An introduction to Memorial Day for the youngest readers.

This fact-filled Rookie Read-About Holiday book introduces the youngest readers (Ages 3-6) to Memorial Day. Colorful photos and very simple nonfiction text encourage children to read on their own as they take an in-depth look at the history of Memorial Day and how it is observed today.

Memorial Day is an informational text discussing what is Memorial Day and who we honor on Memorial Day. I love this book because it is very important to teach students at young age why we celebrate this holiday. This book allows the students to have a deeper appreciation for soldiers. The book is appropriate and interesting for young children to read. The pictures are easy for the students to grasp and tell what the book will about without reading. Memorial Day also allows the students to think about the past soldiers and also the present soldiers that are fighting today.
