Walker and Mango Bob are at it again. Traveling across Florida in a motorhome, enjoying a laidback lifestyle while trying to stay out of trouble. But trouble never seems to be far. Especially when it involves women. In Mango Crush, Walker gets an early morning call from the mysterious but lovely Abby - aka the Goat Girl - asking him to drive across the state to pick her up in St Augustine. She says they'll be on the road for a week, so he better bring some wine because she's no fun when she's sober. No way he can turn her down, so he loads up his motorhome and heads out. But this is Florida and things rarely go as planned. Soon Walker finds himself in a different kind of hunt. One that will change his life forever. Ride along as Walker and his cat, Mango Bob, travel across Florida in their motorhome, trying to avoid trouble that seems to show up around every curve. A fun read.
This adventure is quite different, but still has you wondering a lot!
I was thrilled to find Mango Crush after reading all of the Mango Bob series. Abby, whom we met in Mango Digger calls Walker with an urgent need to get to St. Augustine. Walker immediately responds, especially since Abby may become the love interest that has captured his heart. Just don't make her mad! This adventure takes an abrupt halt when a speeding car slams into Walker cutting his beloved motor home in half. Walker barely survives, which so many remind him after he crash video goes viral. Walker is in a coma but awakens to find Abby who now become the heroine nursing him and finding a temporary home. Walker without his RV is homeless and worse without Bob. Did he did it is he hoped up somewhere? Abby helps Walker optimistic hunt for Bob as well as the mystery car that turned their lives topsy turvey. This book gives us more of an insight into John Walker as he has to be aided. There are so many twists and turns as usual. Is Mango Bob alive, will Walker find the elusive driver and be reimbursed for a new RV? What about the once urgent St. Augustine sojourn? Will Abby become the one? I have a feeling that mysterious trip will be the subject in book eight
This is a very interesting series and I plan to read the entire series. This is the third one I have read. Not idea what order they are supposed to be in. but it doesn't matter. Each book is a new adventure. In this one, Abby needs Walker and his RV, and Mango Bob, of course, for a trip she has to make. On the way there, the RV gets totaled by a flying Corvette. Mango Bob ends up missing and Walker ends up with a concussion and 10 days in the hospital. We are never quite sure if Bob is dead or alive, but there wouldn't be a Mango Bob series without him. So where's Bob? Thr author gives us a clue as to where he might be fairly early on and I kept waiting for Walker to come to the same conclusion and check there. Also, there was a matter of settling up about the RV because the driver of the Vette flew the scene. I thought I beat Walker to the punch in figuring that out, but in retrospect, we probably came to the conclusion at the same time. This is part of what makes a fun series.
I enjoyed Mango Crush in the fact that it was a bit of a mystery with the wreck and who had caused it but I was disappointed in some of the storyline. Walker owns a houseboat still, yes? And his Jeep? It wasn't plausible for me that he wouldn't include any of that in this story. He mentioned his texts and missed calls but other than that never really worries about going back to Mango Bay to let his friends know he wasn't dead. They too probably knew of the video and recognized it as Walker's, they were probably upset and he didn't seem to care. The car insurance thing was strange as well as the hospital bills. They were a part of the story 90% through the story then never mentioned again. Why even talk about it in the first place. It was a set up, imo, making it seem like Walker was gonna get big money to cover all that happened. Anyway, I still loved the story, despite some of the storyline flaws. I was SO happy with the end. I love me my Mango Bob.
Walker is planning on doing something with Abby, we never find out exactly what. She tells him to buy two burner phones and come get her. She also sends him a fake driver's license. After buying the phones he is in a terrible accident which totals his motor home and puts him in the hospital for over a week. He was identified by the fake ID so the hospital has a different name for him which makes him putting in an insurance claim problematic. Added to the loss of everything he owned and his home, Mango Bob is gone. Walker doesn't know if he survived the crash or just ran away.
There are the typical twists and turns in this book, but as always it was a delight! Looking forward to reading Mango Motel!
Mango Bob books are always a good read. Fun from start to finish. Mango Crush is as good as all the previous ones except I missed Buck, Polly and all the previous characters. I would like to see story line from the beginning to be consistent. Still looking forward to Future adventures of Walker and Mango Bob!!!
Mango Bob books are always a good read. Fun from start to finish. Mango Crush is as good as all the previous ones except I missed Buck, Polly and the other previous characters (ladies). I would like to see the story line from the beginning to be consistent. Looking forward to future adventures of Walker, Mango Bob and all the past and future characters!!!!
Not his best. I'm a Mango Bob fan but to be honest this one needed a lot more editing. First, there are way too many descriptions of the same event or scene. This book could have been 100 pages shorter with proper editing. Second, the ending just didnt work. I expect a detective\mystery novel to have clues and suspense. Both were lacking. Lastly, I'm starting to lose respect for Walker the main character. He started off as a 30 something tech guy with a laid back vibe. Now he seems to have grown into 60 somethi ng old fogie with not much spine with relationships.
