Is about that the story of basketball that they like the basketball and they now how to play basketball this book is for the people watch basketball o play basketball i would recommend this book if you like basketball because this book you going to learn a lot of basketball
This book was kinda interesting just because it was on an interesting topic to me but if you dont like basketball then dont read this book. The beginning started off by talking about Dr. Naismith the man who invented basketball and what he had thought of to make up this sport that is today one of the most popular in the U.S. Dr. Naismith invented basketball in the early 1900s and it was mainly played in germany. There was one team named the germany buffaloes who at one point were on a 111 game winning streak until they got beat after 6 seasons without losing. When basketball first became a sport the teams only scored about 25 points per game today most players score that in one game.
The main point of the book tried to talk about the golden age of basketball. The golden age of basketball was in the mid 1950s till like the 1980s it had alot of rivals and it was what propelled the sport to its popularity today. The main rivalry was between Wilt Chamberlin and Bill Rusell these two players are both in the HOF today and they had met in the playoffs so many times that it brought the best out of both of these players. The best team in this age of basketball was the boston celtice who won more then 10 championships in less then 15 years. Thier coach was the legendary Red Auerbach and they also had so many HOF on thier team at the team that is was hard for them not to loose. I think that if you want to learn more about basketball you should read this book it was pretty good.
The Story Of Basketball is a very informative book. It will show you several players in basketball history and how they presented the game. Some players are friends off the court like Larry Bird and Magic Johnson, but on the court you would never guess the two great players ever hang out. The book will teach you about how the game works, and clever things players do to gain advantages (not cheating!). Some, like Kevin Garnett and the Celtics, had very intense pre-game warm ups. Most great players have some kind of signature that their known for- example: Vince Carter's windmill dunk, Kareem- Abdul Jabbar's hook shot, Lebron James threw chalk into air, Chris Paul's between the legs layup, and even Jason Terry's "Jet" after a 3-pointer. Many legends have nicknames- example: Wilt Chamberlain was "The Big Dipper", Hakeem Olajuwon was "The Dream", and Dominique Wilkins was "The Human Highlight Film." Basketball is the most american sport in the world. It's the only main well-known sport that really originated in America for America. I don't recommend the book though, because if you really want to learn about a player, than just look it up. I knew nearly everything this book has to offer. If your interested in learning about basketball, just look it up.
Reason 3: This book goes over famous basketball players like Michael Jordon and Larry Bird so you can learn about players from the past. I would give this book a 4.5 star rating. I recommend this book because it has a lot of tips to help you in basketball. This book has lots of details on b-ball and famous players from the past like Larry Bird and his fingertip touch. The thing that made them so great is that they practiced all the time. This book also covers all the positions in basketball. The book may give some of the players away but, it goes over some of the best couches too. This book is an easy read, but you still need some knowledge of basketball to understand it. The book gives you a very descriptive passage and visualization of what’s going on in the game. This book gives you multiple seasons of the NBA and Olympic Dream Team. It has a good gist of why basketball is so popular. This is why I recommend this book and give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.
The Story of Basketball OMG, that might be the best player in the NBA. It all started in 1937 a man named Dr. James Naismith wrote about a game he wanted to invent called basketball. Dr. James was a really smart man. He had to be if he wanted to invent a game or sport. He wrote all the rules and things he wanted basketball to be about. Then he tried it out by having the first game in a gymnasium that was very old. He had grown men learn and read the rules then had a game. There was peach baskets hug up on a 2nd floor railing 10 ft. up in the air. After a while there was teams made and this sport was published. They had teams with records of 792-86 over two decades. This book also, shows really good players and even the best player I think… I recommend this book to people who like basketball history.
