I have actively managed my portfolio for more than 2 years, I have read some investing books and wandering around lots of cnbc cnn money wsj yahoo finance, alpha seeking, and so called the financial sector. I wish I could have this book before I joined the market, if I follow this guide, so many learning-expense can be avoid. it wont tell you how to be rich, but it will help you build a good foundation for investment and a better understanding of the security in a big picture. try read it before making any investment.
This is a very good introduction to investing. It will teach you the basics of how to invest, and how the financial markets work. Snow's book is also very readable, it moves along at a good pace, and does not get bogged down in jargon or kooky theories etc. He provides knowledgeable, common sense advice from an experienced professional. The book is well-organized and offers charts and chapter recaps, as well as some interesting anecdotes. I would recommend this to anyone who has a little money to invest and wants to learn the ropes.
The Investing Quickstart Guide is the perfect tool for beginner investors.
The book discusses various asset classes, investment strategies and how to begin your investing journey. It contains the same information typically taught in an undergraduate upper division finance class without all the math and graphs. The prose style has an informed friend feel to it.
While most of this information can be found on the internet, it is easier and faster to read it all in a single book. While the author recommends diversification, he doesn’t push any particular product like many websites do.
The Investing Quickstart Guide is a great start for new investors. 4 stars!
Thanks to ClydeBank Media and NetGalley for a digital review copy of the book.
I was just talking to my husband about our retirement investments and BAM! I won this book.
I had no idea how investing worked or whether or not I should leave it to the pros. Regardless, I still like to know what's going on when I am trusting others with my financial future.
This book laid it out in a simple and easy-to-read way that helped me understand the investing process and how I can help myself to save, and make, more money for my retirement.
The information contained in this book should be spaced out over 10-12 weeks. It is not for someone with no background in investing. I am familiar with many of the terms but this book blew through the information at break-neck speed. It is a great for an overview or refresher material but horrible if you are new to investing.
I enjoyed the book. It was very informative and the examples were helpful. Highlighted a lot of information for reference. Would highly recommend. Book was received through Good Reads giveaway.
