Opening Day: A Bad Boys of Baseball Short Romance

Rate this book
We were supposed to be friends with benefits.

He was a big league player, in town for a few short weeks of Spring Training.
I was not looking for a relationship.
It was time to focus on me for a change.
Our sexy, passionate friendship was perfect for both of us.
Until I got pregnant.
Now he’s back in town looking to pick up our tawdry affair where we left off.
But he doesn’t know about our daughter.
I swore I’d stay away from him this time.
I swore that I wouldn’t let my desire for him get to me.
Yet here we are again, in his hotel suite, with his hands on me.
I’m shameless.

But what happens when he finds out about our baby?

Will it cost me everything?

Opening Day is a light, fast-paced stand-alone romance, with a healthy dose of heat and a HEA. Perfect for readers who want spice and heart, or those looking for stories that are hot with a plot. Check it out; I bet you’ll fall in love, too.

Amber is a curvy girl who loves steamy romances, Diet Coke, and jeans that fit just right. She lives with her husband, her kids, two dogs, and a cat and somehow in all that chaos makes time to write sweet, sensual stories.

Amber's stories are hot, but they always have a plot. If you're looking for characters you can root for with a healthy dose of heat, Amber's your girl. Don't expect it to be TOO wholesome, though. Amber writes about girls and guys who get what they want, and usually, that's each other!

Surprised with this quick, cute, steamy read!
While it's a bit longer than a novella length read, it read quick enough! The difference this one has alot of plot & storyline for being a short, quick read. Big on content so that you be invested in the characters, Jay & Vanessa, & pulling for the HEA + steamy enough that you'll want more. There was several secondary characters introduced; hopefully the author plans to continue with this series & brings the readers more on the other players from the team, what can I say you will be hooked too. Surprising, yet fullfilling, so don't miss Opening Day, make sure you one-click this one.
While I did receive an copy from the author via BookSprout, I am volantarily leaving my own voluntary, unsolicited opinion with this review.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. This was a great quick read about a baseball player and his favorite lady. Vanessa works as a bartender in Phoenix. Jay Royal is the starting 1st baseman for the Chicago Cougars. When they meet on his first night in town there are sparks and an instant connection. She's going out of her comfort zone by having a one night stand, which turns into all spring break. Fast forward a year and Jay is dying to see Vanessa again, but she's hiding something/someone from him. This is a HEA that appeals to the female baseball fan.

Jay is too busy focusing on his baseball career for a serious relationship, so when he finds that Vanessa's in the same boat, the two enjoy several hot nights together during Spring Training, but then call it quits during the season. When Jay comes back next year to a big surprise, he has to decide what his priorities are.

I like baseball; I like romance; and I love it when the two main characters are earnestly trying to do the right thing, but just need a little time to figure out what that is. The only thing this novella needed was to be a full-length novel so I could learn more of their backstories.

I started this book at 6pm last night and finished it in less than 24 hours. It was just a fun read that I couldn't put it down. It had a really nice amount of romance, character development and backstory. I loved that the narrations switched back and forth. I'm not a huge baseball fanatic but after reading this book maybe I will be now - haha.

Enjoyable quick read

This book combined a couple of tropes - secret baby and sports. Both of which I love. Liked the characters and in all honesty loved that fact that the conflict was of there own making and not the act of a third party (another woman or a agent gone rogue). They just had to figure out what worked for them both and happily they did. Looking forward to the stories of the other men on the team. Thanks.

I loved Vanessa and Jay’s story these characters are engaging and well developed. What starts out as a hot and steamy one night stand sure did not stay that way. What happens next had me turning the pages to find out what more was going to happen.

Writing wasn’t bad but it was a short story and hidden pregnancy because he doesn’t need/deserve to know he’s the father, then make him prove he’ll be there. Don’t know why this type irks me so much and why I just don’t DNF when I realize that’s what it is. I might try a longer book by this author

So fun!

This was a fun and short read. I enjoyed the characters. It wasn’t overwhelming angsty but had the right amount. It is a perfect read for people looking for a romantic number in between the ugly cry ones.

I actually enjoyed this book. The author did well with character development and the story line. It wasn’t one of those quick read, insta love books which I am thankful for. I would definitely read more from this author.
