This was a book my 10-year old daughter and I read for her wax museum project at school. I liked this book a lot because it had good information and was written with an easy to read flow. It also had a lot of pictures and was designed in a way that kept my daughters interest. We both learned a lot about Milton Hershey.

Looking for titles to include in curriculum for chocolate, I bypassed this title at first in favor of another one. However there are so many parallel stories between Mr. Hershey and Willy Wonka from CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY I thought this one made more sense.

It is a biography of Hershey's failures and successes and his unfailing determination. I also like that it focuses on making a town for his employees and giving back to high risk low income children through his school he created. Again similar to Willy Wonka.

We read this in a 6th grade book club for English lab. Milton Hershey was a great book because it gave good details about Milton's life and how he worked. Charnan Simon could have added more details about the different kinds of candies he made. Even though we gave it four stars but it still was a good book. I would recommend this to any one who loves chocolate and likes history.
