The God Dare. Where will you hear it? . . . Deep down inside, you know you’re on this planet for a reason. God has a plan in mind just for you. In fact, He chose you for His plan before the foundation of the world. He designed you very specifically for this time and this place, and He’s perfectly equipped you to accomplish His purpose in the earth. Through engaging and memorable true stories—both biblical and modern—author Kate Battistelli challenges and encourages you to discover how God has specifically designed you for this time in history, your place in the world, your role in His cosmic plan. Once and for all, let go of your fear, worry, pride and strife. . . All God ever needs is a willing vessel. Will you say yes?

There is something special about this book! Power-packed with rich biblical accounts, Kate’s compelling story, and an invitation you can’t afford to miss—The God Dare is for everyone who is ready to leave behind complacent living and respond to God’s call to a courageous, faith-filled life. It will be worth it!
Kate Battistelli has reached into the bible, her past and real life to produce ''The God Dare.''
This book is forwarded by her daughter, Francesca Battistelli, who is also mentioned several times in the book. (At various ages in life.)
The approach to this book is something I had never considered before. ''God Dare'' has inspired me to start a small group at my church to explore the topic of just what exactly a ''God Dare'' is.
Scripturally backing her concept of ''God Dares'', Kate gives both examples from her life and the Bible. Using well recognised biblical heroes as; Moses, Ruth, Esther, Abraham and even Mary she explains things I never realised before picking up this book!
''God Dare'' is a must for Christians of all ages and in all walks of faith. Everyone can benefit from the wisdom inside the pages.
And if you're not a Christian, but you're interested in learning more...or even searching for something, this is the book you need to read.
Thank you NetGalley for this book!
Also, where can my church preorder this book for the small group? We need about 30 copies!
I was aware of Kate Battistelli through a writing group that we are both in called Hope Writers. I also knew that her daughter is the Christian singer Francesca Battistelli. So when I saw this book was available on NetGalley to preview I was eager to read it. Once I began the book I was even more intrigued because Kate and her husband are also trained musicians and she was a successful Broadway performer early in her life. I am also a trained singer, soloist and theater actress, but at the local amateur level, so her insights into that aspect of her life were especially interesting for me.
The God Dare is about helping the reader understand and believe that God designed each person for a purpose at this time and in this place. Since my life verse is Romans 8:28, and I totally accept the sovereignty of God, her premise was very reasonable. Each chapter includes aspects of Kate's life and a reflection about various Biblical persons and how they confronted their "God dares". Each chapter also has summaries of the topics in the chapter called Spiritual Secrets and several discussion questions.
This book would be a good read for a small group Bible study. I received an advanced copy from the publisher on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I so appreciate the authors authenticity and practical approach to story telling. I am challenged every time I sit down and read to remember that “God sees us according to our destiny, not our history.” I have learned in all circumstances to trust that God will being good out of all things, even the hard stuff, and this book is giving me biblical backup for that truth. And I am so grateful!
In The God Dare, Kate authentically shares not only the most transparent parts of her own story, she does so in a way that points to God's amazing power and work in her life. She uses stories throughout scripture to show how God has called His people to walk in ways that may seem scary, but every time He has equipped them for the calling He has for them. Kate invites us to look at where God might be asking us to step out in faith, examine our fears and trust in a God that is bigger than all of them. The God Dare will challenge you and encourage you. I received an advanced copy of the book as a member of the launch team.
This book would make a great bible study. When God calls you to do something, sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone. I really enjoyed this book. Thank you Barbour Publishing via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. This is my honest opinion.
In The God Dare by Kate Battistelli, the author gets very real about faith; rubber meets the road real. Do you have it or don’t you? Is it real or is it just for show? How much are you willing to do to prove your faith?
Battistelli states that we are each here on purpose and for a purpose, though we might not yet know what that purpose is. She believes that God will present each of us with specifically chosen opportunities to be used by Him. Throughout the book, she shows through personal and Biblical stories, multiple examples when people through the ages were presented with a choice by God, and the outcome of those choices when they chose to put their lives, and all their faith and trust in God and His promises and answered the call.
