There's a new intern at Longfellow, Peters, & Associates, where Angie Russo still works part-time, Peter Peters, and is he ever creepy. Angie suspects he might know about her and Octo-Cat...
After the mildly disappointing book 3, I was very much looking forward to DOG-EARED DELINQUENT, and it was certainly not what I'd hoped for. It was much more suspenseful than the previous book, but I was not pleased with the plot twists. It turns out that DOG-EARED DELINQUENT is little more than the introduction to the author's upcoming series, Paws & Probable Cause, which I will definitely not read. I felt my time was wasted; I did not enjoy this book, I avoid paranormal cozy mysteries.
While I adore Nan, Angie's grandmother, and the cat (Octo-Cat; I still cannot write the name without cringing), it seems Angie keeps losing brain cells as well as seemingly having suddenly developed "giant boobs"! (Unless it had been mentioned before, but I sincerely doubt it). What is it with female authors' obsession with ample bosoms recently? This is not only Ms. Fitz, but in general, and is not reflected in my rating, however what seemed like Apple product placement is. And what was that with the episode at the electronics store? It was silly of Angie.
This book made me angry, I felt I had been duped, hence the 2 stars. It started out great, but it was in fact an unnecessary installment, and I'm guessing if you skip this one, you will have missed very little for book 5, as in each book the premise is reexplained. Only the last few pages convinced me to continue with the series. And while there is only a handful of typos, it seems hiring a *third* proofreader is in order, because "a riveting tail", really? And it wasn't a play on words.
I'm sticking with the series because it was fun, I want to see how it ends, but I will have to forget DOG-EARED DELINQUENT ever happened.
