While the storm of the decade is beating down on the small town of Mossy Point, Chief of Police 'Mac' McLane has his hands full. Two young people are missing. One of his trusted friends just lied to him. A young woman has mysteriously acquired new jewelry and can't seem to get her story straight about the bruises on her throat. How can Mac keep his town or the love of his life safe when streets are under water, trees are down, and it's going to be a while before power is restored? And it seems there's no end to the storm...
This is a stand alone story. While this has some of the same characters as Small Town Secrets, reading Secrets is not required.
Allie Harrison lives in Southern Illinois. She loves reading, writing, crafts, music and always family and friends! She loves suspenseful books and movies as well as cozy fires and camping.
Allie is an international best-selling author. Her books have won various awards.
Now this is what I call one hell of a read, the storm isn't the only thing raging in this town. The storm of the century is taking over this small town and giving Mac one hell of a battle. He had no idea answering his buddies call about a car going off the road that the next 30 hours would be filled with missing persons, kidnapping, lies, chaos and a shooting. This is my first read by this author and I have to say it was amazing. This is a standalone series so jumping in on the second book was no problem except I think I want to read about Mac and Lillie now. We get a glimpse of Doug and Jessica but there seems to be a big story there. It's a fast read but a poignant one that will have you turning the pages for more and spinning with the action and intrigue. Loved it and yes I will be reading more of this authors work.
Another on the edge of your seat page turner. This author knows how to keep you turning pages. It is one of those books you can't put down. This book takes you back to Mossy Point. There is a storm hitting them, that is a storm of the decade. And trouble is never far behind. Mack has his hands full. Two people are missing, the storm is so bad it is flooding and they have no electricity.. Can he find the missing people? Can he save his town from this terrible storm? Can he keep Lizzy, the one he loves safe? Welcome back to Mossy Point where nothing is what it seems. This author is amazing. I just love her book and she never disappoints. Her books are always awesome!
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. This book is the second book in a series, though it can be read as a standalone. This was a really good book. It starts off with a bang, and never really stops. The whole environment is fraught with tension, and all the moving parts are excellently crafted. This was a really enjoyable book.

Mac Lane is back in his hometown as the Sheriff facing down a huge storm doing severe damage. What do four college aged kids, robberies, a woman on a ventilator, an army vet, a pregnant woman, and a horse worker all have in common? As the story unfolds, pieces of the puzzle will come together. Some might say it was coincidence…but is it really?! This is another action-packed drama filled with crime and mystery. Lane thought those times were over when he solved the murder of the young girl in his hometown the year before. He retired from the FBI and took the position of Chief and got engaged to his long time love. But, the storm hitting his town is not just rain, wind, lightning and thunder…the REAL storm is what occurs with all these players! Allie Harrison gives us another spectacular book to read in her hometown series! I received this book for free and am leaving a voluntary review.
Reviewed on behalf of 3 Degrees of Fiction Blog Oh wow. Reading this book was like reading a mixture of CSI and Criminal Minds. I was sucked right into the story as it started smack dab in the middle of the action. I followed the bad guys, the good guys and those persons I did not know if they would turn out good or bad. In the beginning I was a bit miffed to see the bad guys and know what they were up to. That changed with the change of the point of view to other persons and then there was no escape anymore. I could not put the book down and had to finish in one sitting. The main characters were well developed and showed a uniqueness I enjoyed immensely. They were characterized and described with a few short words, but that was enough for me to imagine them as if I was sitting right next to them. I hated the bad guys and loved the good ones and hoped for others to get out of this drama unscathed. Or as unscathed as possible. I was so nervous to see how the town would come out after the storm and I was not disappointed. The end was just great! The writing style was good and easy to follow and supported the plot a lot. This was book two of a series, but I had no problem to follow the plot and it can definitely be read as a standalone. I will pick up the first book, though to get a grip on the past of Mac and see where it all started. Great book and a total recommendation for those who love a good romantic suspense.
They say lightning never strikes the same place twice, but this story lets you know there are outliers. James "Mac" McLane, Mossy Point's Chief of Police, might be struggling under the weight on his shoulders, but he just can't turn away anyone in need.
So, when doing a favor for a friend, he assumed he'd help and then move on to the next situation that needs him. Of course, he couldn't have anticipated all he'd face because of it...missing persons, kidnapping, and so much more.