God offers each person opportunities to be chosen. It is up to the individual how to respond. God can use anyone’s life for His purpose, no matter who they are, or what their past has been. Knowing that God will equip you with what you need to accomplish His call, that He knows and loves you like no other, that His vision and plan for you far outreaches anything you could hope for yourself; yet also knowing that you may never understand what you are being called to do, that it may not match your own plans, that it may involve all facing unknown dangers, untold risks, and even death, do you have the faith to answer the call, to trust in the Lord and say “Yes, Lord, send me. Use me”? Do you have the courage to step into the unknown on faith? WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
This book offers wisdom, encouragement, and much to think about. Easily readable and very “meaty” at the same time, it would make an excellent Bible study. Five stars from me for the author’s way of getting her message across, bringing it to life, and bringing readers a deeper understanding of God.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Shiloh Run Press for allowing me to read an ARC of this book in exchange for an unbiased review. All opinions are my own. The book is scheduled for publication 6/1/19.
"The God Dare" is a fabulous read! Kate Battistelli has written an encouraging, challenging book that many could benefit from diving into. In her second book, Battistelli shares her own personal stories of challenge or triumph in a way that both seems like a memoir of her life and a reminder of God's faithfulness. I had to spread out my reading over a couple of evenings, and I enjoyed the quiet moments to catch up.
Battistelli is the mother of Christian singer Francesca, whose story she shares a bit of in "The God Dare," but Kate has plenty of stories of her own interesting life, from performing on Broadway with Yul Brenner and other famous actors to her personal struggle with infertility and depression. Kate is all at once the supportive voice you need and the honest motherly figure who pushes you out of your comfort zone, all while cheering you on.
So many in this world settle for less than what God wants for them. Sometimes being bold and brave enough to take the "God Dares" that are placed before us make the difference between settling and soaring. Battistelli uses stories of people in Scripture who decided against accepting what was offered by the world to be challenged to reach for the better things God had for them. Each chapter end reminds the reader of pertinent Sciptures, points to remember from that portion and helpful questions for self reflection. This can be deep work, so be prepared to finish the book different from when you began.
"The God Dare" will speak to people of all ages who are through with doing the bare minimum in their walk of faith. If you're ready to jump in with both feet and do some things the world says is crazy, "The God Dare" is the book for you. This would be perfect for a small group study, women's study, college age small group or to do on your own with a journal and your Bible handy. I was thankful to be a part of the early reader group, thanks to Shiloh Press and Barbour Publishing. All opinions are my own.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the publisher. Kate Battistelli’s authentic writing is heartwarming. Not only did I not want to put the book down, I also didn’t want it to end. I felt like I was listening to a treasured friend encouraging me, challenging me, convicting me and daring me to be all God created me to be. A MUST read for everyone.
The title of this book captivated me instantly. The first hour of reading I must have said “whoa”, “nice”, and “YES” 100 times while writing down half of the book in my notes!
Kate’s obedience, vulnerability, teaching, stories, and wisdom serve as a catalyst to challenge yet encourage, convict yet fill with hope, cause you to question while directing you to ask the right questions.
If every reader applies the God Dare concept to their lives, realizing their full potential in Christ who loves them ... complacent Christians will be a thing of history!
I am so grateful to have been given the chance to read an advanced copy.
I urge you, pull out your dusty dreams, pick up your forgotten visions, grab hold of your passions, preorder this book, and get ready to run the race set before you.
This book was so appropriate for the season I’m in right now. Kate’s honesty and vulnerability in telling her story was a breath of fresh air. I highly recommend.
