I showed up on his doorstep. At midnight. Missing 45 years’ worth of time.
I’m Cassie Gearhart, and the last thing I remember, I cast a spell in 1974. Then, I woke up on a rainy July night to find it was 2019. And the entire Willow Creek Coven—my coven—was gone.
Well, there is one witch left in Willow Creek, Virginia: Nick Felson, the grandson of my high priestess, a brooding farm boy with magic in his blood and a chip on his shoulder.
Every time we get too close, love—the most powerful of magicks—draws us together. The passion? It threatens to be our undoing.
There’s a whole host of other problems, though. For one, Nick wants nothing to do with magic—and therefore, with me, a witch lost in time.
For another, the sinister magic that took the coven? It’s not finished with us.
It’s barely getting started.
Don’t miss the first book in the Tangled Magic Series, perfect for fans of the witchy magic of Charmed and for anyone seeking paranormal romance with a small-town setting!

4☆ A Great Start to an Enthralling New Witchy Series!
Tangled Roots is the first book in a New Adult Paranormal Series and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I'm fairly new to the Paranormal genre, although I do love a good Vamp book.
Cassie has a special ability, she is able to cast spells. Having escaped her family and her past because of her magical abilities, she finds safety in a Covern. Escaping her family wasn't easy and she is terrified of her Brother. So she casts a spell to stay hidden from them. But spells can come with a consequence and hers is that she has time slipped 35 years and all that she knows is gone. Including the Covern that has welcomed her in.
But it's here she meets Nick, who she discovers is also a Witch. But Nick is Emotionally wounded and because of his past he is sworn off magic.
But can Cassie convince Nick to work with her and find out exactly what went wrong? Or is she destined to stay exactly where she is?
It's quiet clear to see that Nick and Cassie have a spark, and it was nice to watch there relationship flourish between them.
Tangled Roots is an Enthralling read, full of Mystery, Danger, Excitement, Magic and a Sprinkle of Romance. The Characters are complex and well written. The pace was just right for this magical mystery, it held my attention and kept me intrigued which is perfect.
I'm looking forward to the second instalment. I have to say Denise may have just ignited my spark for Magic / Paranormal mystery books again. So a big thank you!

Witches. Spells. Love. A magical modern day Sleeping Beauty story if Aurora was part of a witch's coven.
I am loving this First book in the Tangled Magic Paranormal Romance Series by Denise D. Young, and I absolutely cannot wait for the rest of the series. The book opens in 1974 where Cassie Gearhart is found after being in hiding from her abusive family. Cassie performs a spell, and with a Goddess' help allowed her to escape her family. It is now 45 years later and the coven has vanished and the only one left is Nick Felson who has sworn off magic.
Nick at only 23 years old is a broken man. The only witch the torrent left behind - ready to start anew and away from what he calls his home in the farm, Saunders Farm House built in the 1920's, in Willow Creek, Virginia. Nick was ready to sell the property and move to Arizona until one night, Cassie came knocking on his door.
Denise Young writes a beautiful story that is fast paced and truly a magical love story between Cassie and Nick. Once I started this amazing read, there was no way to put it down. There is so much excitement! The attraction and connection of these two characters were undeniably electrifying and oh so supernatural. I loved the characters, and the world Young has built. The story is also wrapped up nicely for the next installment of this mystical read.
I received a free copy of the ebook from the author and my opinions are my own.
This is the first book in a new series and I have to admit that, having read this story, I can't wait to read what happens next! Cassie Gearhart escaped her family when she left school as they tried to prevent her using her innate magical abilities. She was bullied by her older brother who attempted to enforce their parent's edicts so escaped as soon as she could.
Fate intervened and she ended up living with a lovely, supportive coven but her brother tracked her down and was coming to get her. Cassie went into the nearby woods and cast a spell asking the Goddess to help thwart him. She didn't realise the spell would have repercussions until she 'awoke' thirty-five years later to discover the coven has vanished, leaving behind only Nick Felson. Can the two work together to discover what happened to the coven? Can she convince Nick to embrace his own magical abilities again? Can they resist the magical attraction growing between them?
