Keima and friends are about to rewarded in the Imperial Capital for their victory over the flame dragon in the previous volume. Wataru the Hero and Emmymephy the first princess (and heir apparent) are send over to guide them on the trip to the capital. The trip of course is mostly relaxing, but not completely problem free.
At times this slice-of-life isekai fantasy story is funny with interesting if quirky (and simple) characters in an equally quirky world. It is the kind of light-hearted story I enjoy reading in between more serious tales. As in previous volumes it is heavy on the tropes, which is fine when the author is making fun of them. Other tropes work less well or are getting overused a bit much. Still, if you came this far along in the series you know exactly what to expect and the volume delivers. All in all, an entertain quick read.
If one can get beyond the gender-changer comedy relief, the extremely lazy and "smart-*ss" main character Keima, well, this light novel series explains Dungeonology a little better than most, and in this book 10, they are in a "road trip" to reach the Empire's Capital with the "real" princess EmmyMephy. Half of the pages are side stories that are filler, more than push the story forward. At least they visit the Dwarf town and advance a little bit in this Book 10. The thing is, if only 25% is advancement, this light novel series will take forever to complete...and the side stories are not entertaining, funny or good... Hopefully, the speed of the light novel series, story will pick up soon...There have been no Dungeon Battles, or improvements, management, strategies of the Cave of Greed Dungeon...
In this volume the group goes on a trip to capital. I know what your think he has already been to capital. However, this time he is going the scenic route I stead of just teleporting. This allows us to see more of the world.