I received an advance reader copy from the publisher, and this is my honest review. The God Dare is a wonderfully inspirational book by second-time author, Kate Battistelli. The book alternates between stories from the Bible and the author's own experiences related to running hard after God's call on her life. Her writing is genuine and generous; she shares about her deepest regrets and how God eventually used some of her past choices, even the poor ones, for His glory. By virtue of sharing openly in this book, she models for us how to answer a God dare even when we are afraid to do so or are not sure how our actions or words will be received by others. She challenges the reader to consider where God is calling him or her to more and addresses the fear and hesitancy that we all feel in those situations. She urges the reader to move into that space with humility and to fully trust that God knows what He is doing. I highly recommend The God Dare as your next great read!
This was one amazing book. Kate Battistelli did a remarkable job with it.This book would make a wonderful Bible study for a small group, because after the end of each chapter there are questions to ponder on Listening about her life story and how she met her husband Broadway then their beautiful daughter ( who is a christian singer). I would highly recommend this book to anyone who just needs a little more touch of God words.
I received an Advance Readers Copy from the Publisher for my honest review.
I love everything about this book! I love the simplicity and the depth, the passion and the peace. I am challenged and encouraged. I hope that everyone picks up this book because I believe they will be touched by it as I have been.
I've been wrestling with the best way to describe Kate Battistelli's book. It's made a huge difference in my view of live as a believer.
I work in a little shop in our local mall. One of our crafters makes designer cups, and she's been making color changing ones. We have a special light we can shine on the cup to show our customers the unique design.
The cups are gorgeous and one of a kind, but when the light shines it becomes something even more spectacular.
That's what The God Date does. Battistelli takes familiar passages of Scripture and shines a unique light on the verses, giving the Reader a spectacular view of how God dates is to do the unthinkable, unusual, and impossible.
This is a transparent, open look into the author’s life and her relationship with God. It is written eloquently and gracefully flows from the pages of her book into readers’ hearts. The stories are so personal and interesting that I felt like I was chatting with a new friend.
In her book, the author discusses how God has plans for each one of us. He also offers assistance to equip us to accomplish our task. Like the saying goes, God doesn’t call the qualified but qualifies the called.
She is open and honest with her journey. There are many personal and family stories of listening to God and following Him. Biblical stories are used, also. All of these to help readers realize that we were all born for a purpose at this time. Our first duty is to find our purpose and the second is to do it. With God’s leading and helping us, anything is possible.
This is a thought provoking book that will have your wheels turning. Author Kate challenges readers to search and find our purpose. Then take the big step and begin working on it. This will take a lot of prayer, listening for God, trusting Him, and courage.
I love the line “God sees us according to our destiny, not our history.” God is presented lovingly, approachable, and caring by the author, which is how I perceive Him. The God Dare is such an encouraging, uplifting book. I loved it.
I highly recommend it to everyone. Seasoned Christians will benefit from the refreshing tone and delightful stories that turn hearts and minds to God and what His plans are for each of us. New Christians or Seekers will benefit, too. The true, honest writing and sweet words will help draw them in and answer some questions. They will be inspired and encouraged.
This would be a nice book for a church library. Yes, a study group would really enjoy it, too. I will be keeping this in my library but encouraging many people to buy and read it. It gets a 5 out of 5 star rating from me. A copy was provided by the publisher but I was under no obligation to write a review. These are my own, honest words.
This was a wonderful book, written in a way that felt like having a chat with a friend over coffee. It will convict you to remember the seeds of purpose God has planted in you - the one you might have dismissed as being too scary or hard, or that you didn’t feel qualified for - and then inspire you take a breath, pray, and take that “God Dare.”
I received an ARC from the publisher and this is my honest review.
This book is inspiring, it made me think, and rethink everything in my life. I cried, and laughed out loud, but most of all, I felt God's presence as I read this book. I felt him moving through the author's words and into my life in a way I never expected. The personal stories in conjunction with scripture spoke volumes. I will recommend this book to any and every person I can talk to about it.
I received an advance reader copy of the book from Barbour publishing and this is my honest review.
This would be an excellent bible study done in a group setting with discussion. I applaud Kate for what she has compiled here. This was God-centered and encouraging. Her openess and her vulnerability spoke his love and truth. (Part of the book launch team)
As an avid reader I would have to say this gook is phenomenal. It reminds you that you are not alone and reminds us of different GOD DARES. It is a HIGHLY suggested read.
