John Oakes' book, Reasons For Belief, gives the most detailed evidences and support for the Bible in one location that a person can find. This is a classic work and highly recommended for anyone who wants to find reasons for faith in the Bible, support their existing faith, or share their faith with friends and family. The book includes many photos of historical and biblical archaeological evidences.
I have mixed feelings on this book. Parts of it were good, parts inspiring, and I'm certainly glad I read it. ...But I'm not sure I could recommend it to any not Christian friends. The reason being that there were a number of parts I felt leaned more on emotion, and even attempts to shame or embarrass those who don't find the authors points. It seemed like there was rhetoric meant to slam home how powerful such-and-such example was, but it came across more like the author wasn't willing to let his research and historical facts stand on their own. It's wild, because I agree with the author about the hard evidence for faith in Jesus and I found most of his points valid, or at the very least thought provoking. But the delivery was one that I feel would only reach those who already believe, potentially leaving those who are searching or just reading out of curiosity feeling talked down to.