This is a well written, enthralling story that I thoroughly enjoyed escaping into. The character development is great, bringing them to life in the pages of the story. The relationship development between Cassie and Nick is, perhaps, a little rushed but it is still magical. The ending definitely eager to read future books in this series! This is a fast paced, magical mystery with plenty of intrigue, suspense and surprises.
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.
I picked this book up because I saw it was a novella and plus I have not read anything romance-y or witchy in a while and thought this would be a nice snappy read. Well, I was right, what I did not expect is the fact I am sucked into Cassie and Nick’s world already and would very much like book two now!
It has got a label of being an 18+ due to the steamy romance and of course sex! I did find that this element was a bit rushed and felt a bit forced but they were having a lot of fun who was I to stop them. Maybe the pull with witches are different but the connection that Nick and Cassie feel and fall for each other is all very quick and intense. For someone who has been asleep for forty-five years, well she certainly wasted no time! That being said I did enjoy the dynamic of these two, Nick is a closed-off and stilted character, something happened in his past and he has decided the time is now to move on from the farm but what happened in his past? Cassie has years to catch up on and a lot has happened since she went “away” can she adjust? Despite this, the connection they do have is truly magical and it does work. Both are flawed and both have their own demons to face and I look forward to the journey they have to go on.
I really did enjoy this story, being a novella a lot has been packed into the pages. I did think one element was rushed near the end, but it has left it open for the next book and I am looking forward to seeing where we are taken to next. It was quite cute and it made for an easy read whilst enjoying the magic of the witches and prophecies to be fulfilled.
It is an exciting series and Young has left me wanting more and wanting to know what happens next. I feel there is something big going to happen in the next book, something that will destruct the world we know it. I love the pacing of the book even if the end was a bit rushed because the story is so intriguing I want more, or maybe Young has cast a spell on me? The only way to know if this is sorcery or not is if you read it!
Tangled Roots (Witches of Willow Creek: Tangled Magic Book 1) by Denise D. Young will delight the senses of paranormal lovers. The intrigue was so great that I had to go back and start at the beginning as I inadvertently started with Tangled Fates which is the second book in this series. So, from the beginning and the first book Tangled Roots is a great paranormal tale that is a fantastic start to this series. This story tells of one Witch who finds herself lost in another time knowing there is danger on its way. What is the old saying “be careful of what you weave?” Well apparently, this Witch wove her magic, and it went wrong. With witches and magic, drama, and romance. This short story kept me glued to the pages. I cannot wait to see what Denise gives us next.
I received this book through a Goodreads giveaway. I enjoyed most of this book. This story definitively had an original idea and it will be interesting to see where the story goes from here. However, there were a few things that I did not personally like about the story. I wish that the relationship between Nick and Cassie would have been a bit less easily excepted by them. I did like the chemistry and relationship between them. However, it just felt to easy. Perhaps if a bit more had been explained about their connection or it had been a little more drawn out I would have liked it better. I also felt that it was too easy for Cassie to get out of trouble in the end. I did however love that Ginny made a folk lore story about that she told her grandchildren. The connections definitively made me smile. All and all I did enjoy this book.

Tangled Roots is a quick and easy read which will leave you hooked and wanting more.
*stamps foot*
I need answers!
*blushes*
I apologise, but you all know I have zero patience.
Cassie and Nick’s story evoked all the feelings and memories from my teen years when my friends and I were obsessed with all things magical. We wanted to be our own version of the Charmed sisters *snorts*.
I still remember one of my friends sneaking in her Book of Shadows to my house and my mum having a fit, lol.
*shakes head*
Sorry (again!), I digress as usual.
Back to the matter at hand...
I’ve never read a time slip story before, and I was intrigued about how all the elements (see what I did there?) would intertwine.