I just finished an ARC of this book. I loved how the author take a different bible character each chapter and relates that to a God Dare. The best parts are the reminders and the questions to ponder at the end of each chapter. This is a phenomenal book for anyone who thinks that God could never use them, is bound by fear to step out in faith or just anyone needing a reminder of how much God loves you! Don’t miss this one!
“The impossible is GOD’s comfort zone!” ... For most of us, “impossibles” are the exact opposite. They challenge us. They stretch us. They cause us to fear and to doubt.
What is GOD calling me to do? Where is He leading me to the bottomless ocean of trust? What has He spoken to my heart?
I asked these questions and spoke the same words in prayer after listening to a podcast in which Kate Battistelli described the heart and message of her new book, “The GOD Dare.”
Two very clear things echoed back:
(1) “Look up! Bear witness to My majesty! Soak it in, breathe life eternal, glimpse glory.”
He knows I long to find just the right words. To string them together in a way that touches hearts, speaks truth, offers hope and courage. Many times it seems bigger than I can tackle. I get in my own way, tangled up in my own ambitions. I believe He delights in my passion, yet reaches out to steady Me with His pace, and His plan.
More than anything I will ever write, He invites me to LIVE this story, His story written on my heart. To go where He sends me. Love like He does. To let others see JESUS in me!
His Spirit is training my heart not to worry about what comes next. To let Him write the rest of this story. Every single day of it! To watch Him give my wings flight, soaring in the limitless of what He alone can offer me. To watch Him give me just the right words, at just the right time, and just the right place to share them.
(2) “The guidance you are seeking for your daughter’s college search, asking what will position her best for any future pursuits? There is no better earthly mentor for her than you.”
(LORD how? I don’t know what to tell her!?!)
His Word tells me that He will guide me, just as He will guide her. That there is no greater prep for her, to position herself for the path forward, than to find her knees more than any counselor or internet search. Those are only tools. The LORD is the Guide. The best and only true option. Always.
This is a very real and present weight on my heart. I can’t pass this one off. I need to stay in the game. The most important part is the final mile, the last quarter. He urges me that I am needed NOW more than ever! To hold her gaze. To encourage her heart. To lead her back to Him, however many times that is necessary!
So many times, that job seems over my head! But He keeps lifting my chin to keep my own eyes fixed on Him. . . .
“What hard thing has He asked me to do, to give up, to risk everything to answer His call?”
Reading Kate’s book, I continued to process these same questions. The LORD reminded me of other “impossibles” through which He has gently and kindly walked with me.
More than anything He has asked me to *do*, there have been things He has asked me to hand back to Him in surrender, trusting His bigger plan:
(1) a ministry opportunity that seemed to be falling into place that I was truly excited about stepping into, confident He had been preparing me for it, eager to see how He would work through me, if I was just brave enough to step forward ... until the door slammed shut and I asked Him to hold me until it all made sense again as hot tears of disappointment and confusion spilled down my cheeks.
(2) when I realized I was battling crazy homesickness and had to confess I had grown weary of His call for us to leave PA and move south 12 years ago … that I had prayed for a job change for my husband that might take us back to the northern hills, only to have that door slam shut as well... and in the end, that I needed to humble myself before Him and hand “home” back to Him, recommitting to wherever He leads us.
My heart broke both times, with fog and pain and questions that seemed impossible to sort out. BUT, there was utter freedom in surrender. A flood of peace that couldn’t be explained, and fresh joy in what was right in front of me. I can confidently say that the better choice both times was a wide open door to simply follow JESUS and hunger to know more of His heart!
. . .
Our “impossibles” challenge us. Stretch us. Cause us to fear and to doubt. Ask of us what seems more than we are able to give. Sometimes break our hearts.
But GOD.