But he can't change who he is, nor would he if he could. As he proceeds to work toward uncovering what's going on, all while helping his town brace for the coming storm, one labeled as the storm of the decade, he must juggle personal and professional commitments.
Can he handle it? Will he find the missing people in time? Is any of this connected to the case he solved last year? Is his small town having a run of bad luck? Is there more to come?
One-click now and follow along as secrets are revealed, people are saved or let go, and a town faces what could be their undoing. I like the premise of the story and seeing the Hero in action, his willingness to put his all into everything he's doing, but I do wish I'd read, or known, to be truthful, this wasn't the first in the series. No, I wasn't really lost, but I do feel like I would have enjoyed it more had I read the previous book.

Allie Harrison is a new to me author, and frankly, I couldn't get enough of Small Town Storm. There are some serious things going on for the small town of Mossy Point during the worst storm of the decade is beating down, which isn't doing Chief of Police 'Mac' McLane any favors, as he has his hands full. One of his buddies is lying to him, while he's got two kids missing, and another young lady has injuries she can't seem to tell the truth about, while wearing a piece of jewelry that he's sure isn't hers. And the storm keeps getting worse with flooding, and now no power for most of the town. Yeah, this story had so many twists, that I had a ton of f-bombs dropping like crazy. So the suspense factor was off the charts exciting as I was turning pages as quickly as I could. And I really enjoyed the fact that this story was told from all kinds of different POVs of those involved in the craziness. Plus, it made for a seriously colorful cast of secondaries to be honest. My one issue was the ending, it just seemed a bit too rushed, which is a thing for me. Anyway, I'm so excited to finally discover this author, and CANNOT WAIT to read more of her stories! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This book jumped right into action with a home invasion, drugs, sex and the storm of the century. After I took a breath and read on there was a terrible car accident and a hero to the rescue. I seriously could not put this book down. >
The small town of Mossy Point is being attacked by more than just the storm and Chief of Police Mac is determined to protect and serve.
I loved the suspense and the detailed events. Everything was connected in some way but left me guessing until the end. While the entire book was amazing the ending fell a little flat for me. It was GO GO GO and then everything was over. With that said I am definitely looking forward to more from this author.
I was pulled right into this short story. The story has pain, suspense, and heartbreak.
This is Mac’s story. A Storm is hitting his small town. He has people missing he needs to find but he also wants to keep his woman safe. Can he do all of that at once? No electricity and danger lurking are causing more trouble. The suspense will keep you turning the pages. With all the lies surrounding one woman can Mac figure out exactly what happened? Or will danger make sure this town does not have a easy time from the storm? In the end will he catch the danger, or will it catch him?
I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
Small Town Storm by Allie Harrison blew me away. Lightning really does strike twice and this book kept me on the edge of my seat. Once I picked this book up, I couldn't put it down. I had to keep turning the page to see what would happen next.
Well written with amazing character, the story flowed and made me anxious as I read it. Don't worry, I don't mean in a bad way. It was great and I can't wait to read all of the other books by this author. I will say that this is a second book of a series, but it can be read as a standalone.
This book is a must read. 5 stars and I highly recommend one clicking this book today!
Such a good read, but I knew it would be. This is the second book I have read by Allie Harrison and I tell you, you won't be disappointed with her writing skills.
I love small town crime books with romance and twists. That's what this is. It's your perfect crime and romance drama and thrill. I would love more from Allie Harrison and I look forward to following her.
I loved being back in Mossy Point with Mac and Lizzy. Chief of Police Mac is dealing with not only the storm of the century but also breaking and entering, theft, 2 missing people, and a drug lab.
I couldnt put this book down, and I was sad when it was over much like I was with Small Town Secrets.
Wow! So much going on in this book. A lot of side plots and still it manages to come together in the end brilliantly.
While the storm of the century hits the small town, the chief of police has to investigate a girl claiming to have been assaulted, a car that was run off the road, and the disappearance of two college kids.
Another great book in this series. As always is has a really good storyline that keeps you wanting to read more. You are welcomed back to Mossy Point where Mac Lane us sheriff, a new storm comes raging in. With missing people and so many twists and turns. You never know what will happen till the end.
When you enter Allie Harrison's world of suspense, mystery, and drama there is never a dull moment! I have enjoyed every one of her books and feel so lucky to have a chance to indulge for a review. If given the chance read one of all and you'll see why she is a well loved author!