I tell you this was not an exciting book. It was rather predictable and plainly written. I got the feeling the target audience was younger with its juvenile way of writing. The main character gets in a horrific car accident while on the way to meet a friend, is in a coma and is trying to find his lost cat. The friend he was going to meet instantly shows up at the hospital. You never find out why she called him to come meet her for starters. They both seem to have an endless supply of money. The book just had no substance for me.
Bill H.Myers has successfully written a story that keeps giving us more insight into Walker and MB and the Florida lifestyle they lead. The characters are believable and interesting and we get a chance to see Walker's softer side in this book. I would recommended this series of books for anyone one who has ever been owned by a cat, lived in a motor home, been to Florida or just needs a feel good, break from daily stress. Start with book 1 and you will be hooked, find yourself reading them all and looking forward to more!
I have been hooked since the first Mango Bob book, the story pulls you in and you can't wait to see what's next. The only problem is that I can burn through the book in two of three days and then I have to impatiently wait for the next book to come out. Thank you, so much fun to read.
Mango Bob! Even when his part of the story is small, he's still the hero.
This is the first review for this series that I have posted. Having read each story I will say that each one is better than the one before. I look forward to the next thrilling adventure with my hero, "Mango Bob!"
Like prior stories this one felt good and was a quick read for me hope to see more stories with mango bin and now buddy with Abby falling in the story line I guess next one will be in st Augustine and the Flagler area see you soon mango bob......I hope the next one is out soon enough
I enjoy these books and have read them all. This one was much like the others. Except different in that nothing really ever happens that is not easily predictable. There are no surprises and very little drama to be found. Still, I enjoyed it and hopefully the next one will fire on all cylinders.
The characters are interesting and seem real. I kept thinking about the direction the book seemed to head and liked how I was wrong but the plot moved along. I have read each book in the series and with the ending, it seems that another book is coming. Hopefully soon.
Picked up this series almost by accident, but quickly realized what a wonderful read they are, especially if you are even remotely interested in the RV lifestyle. Not very sophisticated, but I loved every one and will be watching for the next mango Bob story to come out!
This is a fabulous series. I love the traveling Walker does to deal places in Florida. My husband r and I both read this series and get the Atlas about every book and trace his journeys. The books. make you want to sell it all, get an RV, throw our cat in and travel the country. Can't wait to see what happens next.
Mango Bob is one of the best series I have ever read.
Mango Crush is well written, humorous, exciting, and truly a page-turner. The characters are lifelike and feel like old friends after reading all of the series. I cannot wait to start the next installment of Walker, Abby and Mango Bob. Florida here we come.
Having read all of these books by to back,I've noticed several continuity issues in the story. The story changes about how much the motorhome weighs, how Walker met characters and his back stories. The story of Sarah changes constantly. These are light reads but not LOL funny.
I love this series. Being a native Floridian, it's nice to know the places that the author is writing about. I just wish that Mango Bob had a more prominent role. I'm a cat lover, and I was very upset that I had to wait until the end of the book to find out that Bob was okay.
The adventure gets an abrupt redirection when Walker leaves to meet up with Abby and ends up in a hospital instead. An unbelievable accident that he survives but looses everything, including Mango Bob! An interesting mystery, search for Bob, and more makes this book especially exciting!! Can't wait to see what could possibly happen next!!
All the MB books are interesting enough to keep your interest.. the author makes the journey fun! But, his writing from a female pov seriously needs work. All his female characters are too much.. too much bossiness, too much not nice!! They take advantage of him and he seems clueless to stop thier plans. Not just this book but all of them! But, fun reads. Good escapisms.
Loved the book. This was a really good "feel good" story. Like Walker and G G and especially Mango Bob. Have read three of their adventures so far and enjoyed every one.
This was worthy of all time page turner till finished. Filled with concern and empathy for all and questions left unanswered into last pages! I will recommend to teenagers thru octogenarians
Is very intense, start to finish. Accident victims, first responders, beach living, reality shows and the state of animal shelters. An edge of your seat must read!
So well written that I wanted to drive from our place in Bonita Springs to Venice to help look for Bob. The ending was a total surprise. I'm looking forward to the next adventure with Mango Bob and Walker.
Fun read, with twists and turns. I recommend these books to my Dad and he loved them too. If you have ever stayed in Florida, you will recognize the places in the book. That's w bff at makes it fun!
The only problem is there aren't more. I think the ongoing saga of Walker and Bob could be continued and enjoyed in several more books. I would definitely buy them.
The story moved right along like all the books in this series. I didn't want to put any of them down. Highly entertaining and a great cast of characters. I hope to read another adventure soon.
Really love the Mango Bob series. Easy quick read with really colorful characters and interesting situations that hold your attention from beginning to end. Moving on to book nine of eleven and can't wait to see what happens next.
I have read all of the Mango Bob adventures and love every one. Walker and Mango Bob are wonderful characters and every story is better than the last! A great vacation read!