He longs for us to bring our “impossibles” to Him, to ask Him how we can meet them with His help, His wisdom, His power. The LORD intentionally presents us with opportunities to face the impossible - not to crush us with defeat, but to draw our hearts to understand just how capable HE is and how He desires to do impossible things through us!
What are you facing that seems impossible? Something bigger and “crazier” than you ever pictured yourself tackling? Something desperately outside of your control? Or is it simply impossible to imagine the GOD of the universe speaking His plans directly to your heart? Or that He would ever declare value and eternal purpose over the countless moments in your life that seem unseen, small, or insignificant in your eyes? Or that His plans for you could stand undeterred by a part of your life you struggle to overcome?
Let Kate Battistelli take you by the hand and help you revisit accounts of men and women just like you. Their names may be familiar (David, Esther, or Joseph; Abraham, Hagar, or Jonah), but take a closer look at their stories, as they encounter the one true GOD, hear Him speak His plans and purposes to their hearts, and watch Him transform their “impossibles” into mind-boggling reality that draws their hearts to awestruck worship!
Kate concludes with the most precious appeal of all… the greatest invitation the LORD extends to each of us. To follow JESUS. To live like He does. Love like He does. Stand firm and unhurried and unwavering, confident in the Father’s plan! His purposes are always moving forward, undeterred, and right on schedule!
Left to our own devices, we are just not capable of such a goal. But GOD. JESUS gave everything to redeem us, to breathe new life into us, and to supply any and every need we have. His Spirit dwells within us, remaking us from the inside out. So our hearts can beat along side of His. So our character can reflect His. So our choices will align with His!
Read. Consider. And be encouraged! I, for one, am so grateful to be reminded that we can trust the LORD to meet us in our genuine desire to hear from Him. We can trust Him to reveal His heart to us. To equip and direct us as we step forward to fulfill His purposes for us. He longs to show us how His redeeming love and power can transform our “impossibles!”
“GOD still seeks those who will say YES, even when saying yes makes no sense, even when it’s hard, even when it’s costly.” - Kate Battistelli
'The God Dare' is an exceptional read. The author tenderly shares some deeply personal stories, showing what God did through those circumstances. His dreams for us are far bigger than what we dream for ourselves. I was challenged to accept the God Dares in my own life. Sometimes God asks a lot of us and it can be frightening. But He also promises to stay with us through it and protect us. Have you accepted the God Dares in your life? The Bible tells story after story of people accepting those dares from God, making huge moves that might not even make sense to them at the time, BUT they chose to trust God and He made it good. 'The God Dare' has challenged me to trust God in all things, small and big, and to step out in faith. The cover says, "Will you choose to believe the impossible?" This book has helped me to answer, "You bet I will!"
I received an advanced reader copy of The God Dare from the publisher and here is my honest review:
Are you wondering what God is daring you to do in your life? Author, Kate Battistelli, wrote this book in such a way that inspired me to allow God to equip me as He calls me to a purpose. A purpose that I never imagined would take place in my life! I loved how she referenced many characters in the Bible to illustrate how God used each one.
At the end of each chapter, you'll find Discussion Questions that also make this book a great study for a small group. I was really encouraged by the outpouring of her own life circumstances, where God dared her in a different direction than she ever imagined! 'If God calls you to it, He will equip you to do it.'
BONUS - Her daughter, Christian recording artist, Francesca Battistelli, wrote the foreword in the book to introduce you to her mother's 'God Dare' journey.
Excellent book which encourages the reader to think of ways to share God and His love with others. We are chosen by Him and He has a unique plan for each of us. This book is great for discussion groups or to ready by yourself. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.
Author Kate Battistelli’s book The God Dare double-dog dares you to a life changing adventure. I received an Advanced Review Copy and could not put it down. The authors very authentic stories coupled with scripture was soul stirring. The God Dare is the kind of book every reader can find a message that seems to have been written just for them. Don’t hesitate—go get this book and read it.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the publisher. The author shares with raw honesty and transparency about personal hardships, helping the reader to understand we don’t have to keep our deep dark secrets hidden in the shadows. There is power in sharing our imperfections. The book takes the reader through many people in the Bible and sheds light on the fact that many of their journeys were, in fact, God dares. This would make a great group to do a weekly Bible study or to read in a small group setting and discuss. It includes key points at the end of each chapter along with Bible scriptures that are on point.
