Gwalchmai is the son of the warrior King of the Orkneys and the cold, beautiful, witch-like Queen Morgawse. Forced to flee from her dark spells, he journeys to Britian where, with the aid of the sword of light and a horse whcih runs like the wind and never tires, he joins King Arhtur's battle to rid Britain of dark forces. Though defeated for a time - a time of peace and strength in Arthur's Britian - the forces muster again. Their weapon is the tragic love of Gwynhwyfar for Bedwyr, a passion which is to set the stage for the final battle. Complete for the first time in one volume, Gillian Bradshaw's brilliant trilogy recrerates the mystery of Arthur's Britain with breathtaking skill.Contains the full textsHawk of MayIn winters shadowKingdom of Summer

This is a compilation of the Arthurian trilogy, Hawk of May, Kingdom of Summer and In Winter's Shadow. Together they make a fantastic book but I feel the title is a bit cheeky as people could buy it not realising that they already own the books.

Trotzdem volle Punktanzahl!

An omnibus of a trilogy of Arthurian novels, Hawk of May, Kingdom of Summer, and In Winter's Shadow.

The title of the first volume (which is favorite of mine) is a translation of the Welsh name Gwalchmei, which was used for Gawain (Gauvain) in translations of French romances.

The author accepts it the name of Arthur's nephew, as part of the whole Arthurian tradition. If he was part of the older Welsh tradition, as seems probable, but not certain, the original name may become unrecognizable after passing through Latin into Old French.

A great book to travel back in time to medieval times.
A historical fantasy in which you can meet an interesting self made character "Gwalchmai".
A character who challenges the darkness and sorcery of his parents to serve the light and good-will.
A great book

The first book is exceedingly good and always worth a read. The second is good and expands on the setting but not I feel on the characters. The last book I could not finish, I heavily dislike the 3rd books plot and tension and it saddens me.
