The night before her million-dollar wedding to steel magnate Dorian Hawthorne III, Olivia Peretti meets a handsome stranger in her hotel bar who quells her cold feet and assures her all will be fine. And all is fine … until the following day—when that same stranger shows up at the ceremony with the sole intention of objecting. And his reason? It’s one that Olivia never could have anticipated.

I this was a meh for me it was hard to connect with them.. the first chapter has Olivia and Gabriel talking about her fiance if she should marry him or not.. and he just ehh.. i felt no alphaness no "shes the one" even when i heard his pov... he liked her and wished her luck in his head.. he only did something cuz his ex wife was a cheater so when he caught her fiance cheating he couldnt let that happen to her...i liked olivia better then gabriel honestly since he was still bitter about a 7 year divorce and thought about that for 7 years until he met olivia... plus the ending was rushed.. with sex.. i would have been okay with no sex since she just got out of a 2 year relationship and walked out of her fiance leas then 24 hours..
I gave it a star cuz well i loved the cover... maybe if we get a epilogue maybe ill rate higher.
Angst, No cheating (from the mc), drama, not a manwhore and not a virgin.
The night before her wedding to billionaire Dorian, Olivia meets Gabriel, a handsome stranger at the venue's hotel bar who quells her thoughts and doubts about her upcoming nuptials. Their connection is instant and unexpected. The next day, Gabriel objects at the ceremony, awakening Olivia to the truth about the man she was planning to marry. Olivia's vulnerability brings her closer to Gabriel, who is at the hotel for reasons of his own. This was just a beautiful story that I loved reading. Since this was a novella and very short spanning only 5 chapters, I was left wanting more like I typically do in stories of this length. Nevertheless, it was simply perfect! ❤
** I received this book for free on Winter Renshaw's website. **
I instantly liked this one! It was such a fun one! It made me forget that I was having pains from running.. I wish we got a bit more closure with Dorian and Elizabeth. But I'm actually really happy with this one! It made my work out much more fun!
Terrible editing and proof reading, a hero so wishy washy that he makes Mr Bingley seem a heroic character, and a strict HFN, which felt more like a cliffhanger than HFN.

Wow. My first read by this author and color me impressed. The best of the read me romances I’ve read in a while. The narration was perfect.
I only had three small problems that took me out of the story. Ones a good beta reader or editor should have picked up.
One - Gabriel objects and Olivia’s inner dialogue says he speaks loud enough so the back row could hear. The only problem with this line is that Gabriel was in the back row.
Two - Gabriel mentions that the woman was Elizabeth. He saw her that night. I would think he would have mentioned he noticed she was a bridesmaid???
Three - Olivia request to see a picture like it was obvious he would snap one. Who would think that s “guy” would take a photo of the couple in a public space? With all the Etiquette she talks about, seems unlikely. Who would think he’d have had the sneaky opportunity to do so. This isn’t a forgone conclusion. I think the realistic question she should have asked was: “Do you have proof?” But really, if he had pointed out the woman and given a name of a stranger (Elizabeth) that should have been proof enough.
Still, I would have given this one 4.5 stars and rounded up if not for the fact that she did have at least a few words with the culprit whom she called her best friend. That seems as important as the conversation with the groom.
And thank god there was no insta love. Authors take note. You don’t have to say I love you to make a great romance story.
Overall, a really good read. I would totally read more by this author.
I would've rated it higher if the ending hadn't been so rushed. I enjoyed the first four parts we got from the podcast so it all just kind of fell flat for me.
I listened to it for free on the Read Me Romance podcast!
I liked the characters in this one but there wasn't enough romance, just some kind of tacked on at the end. Maybe this will be worked out in the ebook version.
I had this little itty bitty, couple chapter novella on my Kindle since it was released. Was just passing it by when I thought..today is the day I'm going to find out what The Objection is all about.
So glad I did, about 30 minutes and 50 pages later, I had my answer, a big smile on my face and another great, but short story from Winter Renshaw lingering in my head and heart.
You can probably surmise from the title what the topic might be of this little story but you might be surprised to see what a complete story with a HFN it would be for its length. Great story..Winter, how about a quick epilogue about 5 years down the road? I would love to read more!