You could feel the magic weaving itself as each new strand of the story unfolded.
Cassie and Nick have an instant connection which leaps right off the page. It’s that sense of ‘rightness’ they have when they’re together. Like being two halves of the same whole.
I know I’m being vague, but on some occasions, less is more, peeps. I don’t want to be struck down with size-seven-in-mouth-itis – i.e. giving too much away. Heaven forbid *smirks*.
I’d definitely recommend this read to fellow PNR-loving readers who are looking for something out with the norm (even for PNR!).
An enchanting start to a new series by a new-to-me-author!
I really loved the way Denise Young captures her characters. Cassie is a witch from 50 years in the past. She casted a spell that sent her sleeping inside of a tree to be awakened when the time came for such a great need. While Nick does have a chip on his shoulders, but it comes from losing everything that he loved. When the two characters come together, they feel a gigantic pull towards each other, like they were meant to be together. It is the two of them who try to solve the mystery of why Cassie is brought from the past into the modern day as if time traveling.
‘Tangled Roots’ marks the first entry of Denise D. Young’s ‘Tangled Magic’ series. It tells the story of Cassandra ‘Cassie’ Gearhart, a witch who is thrust forty-five years into the future to an unfamiliar 2019 with no recollection as to how or why. Suddenly finding herself without the support of her coven, Cassie finds solace in the arms of one Nicholas ‘Nick’ Felson— the grandson of her dear friend and the last witch left in Willow Creek after mysterious events that Nick is reluctant to disclose. For a story centering around witches and the mystical, a deep and rich magic system is key, and ‘Tangled Roots’ nails this aspect. Young explores the intricacies and rules of the magic that the witches wield in a way that isn’t just mere, dull exposition— she takes the time to actually show readers how their powers work through, for instance, the characters performing magic themselves, rather than outright telling the audience. Through the use of vivid and striking descriptions, Young establishes a creative and imaginative world thrumming with life— it almost inspires me to whip out an essential oil or two just to try my hand at some of the spells depicted. Her detailed world-building goes beyond the sphere of the magical and to the mundane as well, as she captures the feel and character of a tight-knit, small town like Willow Creek so well, it and its residents could be real.
The biggest draw of ‘Tangled Roots’, however, are the characters that Young has crafted and the relationships that exist between them. The heroine, Cassie, for instance, is a strong, stubborn and powerful witch with such a compelling background and personality, you’d be hard-pressed not to want the absolute best for her. A female protagonist being rendered into a waif damsel-in-distress is an issue that I’ve encountered in many books similar to this one, but Cassie couldn’t be further from this. Yes, she is distressed, and yes, she is vulnerable, but she herself has the strength to overcome the obstacles in her path and to take charge and take matters into her own hands. There are also many other fleshed-out female characters, such as Ginny, Nick’s grandmother and Cassie’s mentor, and the elusive and cryptic Guardian of Willow Creek, who seemingly has big plans in store for Cassie and Nick. The relationships between these women are complex and profound— ridden with things both said and left unsaid and heavy with a sense of foreboding and intrigue.
The most captivating relationship, however, is between Cassie and Nick themselves. What struck me the most was how healthy their romance was when this genre is often plagued with relationships bordering on dangerous. Nick is a gentleman through-and-through— always ensuring that Cassie is comfortable with their level of intimacy before proceeding and putting her feelings and needs above any misgivings he may have. The two connect and support each other like a real loving couple would— lifting each other up when the other falls. It was truly sweet and heartwarming to read about how much they cared for each other.
In conclusion, if you have a hankering for a story filled to the brim with magical destinies, supernatural enigmas and fascinating characters, I cannot recommend ‘Tangled Roots’ enough. It will satiate this need and then some.
