This is the first book I have ever read from Alisa Adams and I guarentee you it won't be the last. It was absolutely fantastic. This story was so vivid that I felt like I was swept away to a beautiful castle in the Highlands. I could almost feel the water rippling around me at one point in the story. This was such an emotionally charged novel that I have to admit I was misty eyed a couple of times. I can't wait to see what Ms. Adams comes up with next.
English Lady Sarina Bashir finds herself promised to Laird Seamus, a Highlander, that her brother Thomas has told their family is the one responsible for their father's death. Thomas plans for Sarina to kill Seamus after consummation of the marriage. Sarina and her brothers, Matthew and Harold, are set upon by bandits when they are close to the Laird's castle. Seamus and his brother Angus, go to their aid but Matthew is killed before the two get near enough to help. Harold leaves the castle before the wedding takes place to take Matthew's body home to be buried next to their parents. Thomas shows up demanding compensation for the death of Matthew and finds that Sarina has fallen in love 💘with Seamus and has no plans to do as Thomas wanted. Thomas never wanted peace and has another even dastardly plan in place for the Highlanders and his sister.
Eighteen year old Sarina💃💋 is sent off by her brother Thomas from their English Bashir Estate🏰, to be wed👰 to the nearby Scot, Laird MacKenzie🐺🍆⛲🔪, in order to keep the peace. They ride to the MacKenzie castle🏰 but are attacked by bandits while they are in sight of the castle! Sarina's brother Matthew is killed before Seamus🐺🍆⛲🔪 and his brother Angus can get there to rescue her and kill💀 the bandits.
Sarina💃💋 is supposed to marry👰 the Laird to bring the families together in peace, then kill him with a dagger while he sleeps! Thomas tasks her with avenging the death of their father, whom Laird Mackenzie🐺🍆⛲🔪 supposedly killed in battle. She has no idea how she is supposed to accomplish her task. Seamus Mackenzie🐺🍆⛲🔪, the Laird, is also unenthusiastic about the marriage👰. His first wife died and he doesn't think there is room in his heart💔 for another.
This is a very emotional story of sudden death in Sarina's family and the death of Seamus ' first wife and baby. Both people are broken hearted, and Sarina💃💔 is far from her family and alone in her new 🌎world of the highlands and her husband's clan. She feels like a pawn, she feels used. Adults only! Great book!
This is a very action packed book. Her three brothers are all loving but send their sister as a bride to the Laird of the closest Highland clan that killed their father in a battle. They also have a problem with bandits who pick on travelers along the roads from England to Scotland. She is sent to kill her groom by her eldest brother. Can she do it? Or will she be the peace maker her other brothers thought she was supposed to be? I couldn't put this book down. The love that develops between these two is so sweet that I find He reminds me of how when a woman has been hurt ,a man can be tender and help her to find a way to trust him by listening to her fears and just holding her when she needs it. This story is so well written I loved it.

Part of the A Scottish Medieval Historical Romance series this book kept me turning pages it is well written and I was not putting it down until I had finished it. Sarina Bashir and Laird Seamus Mackenzie are married to keep peace between the Scots and English. Her brother Thomas wants her to kill Seamus as he believes Seamus killed their father. But the more Sarina gets to know Seamus the more she falls in love with and trusts him. Thomas though is not satisfied and even his sister's life means nothing to him as he carries out his new plan. Read this book to find out what happens. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Prejudices exposed never have the same impact. English Lady Sarina is forced into a marriage with a Highlander who she is lead to believe killed her father. Her brother, Thomas, has negotiated a peace agreement using her as the piece to unite the warring factions. Her brother who is not to be trusted and Sarina finds that what she expected to find, an uncivilized, uncouth group of Scots, is not so as they welcome her into their midst and into their family. This leaves her with mixed feelings as she is supposed to murder her new husband per instructions from her brother. Will she follow her heart or her brother’s dictate? Therein lies the conundrum and the meat of the story.
I loved the plot lines in this story. I eagerly await all of Alisa's books and so far none have disappointed. Not too heavy on description after description of emotions and feelings but a great paced follow the action novel. I must admit I am not an admirer of books that get to a word count simply by writing the same emotions over and over again in every way you can think of, give me plots anytime. Keep it up Alisa.
She was to married to a Highland Laird to bring peace between them and her family only her brother wanted her to kill her new husband on their wedding night. He didn't want to actually get married again after losing his first wife but he had to do what was best for his clan even if it means getting married again! Can they find a future or will the past haunt them both?
The Author made the Hero a Whinny Pitiful Man. I was extremely Disappointed reading this Book. I truly thought this was going to be a Spectacular Story. To read so much Narrative & how this Gorgeous Man seem like a Man desperate to holding on to his past making him cry from the beginning. The dual with her brother was extremely Long & Ridiculous! I had to bypass so many chapters to get to the ending to be wholeheartedly dissatisfied with the ending. This Book is not worthy of purchase!
Really enjoyed this story. Sarina and Seamus have lots of issues to overcome if they're going to have a happy life. Besides the obvious issues of them being from England and Scotland, quite a few people don't want them to be married. Who is the villain? Definitely recommend.
I received an arc of this book. My opinions are my own.
There was a lot that happened in the pages of this novel. There was a love between Laird Seamus and an English lass. The book is excellent. It will make you mad, cry, sad, be elated and ecstatic all in one book. It's really well written. I would say this is one of the better books I've read. I hope you all read this excellent work.
What a feel-good story. It was full of charged emotions and feelings. There is an arranged political marriage between an English lady and a Scottish Laird. It was to broker peace. There was fear of the unknown, prejudice against the highlanders, bandits, betrayal, kidnapping and death-defying situations. This is an exciting action adventure romance. I do recommend it.
Characters are complex Most have a rich background Lots of twists Just enough heat The villain gets slayed, although the final fight is not completely told For once, the epilogue is worth it
The irritating:
Typos Mixed informations (eye color that change) An important scene is not completely explained
A true Highlander adventure. Serena never realized her inner strengths until out from under the influence of her older brother Thomas. His need for revenge shadowed everything. He willing sacrificed others for his gain. Seamus fell in love with her almost at first sight. From him, she gained strength. Good read.
Good storyline, characters were strong, exciting and romantic. Nothing like a great highlander who learns to love again all with the help of family. Seamus and Sarina were perfect and lovable together.
I loved this story it was hard for me to put this book down I am looking forward to Angus story I can't wait to see what happens between the 2. Thanks Alisa for a great read!!!
Alisa Adams is excellent, her story kept me riveted to the pages. I really enjoyed her knack for descriptions in a love scene fantastic without being too graphic. I really loved her characters and felt such a bond to them, it was hard to say goodbye and close the book at the end.
I loved loved this book, could not put it down. The characters came to life and all their troubles, betrayals twists and turns were rewarded with an everlasting love.
A thrilling highlander adventure! I did hate how wicked the brother was but most of the characters were likeable! Lots of twists in this one! Keeps you reading!
I enjoyed the trials and tribulations shared between Sabina and Seamus. Opposites do attract. An enjoyable tale of newly discovered love sprinkled with danger.
Really good. The Highlander marries the English lass for political reasons. Emotional rollercoaster. There are times I had to wipe away tears from my eyes. From the beginning twists turns and unexpected surprises. Will keep you reading.