Olivia is ready to fulfill the dream of many women, including herself. After all, who doesn't want to find the perfect guy, say yes in a beautiful dress, on a nicely decorated altar, and live their own version of happily ever after? The problem is that the day before her marriage, her intuition says that something is wrong. Every time she thinks about the future, she doesn't see Dorian, her fiancé, in her plans and dreams. And after a few drinks, who better than the guy at the bar counter to be your loving advisor?
Marriage is a constant and delicate theme in Gabriel's life. As a handsome family lawyer, the matter is part of his professional life. However, in his personal life, this is the last agenda he wants to talk about after his own divorce. And when a beautiful blonde approaches him in a hotel bar, he expects everything less than become the guru that can save or destroy her future marriage. And after an unexpected discovery, approaching the altar may become inevitable for him.
Olivia will find out that walk down the aisle is easy, but changing her marital status may not be. When your marriage turns into a movie scene, a decision based on hard evidence can change her destiny forever. A short, romantic story that reminds us that not all that glitters is gold and how the unexpected can be the path to long-sought-after happiness. When you just trust your intuition.
Gorgeous cover, unique concept, terrible execution. Winter Renshaw is another new to me author, thanks to the Read Me Romance podcast. I love the idea of a wedding being broken up due to cheating. It makes for the perfect amount of drama, especially when the bride-to-be is already plagued with uncertainty. But past the story line, I wasn't a fan of this book or these characters.
Olivia was all too calm for the scenario, I wanted to see some emotion from her other than deflecting and redirecting to Gabriel. Gabriel felt like a very flat, one-dimensional character, he had no personality. Olivia and Gabriel together was simply a snooze fest. There was no undeniable chemistry and given the way that things played out I felt that the ending was extremely rushed. It was like, I bail on my wedding then jump into bed with the stranger, because that's what they are.
There was no substantial relationship building and everything felt sloppy, especially the ending. I wish they would have gotten to know each other better. While Olivia did have a moment of anger towards Dorian, where is all the anger towards her piece of sh*t best friend who was sleeping with her fiance?! It was like everything got brushed aside because fate brought her Gabriel, sigh, hard pass on this book and author.
Olivia is at the hotel bar the night before her wedding. Drowning her nerves, wondering if she's doing the right thing marrying her fiancé. Gabriel happens to be at the bar and she unloads on him. Not long after she leaves the bar her fiancé comes in and is waiting for another woman. Gabriel witnesses this and proceeds to "object" at her wedding the next day. The story was decent....but rushed. Maybe it's just me (and I realize this is fantasy), after finding out the fiancé is a cheat it felt off that she would jump into bed with a stranger....and that IS what Gabriel is, a stranger. A rushed sex scene does not an romance/ending make. Although, those who buy the book may get more satisfaction if W. Renshaw adds more for the purchasers.
I feel really bad about this rating but this story just didn't do it for me. I think it was a good beginning but just meh. The sexy times just seemed thrown in there at the end just to say we had some sexy time in the story. I think I would have been fine with no sexy time and they just rode off into the sunset.
This specific video review will be included in the April wrap-up.

Ohhh, I loved this one on how the story actually flowed very well for this novella. It was such a cute listen/read that leaves me wanting more! The narrators were perfect for this book!
I listened to the professionally narrated audiobook on the Read Me Romance Podcast for FREE!
Listened to this on the Read Me Romance podcast and I have to say, it was one of my favorites on the podcast so far. I liked the characters and the story (even the douche had his part) and I honestly liked that it was low on the sexy times. I could definitely read more about them and their HFN story.
A smart, sassy heroine meets a sexy mysterious hero at a bar before a wedding & things are not what they seem... Ugh, I loved this novella & given it ended w a HFN, I want (read: neeeeeeeeeed) much more!! Oh, and as for Brian Pallino voicing Gabriel...(insert chin lift here) how you doin’? 😜😜 Mmmmm, yum!!! 4⭐️’s
I really liked this one. I thought it was well written, there was no insta-love (definitely insta-lust) and there was more depth in this than I would have expected. Plus I loved the narrators. I thought they both did a great job. This was my first Winter Renshaw book, but it definitely won’t be my last.