Cassie Gearhart is a young witch trying to escape from her family so that she can practice the thing she loves most, magic, her element is the air and she is powerful, so when she goes into the woods behind her adopted home in 1974 to cast a spell to hide her from her family, she doesn’t bargain on the price she must pay to do it, she is transformed into a tree and that is where she stays for forty five years. Nick Felston is a young man with tragedy written all over his features, he feels responsible for things which happened in the past and because of this, he refuses to use the magic he has been born with and has decided to sell his family home and move far away to the desert to escape the looks and comments of the people living in his small town.
The day he speaks to the realtor and signs the paperwork to sell his house is the day a huge storm breaks, it scares him more than he will admit to, but at the height of the storm and in the middle of the night, he is distracted by a knock on the door and when he opens it and comes face to face with a woman who looks like she has been sleeping in the woods and is more than bedraggled. This woman is Cassie and she has just been freed, however, she has no idea how much time has passed, so she is surprised to see a young male witch instead of her friend and when she asks to see the owner of the house, her high priestess of the coven, she is devastated to find out that her friend is dead. Nick is not very hospitable to begin with, but he does offer Cassie some tea and a blanket from a chest in the corner and tells her about the amount of time which has past since she cast her spell, however, Cassie isn’t feeling welcome, so she decides to head out on her own and find somewhere to figure out what is going on, this is when Nick realises that the woman is telling the truth that she has no idea what year it is and remedies his mistake and goes out into the storm to find her.
When they get back to the cottage, Cassie and Nick talk a little and come to an understanding, however, the next day, the attraction between them starts to blossom, however, both of them are scared at the magnitude of their feelings and Nick tries to push Cassie away, but after a few days pass, they struggle to keep denying it. The one thing they cannot deny is that their magic is drawn to the other so strongly that they realise that something deeper must be going on, that feeling increases when they meditate together and both have visions, but will they be able to overcome their hesitancy and work together to figure out what the visions mean, or will their dark pasts come back to haunt them? This is a paranormal romance in a small town where unexpected things can happen and the unpredictability leaves you wanting to know more.
Tangled Roots: Witches of Willow Creek is the first book in the Tangled Magic series by Denise D. Young. This is a great paranormal romance with a small town setting, time travel, witches, magic, danger, adventure, drama, agendas, and much more. I have come into this series a bit backwards, having started on book #2 first, but each story could be read as a standalone, with out feeling lost or like you are ‘missing’ anything. Having said that, I am glad that I went back to read this first book- as it really does set the series off to a great start. Cassie Gearhart wakes up in 2019- what happened to the last 45 years? She is determined to find out what happened in the ‘missing’ time. Her coven is gone- and the only potential help she can find doesn’t want anything to do with witchcraft and magic. What will happen- especially with danger approaching? What ensues makes for a fantastic story about a witch lost in time. Can’t wait to continue the series.
The Willow Creek Coven has been a sanctuary for witches for many years and it’s no different for Cassie. When her brother threatens to take her home where she can’t practice magic, she begs the Goddess to keep her hidden from him. When the Goddess brings her out of hiding, Cassie steps into a world she doesn’t recognize anymore and the coven consists of only one man who refuses to practice magic anymore. Things will have to change though because a shadow is settling over Willow Creek and more than just the witches’ lives are at stake.
This surprised me in the best of ways and I really enjoyed my time reading this. It’s super quick and pretty short but it feels like the author covered enough to really make the story feel well rounded. One of my favorite parts is the small details of connecting the four elements to different creatures who represent them and asking for their blessings before practicing magic. I’ll be interested to see what happens next, especially with the romance. It felt a little quick but with the details included in the book, it didn’t feel forced.
Tangled Roots (Witches of Willow Creek: Tangled Magic Series Book 1) By Denise D. Young 4 Stars
This book is full of witches and magic. Cassie is need of help. She doesn’t want to be found so she casts a spell asking the Guardian for help. Magic has a price and the Guardian helps in the most unexpected way. They say everything happens for a reason. Fate brings Cassie and Nick together. The chemistry is instant and their love sparks an intense passion. There is an evil lurking in Willow Creek and it’s set on destroying everything and everyone. Can they survive it?