Oh my gosh!!! Have you ever had a book that hits you right in the feels. I mean deep down. This book does just that. Kate Battistelli has a loyal fan for life.
I loved The God Dare by Kate Battistelli! Kate provides real life and Biblical examples of God Dare’s and how they bring about transformation and change in the world. She beautifully retells Bible stories that focus on particular Bible characters that accepted God’s Dares. She also shares several examples of Biblical characters that accepted the devil’s dare and some that accepted both. Even though I knew most of the Bible stories Kate shares, she retells them in such easy to understand and engaging ways I felt like I was reading them for the first time! I love that each chapter ends with Scriptures to Think About, God Dare Secrets, and discussion questions that can also be used in a group study. I also loved the 7 Spiritual Secrets and God Dare Enemies that Kate explains in detail.
Kate authentically bares her soul and shares her truths, and sheds light on her own sins of the past, which I found powerful! She expresses her hopes that everyone graciously accepts God’s dare’s, no matter how big or obscure they are, they all matter. I was deeply touched by Kate’s writing, her honesty, and her faithfulness in walking the path the Lord has laid out before her.
The God Dare tenderly inspired, encouraged, and motivated me. Kate writes with a no-nonsense, “I’ve been there” approach which I find engaging and refreshing. Her faithfulness, authenticity, wisdom, and passion were poured upon the pages of The God Dare and I love the sprinkles of light-hearted humor Kate shares.
I think these quotes by Kate Battistelli sum up The God Dare: “The God Dare answers the age-old question: Am I enough? When God dares you, He proves without a doubt…Yes. You. Are!” “The God Dare is the unexplainable effects of obedience.” “The whole point of the God Dare is to believe in the impossible, walk by faith and not by sight, and take God at His word in complete trust.”
I really enjoyed reading The God Dare. It awakened new possibilities for my life, God’s possibilities. I have been working on my first book for over 4 years and I have been stuck, too paralyzed by doubts and fears to complete it. (Which Kate shares as 2 of the enemies of God Dare’s.) Since reading Kate Battistelli’s wonderful book, my eyes have opened to new insights and perspectives and I feel compelled to finish the work the Lord has placed upon my soul. I accept God’s dare!
If you feel you or what you’re doing aren’t enough, I recommend reading The God Dare, to be reminded that you are enough, and you do matter! The God Dare is the type of book you can reread and glean more from it each time you read it. Have your highlighters and notepads ready!!
So good. Love this catchy title ‘The God Dare’. And the book does not disappoint. In this book, the author shares openly about some of the struggles she faced and the times God asked her to trust Him when it didn’t make sense. In fact, she defines a God Dare as a spiritual bungee jump where we risk everything by jumping and trusting the cord will hold. Then she draws correlation from her life story to characters in the Bible and then brings it all back to the reader for personal life application.
I love how the author drew out some life application from the Bible characters in a unique way. For example she talked about how there was something in how Naomi bore her suffering that created a God hunger in Ruth.
This book will be sure to speak to you in all seasons of life but most strongly if you are going through a season of waiting or testing. This book speaks volumes about walking with God through the hard times.
Each chapter wraps up with verses to ponder that go along with the chapters topic, followed by what she calls God Dare Secrets, and then some discussion questions to help with application to the readers life. Now these God Dare secrets are so of the best parts of the book. Many of these one line statements preach in and of themselves.
And quite honestly she saved the best part for last. Chapters 16&17 are the powerhouse chapters on the devils dare and the enemies of our God dare. In these chapters are 7 spiritual secrets, and tips for fighting fear. Prior to these chapters I planned to give this book a 4 star rating but these 2 chapters knocked it out of the park.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.