This is probably my favourite of all the Read Me Romance novellas so far! The book is about Olivia, who, when the book begins, is due to get married the next morning to Dorian, a millionaire. She is questioning her decision to get married in the hotel bar when she meets Gabriel, a handsome divorce lawyer. The two have a heart to heart and the next day, Gabriel objects at the wedding (I won't spoil why!) and he helps Olivia escape.
I LOVED the character of Olivia, she was so strong and independent, especially with how she reacted when on the phone with Dorian the day after the non-wedding. I also liked Gabriel. I've seen some reviewers unhappy that there wasn't any insta-lust/possesiveness on his behalf when he first meets Olivia, but I actually liked that! Instead, his first impression of her is that she is a kind person, and you get the impression that he respects her as a person, rather than wanting to 'own' her as a sexual thing (which is SO common the romance genre). The author somehow made it possible for them to have a genuine development from strangers with no insta-lust to lovers within a super short book, which is impressive!
I wish we got a little more of them together as a couple, but I'm sure that will come in the epilogues when the e-book releases!
3.25 stars. Quickie review- I listened to The Objection on audio on the Read Me Romance podcast. In this book, the heroine is in a hotel bar the night before her wedding, having some doubts that her fiance is the one. She meets a man and vents to him before deciding she is being silly and is going to go through with the wedding, leaving the bar. The man in the bar is still there when the heroine's fiance arrives with another woman that he is clearly having an affair with. So that scenario leads to the man objecting at the wedding and helping the bride run away from the wedding. I liked the story in the book and the narrators. I just did not feel the romance between the hero and heroine. Their meeting and everything between them was very platonic. They never speak of attraction to each other in their inner monologues or anything. So, to me, any kind of romance was not believable and came out of left field. There was no chemistry and I just didn't believe they would have an HEA after such a short time and brief interactions. Still, I did find the book entertaining to listen to and the story interesting. It just wasn't my favorite book from the podcast.
The objection is a story that was featured on the read me romance podcast. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout but I was disappointed that there was no bonus content. That aside, I liked this story. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. Having cold feet on the night before her wedding, Olivia Peretti finds herself confessing to a stranger in the hotel bar. Gabriel is at the hotel for his own personal reasons. He wanted to be alone yet he enjoyed talking to Olivia. When Gabriel sees something linked to Olivia, he knows he needs to tell her. He cannot let her make the mistake he did. I really liked that Gabriel did what he did. He took a risk and it paid off. He had Olivia’s back throughout despite barely knowing her. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and an enjoyable read. You can listen to this story for free on the read me romance podcast.
Not usually a fan of audio books (I find my mind wanders too easily), I wanted to give this podcast a try because ... well, Winter Renshaw.
There was something about the female narrator that irked me. She seemed too perky when reading the story parts between dialogue, even during serious scenes. The male narrator's voice was sex personified, bringing to mind Sebastian Stan for some reason. (Don't ask. I have no idea.)
The story itself is fine, though I would have liked actual consequences for the cheating fiance and the now former best friend. Others have mentioned the rushed ending, and I kind of agree. Though I'm not sure if it's the story itself, or if it just felt that way because of the female narrator.
I will continue to read and enjoy Renshaw's writing, but I'm not sure if I'll try another of the Read Me Romance podcasts in order to do so.
Short and sweet, The Objection wastes no time getting to the heart of the story. It tells the story of Olivia, a woman who is questioning whether she is making the right decision by getting married the next day. She meets a handsome stranger in a bar, and they strike up a conversation that will change the course of her life.
There’s not a ton of depth to the story since it can easily be read in under an hour, but Winter Renshaw’s skill as a writer shines through in how complete the book feels. It’s not really instalove, but it is fate and a great, quick read. The only real downfall for me were some glaringly obvious mistakes in the text (using the wrong character’s name, etc). It wasn’t enough to take away from the story, but it was enough to distract me. Overall, it’s a sweet and interesting novella that’s definitely worth an hour of your time.
One of my favorites of the podcast so far! The Objection is really more of a HFN instead of an HEA, but given the really small amount of time between the story's beginning and end, and HFN makes a lot more sense. Plus, they're just so darn cute together, I have high hopes that given just a little more time they'll have that HEA in the bag--making this one of the few Read Me Romance books that I'd actually consider buying the ebook for when it comes out, just so I can see more of them together :)
This was my first book by Winter Renshaw, but definitely not my last!