This is a good introduction to the series. The author presents the characters for you to realize that you will fall in love with them. Cassie is a wonderful, caring person with a strength of character that Nick needs. She will help him grow and gain confidence. Most of the action happens at the end of the book and the author throws in a few surprises. The book doesn’t fully end on a cliffhanger but it leaves you wanting more.
Cassie In 1974, to escape my brother who was seeking me to bring me home, I created a spell of protection from the Guardian of Willow Creek. I couldn’t return home. I wanted to stay in Willow Creek. The next time I awake it’s 2019. I reach the farmhouse in Willow Creek that was once home to the leader of my coven only to discover that she is gone along with everyone from my former coven. The only one left is Nick Felson, her grandson.
Nick That night in 2018 has never left my memory. I haven’t used magic since that time. I’ve just met with a realtor to sell the farm. I can’t stay here any longer. I don’t need magic to keep me happy. I’m ready to move on. Then Cassie shows up at my door.
Their magic speaks. Voices tell them it’s not over. Willow Creek can still be saved, but how?
For witch lovers everywhere, Tangled Roots is a story that Denise Young has woven with magic in every word. Nick and Cassie are wonderful characters. Their story makes you cheer them on in the hopes that they can save Willow Creek.
I enjoyed this first book of a new paranormal series, and am already looking forward to the next book.
Cassie is a witch who escaped her unsupportive family and found a coven who treated her as one of their own. When she hears her brother is close to finding her she casts a spell and makes a deal, which ends with her sleeping inside a tree for forty-five years.
Nick is also a witch, but as the only survivor of a disaster that wiped out his coven, he's turned his back on magic and is about to leave his family home and start anew. That is until Cassie is released from the spell and comes knocking on his door.
Can Cassie persuade Nick to stay and help her figure out why she's here now, and what really happened to Nicks coven? Read the book to find out!
The relationship between the two main characters seemed a bit rushed, but all in all, this was a quick-paced, easy read with engaging characters and plenty of intrigue.
Fun paranormal read. I really enjoyed this book, the characters were easy to fall in love with and the story was interesting. There are many different connections between the different characters and the author introduced the connections seamlessly, everything flowed so nicely. I don’t know how I would feel if I were Cassie, living in 1974, then after being put under a spell wake up 45 years later. It is nice that she finds Nick and their connection is cemented and their relationship starts to bloom. The reason why Cassie shows up the year she does after being “asleep” for so many years is a nice twist to the story. It seems she is there to help Nick solve the reason why his Grandma and mother have gone, and then with the way his brother Evan played a role in everything, I was completely lost in the story. I can’t wait to see what happens next with these characters and their adventure.
"Be careful what you wish for." It is a perfect way to describe the deal Cassie made with a Goddess in 1974. In desperation to stay out of her abusive families clutches Cassie strikes a deal that may have saved her, but it has also trapped her in time. Fast forward 45 years and she reawakens in the woods where she cast her last spell. What she doesn't realize is that the whole world is a different place, her coven and high priestess are all gone and all that is left is a male witch named Nick. Problem is he hates magic and won't use the power he has.
Although there is a 45 year gap between then and now and the story itself is fast paced, Denise D. Young made the entire story and character development flow naturally. Not many authors can do that so eloquently. That alone gives this book 5 stars in my opinion. This story was also filled with magic, adventure, love and passion and I loved every minute of it. I cannot wait to read the next book.
This is beautiful story about two lost souls. Cassie And Nick find each other at the most unexpected time, but the right time. Nick is currently living in present day and trying to escape a town based on gossip and assumptions. Unable to take the whispers any longer he plans to sell his grandma‘s home and start fresh away from the whispering words. As he’s preparing for his new life he then meets Cassie, Cassie is from 1974. At a time that she should be young and free she’s being imprisoned and abused by her family. She’s a witch who wants to explore her magical abilities, but her family does not allow her to do so. In her unhappy state she runs away and finds refuge within a witch coven. Her new found freedom is short-lived when her brother is sent to find her, and desperation causes her to do the unthinkable, As we watch from past to present we experience true friendship, first love, and unforgettable magic.
