Seishuu Handa is trying to survive the antics of the little kids in the village and the rumor mill. In this collection of adventures some kids misunderstand stranger danger signs, Handa tries to get a cat and it backfires, he goes shopping for ink and buys everything but, a local teen is super confused about how she feels about guy/guy manga stories, Handa lands himself in the hospital with overwork and the kids freak him out with ghost stories, he helps the kids with their summer calligraphy homework, and then he supervises a trip to the beach.
Some aspects of this are super funny, and others are so awkward and unnecessary that I want to pitch it across the room. I debated a 2.5 rating and rounding this up to 3 stars, but the uncomfortably awkward and completely unnecessary content overwhelms the funny. I think I'm done with trying this series. It's too bad because the premise has promise.
Notes on content: A handful of minor swears. As mentioned, one of the girls is conflicted about how she feels about guy/guy romantic manga (an illustration is shown of two kissing at one point) and then she's convinced there's something going on between Handa and another local guy...and it is uncomfortably awkward. The nurse at the hospital keeps telling Handa don't do things because she's a married woman (also uncomfortably awkward, Handa is completely innocent). Exhaustion results in hospitalization. Handa believes the ghost is real at one point.
