A rookie spy thrown into the deep end before he knows how to swim, Barrett Mason must hunt a fellow Texan turned Islamic extremist through London’s deadly underbelly.
Before Barrett can bring his man to justice, he must wrestle with his new mentor: a bitter CIA vet who would sooner jump off Big Ben than let a greenhorn like Barrett call the shots. Even when Barrett sees the horrible truth through the murky games of spies.
Success means laying old ghosts to rest. Failure means letting a terrorist mastermind smear the streets of London with innocent blood.
At first it was a bit dry the author was able to pull in real fast and all sudden you wanted to know more were the storyline was headed and why. As in all book you have highs and lows but to be honest there was very few of these. The story starts with a bombing in Yeman and the person Barrett is guarding is killed and he vows to get revenge. The next minute you are in London and he with an agent who stiff neck and want to do everything by the book and not piss off anyone even if it means letting the person they are surveying murders a lost of innocent people and he and Barrett fights constantly but in the end it Barrett who proves him wrong and is able to save a stadium of people and his best friends son from being killed by muslims extremist. In addition you are giving a couple chapters of book 1 to let you see what can happen and make you think about buying the series.
WOW!! Rookie Rogue character goes Rogue but definitely gets the job done!! The Lost Son by Stewart Matthews is without a doubt a page turner and you will wish to allot time for experiencing it. Evokes emotions for SURE!! Wonderful writing skills by Stewart Matthews drives home a story that has it ALL. Characters are well developed and as they say “dynamite comes in small packages”, and this one is loaded. The plot/storyline is done so well. I cannot say enough about The Lost Son as a great read ride! I urge you to delve into this book and enjoy!! HIGHLY recommend this book!
Spy Thriller in need of some serious editing. A Novella involving the CIA, nuff said. Dirty tricks and agendas that go beyond looking out for people. Prostitution, brutality against women, terrorist bombings, torture, there are no pleasant people here. Muslim prayer. Preys upon the worst of our Western stereotypes. The “hero” is Barrett Mason this book serving to introduce a series.
A good story of a newly recruited agent with a grudge against a terrorist. Does need a good editor to clean up his work, however as a writer myself. I made those mistakes too before I got myself an editor.
Enjoyed this prequel to the Barrett Mason series. Other than a few grammatical errors It was very well written. The characters are well defined and the storyline is very believable. I look forward to reading more of this series.
Great characters and lessons learned by people of all ages. Barrett Mason has learned his lessons the hard way & helps Omar make good choices, especially when he needs someone strong to unteach the lessons learned from the evil who entered his life when he was most vulnerable.
Barrett Mason is in Yeman when a bomb kills the US ambassador. Now he goes to London to find Jason Hyde the Person responsible for Setting off the bonb. a realistic Story and a good read