I enjoyed this paranormal fantasy story. This is the first book in this series and what a great start it is. This is a well written story that has characters that bring the story to life on each page. They are relatable and made the story engaging. This is a faster paced story about Cassie and a spell she casted forty-five years ago which by the way is the last thing she remembers. Nick is the only other witch in this small town Cassie finds herself in. The problem comes in that when they are together passion flares and it could be their undoing. Will they find the coven? What will fate have in store for them? There is alot going on in this shorter story but it keeps you turning pages and it certainly is entertaining. They have great chemistry and just made great characters. I highly recommend this book.
Denise did a fantastic job getting this story started. I have always been a fan of stories about people out of time. Add in magic, a coven, and a story with ENORMOUS potential for growth?! I'm hooked. I read it so quickly I wanted to re-read it and get started on the rest as soon as possible. Cassie is a witch out of time with a story of her own to tell. Nick is running away from his magic, but cannot help the pull of Cassie and their interwoven destiny. I am so glad to have found this author! The mystery surrounding everything that has happened since Cassie was transported through time and what could potentially happen now that they are on the right track is gonna keep me addicted to Denise's writing for as many books as she has to offer! Don't pass up the chance to read this story and follow this author. I know I'm glad that I did.
5 Star Tangled Roots (Witches of Willow Creek: Tangled Magic Series Book 1) by Denise D. Young
Tangled Roots is the first book in the Witches of Willow Creek: Tangled Magic series by Denise D.Young. I truly enjoyed reading this fast paced Paranormal romance that one you start you won’t want to put it down till you finish. This is a story about Cassie who is a witch that’s running from her family. She casted a spell in 1974 and wakes forty-five years later and its 2019 and the spell is the last thing she remembers. Nick's the only other witch in this small town and when these two get around each other there is definitely some passion there. Can they find the Coven? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.
Tangled Roots (Witches of Willow Creek: Tangled Magic Book 1) by Denise D. Young. If you’re looking for a book that’s got just about everything in it you could possibly want go get this one right now. I typically need to be very in a paranormal type stories. But this one had no problem grabbing my attention and keeping me firmly hooked from start to finish. Each character brings something unique to the storyline and they pulled me into their world with ease and I loved getting lost in the pages with them. This was a bit of a faster feeling paced storyline but it wasn’t rushed and lacking in that regard. It’s easy to read and has a great storyline. The author does a wonderful job of making a story world you love being in. I’m giving this a four star review and highly recommend it. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
Tangled Roots (Witches of Willow Creek: Tangled Magic Series Book 1) by Denise D. Young. I really enjoyed this book. Its the story of Cassie who practices magic and when her brother threatens to take her home so she can't practice magic so she begs the Goddess to hide her from him. When she comes out of hiding she doesn't even know where she is. When she went into hiding it was 1976, when she wakes up its 45 years later. The place she awakens is where she cast her last spell. All of her coven is gone except for a guy named Nick and he hates magic and refuses to practice it. Once they meet sparks fly and romance is in full bloom. Cassie is a strong willed, stubborn and a very smart lady and Nick is smitten with her. Will their relationship work out having to deal with this new world she's awaken to or will she sadly end up back with her abusive family! Read Tangled Roots to find out!
I loved this book! It was right up my alley for paranormal romance. Cassie Gearhart, fresh out of highschool escapes a family who has made her suppress her magical nature. In an attempt to hide from her older brother she makes a blind deal with the Goddess. Fast forward 45 years, Cassie stumbles back to the farmhouse she has come to know so well. Only to find that the inhabitant is no longer the woman she knows but her grandson, Nick Felson.
