I really like the explode the code series but the problem I have with these A B and C books is that the activities seem to be a little all over the place in terms of a child’s development. For example, there’s a page where the instructor gives clues about an object (that are very obvious, like “this thing is at the end of your arm”) and the child has to guess the object. This activity is extremely easy for a 5 year old. Another page has ‘which object is different?’ Out of 5 objects, again extremely easy for a 5 year old. But then there are pages and pages of writing the letters which is just not developmentally appropriate for such a young age (for most children). Of course some children would do great but overall, I feel like some pages are geared towards a 3-4 year old and others are 5-6, so it makes the book very difficult to use front to back. A 3 and a 6 year old are obviously at completely different stages of development.
