are truly wonderful. Thank you so much HL Day for introducing me to these characters.
It was nice to catch up with the guys 6-12mth later. We still see Dominic and his insecurity and Tristan doing everything to surprise Dominic in his attempt at forever. We have been promised another glimpse HOWEVER it won't be until after Paul and Mr barman get their story.
I absolutely loved getting back to Tristan and Dom...Tristan is still amazingly funny but he knows how to worry Dom with his secrets....Poor Dom just didn't know what was going on....A really great follow up to A Temporary Situation for christmas and a must read x
Yay we are back with Tristan and Dom! I love that it is a Christmas story. It is great to see how their story had developed for the last year. Still a very funny story that I just love. Tristan is just my favorite character right now. Just another great read.
This is book 2 about Tristan and Dominic. I like learning more about their relationship in this one and how they spent their first Christmas together. It’s sweet and romantic. I really loved it.
I’m glad we are getting a book 3 as well!

I loved getting to revisit Dominic and Tristan. Add in a holiday story and I'm sold. There's the snark I love and some really sweet moments between these two. I hope we see more of them down the road!
Tristan is such an interesting character and I am not sure who is needier, Tristan or Dom.. I love their dynamics together and can't wait for the next book.. Love 😍
Tristan is so clueless sometimes makes me wonder how he is able to run a business. Dom is so snarky. Putting these two men together is a wonderfully weird entertainment.
I expected more from this book. In my opinion, it was a little lame. It didn't draw me into it. I thought the characters were a little childish especially , the CEO.