After tragedy struck the small town of Willow Creek, Virginia, Nick had sworn off using magic and had plans of leaving forever. Until Cassie showed up. Both Cassie and Nick can feel the way their magic calls to the other, it’s like they are meant to be, or at least meant to use their magic together for a larger purpose.
I would recommend this book if you are looking for a nice easy read with a great story line.
Tangled Roots (Witches of Willow Creek: Tangled Magic series book 1) By Denise D Young Is a fun, entertaining Witchy read. While I found it a quick read that could also be simply because I didn't want to put down. I wanted to know what was coming next!
Sweet Cassie has arrived in Willow Creek 2019 after casting a protection spell in 1974! just a bit of a time difference there right? She meets Nick who has been refusing to even acknowledge his magic after tragedy took his Coven a year ago. Their connection is undeniable and even though Nick isn't happy about possibly having to use his magic again, he knows deep down it is the only way to protect not only themselves but their Coven and Willow Creek.
Tangled Roots really has wonderful, lovable characters and an interesting story line so if witches and magic full of heart is your thing you need to get reading right now!
This was a great first book in the Tangled Magic series. I love how the author combines paranormal and romance and how the author creates characters that are believable.
Cassie is a witch. After escaping her family she becomes part of a Coven at Willow Creek. When her brother comes to get her and bring her home she casts a spell for help so her brother can't find her. That was in 1974.
Fast forward to 2019 and Cassie finds herself awake back in Willow Creek and nothing is how she remembers it. Cassie meets Nick. Nick turns out to be the grandson of her former priestess of her Coven. Nick is reluctant to have anything to do with magic but as much as they try something magical is drawing them together.
Why are they drawn to each other? What happened to Cassie's Coven? What magical force is working to push them together and what dark force is working to destroy them all.
Tangled Roots (Witches of Willow Creek: Tangled Magic Series Book 1) by Denise D. Young has captured my fancy and is not letting go. Anyone who is a fan of time travel stories (like Outlander) and witchy fiction (such as Practical Magic) will fall in love with this story, which is set in the small town of Willow Creek, Virginia. Cassie Gearhart is a fantastic female protagonist and an easy character to relate to, even if she is a witch who has been asleep for 45 years. And then there’s Nick; the grandson of Cassie’s former High Priestess, and the only witch left alive to represent the coven. The author is an artist the way she weaves 1974 and 2019 together via Cassie. The imagery and details are rich and poignant, and Tangled Fates, book number 2, is next on my to-be-read list. I highly recommend this book and author with 5 stars!
If you like Charmed, you’ll lovethis coz it’s got a male witch in it
This was an enjoyable read about magic & witchcraft, travel through time to find a fated mate. Wishing to escape her brother & being dragged back home where magic is forbidden, Cassie makes a wish that goes awry. I loved the fated mates angle and the Southern charm the author instilled in both Nick and Cassie. Together they battle otherworld forces for balance. Although the end was a bit abrupt (I was bracing myself for book 2 with the same characters), but it turned out to be a standalone. All-in-all, if you like witchy books and Charmed the series, you’ll love this one coz it’s got a male witch in it. If you are not a fan of rituals or wiccan lingo, this one is probably not for you. Recommended for lovers of witch romances, & sweet fated mates romances.
Forced to take extreme measures to ensure her own freedom, witch Cassie Gearhart’s spell changes the course of her future. One minute she’s in 1974, the next she wakes and it’s 2019 and everything she once knew has changed. Inexplicably drawn to the only witch left in Willow Creek, and incidentally, the grandson of her mentor, Cassie and Nick have to navigate the chemistry between them while also dealing with an urgent matter. It’s hard enough to deal with forty-five years of change, but on top of that add the mystery of the magic Cassie and Nick are feeling and that of the mystery of the magic that stole the coven of Willow Creek and you have Tangled Roots. This is a quick read that brings you into the world of magic and a promising new series of a small-town coven.
