It’s all complicated in love and war.Snaring Angus is book one of the long-awaited Captain’s Folly Series, a trilogy following three members of The Captain’s Folly, a pub band featured weekly at The Ship’s Inn Tavern in North Berwick, Scotland, and is a witty and sweet enemies-to-lovers romance. New reader?? Then dive into the lovely village of North Berwick and the men of the Captain’s Folly by reading the prequel novel, Seeking Solace.
Adrienne Dunning is simply a Southern gal who has fun playing poorly at golf when she’s not crafting novels. She loves all forms of expression—writing, dancing, cooking, talking—and does them frequently and with abandon. She lives in coastal North Carolina and uses that region as the setting for many of her stories.
Do you ever just want to pick up a book and have it be a sweet, easy read, without a ton of drama? Well, this is the book for you. Snaring Angus is the first book of Adrienne's that I've read, and it's a straight up contemporary romance that leaves your heart a little fuller and beating a bit faster.
Angus and Kerry have known each other all their lives, and have been frienemies just as long. They never seem to have a kind word for each other. Angus knows Kerry's going through a rough time, and when he does try to be nice, Kerry gets suspicious.
This is a straight up feel good story. I'm a huge sucker for Scottish romances, and this did not disappoint. Being that this is the first of the "Captain's Folly" Series, we are introduced to a bunch of characters that are all great, and I'm very excited to see who Adrienne brings us next.
I loved this novel. It brought me back to Scotland and the fun cast of characters from Seeking Solace. The contentious relationship between angus and Kerry was a fun ride. No one ever said love was easy.
This was my favorite kind of love story! Sure, we all like fairy tales when we're little, but the older I've gotten, the more value I find in a simple, realistic story. Like basically everyone I've ever known, the characters in this story have flaws. Their lives aren't easy and they aren't always sugar sweet. They miss the most obvious things and you want to smack them sometimes. And that's the beauty of it. I absolutely fell in love with all of the characters in this story, which is excellent considering the fact that it's part of a series.
The dynamic between Kerry and Angus kept me laughing throughout the book. Sure, I wanted to whack them both upside the head a time or two because no one can have arguments like that and try to claim the have no chemistry, but that's kind of the point, right? I loved every second of this sweet, simple romance and I'll definitely be picking up the other books in the series, as well. Just in time for summer, too! This light romance will be a great vacation read!
Angus Donaghue and Kerry Hunter have spent their whole lives throwing insults at each other. But when his band members hint that maybe he has a thing for her, it starts him thinking. Kerry is going through a very hard time in her life, she's working herself to the bone trying to take care of her very sick mother, and doesn't have the energy for Angus, especially when he really loses his mind and kisses her. Snaring Angus was a fast paced, short story that I enjoyed, especially since I have a thing for HOT Scotsmen. Although, I spent a bit wanting to really strangle Angus, I couldn't help but cheer for him to get his girl. This was my first Adrienne Dunning story, and her talented writing style shone through, but the length of it made a bit too rushed, as I wanted more, especially with a the emotional storyline involved. One of my favorite things though, was the well placed humor, as it kept me laughing. So with all of that being said, I cannot wait for more of this series!
I was so excited to get my hands on another book by Dunning. It has been far too long since I have been able to be transported by her vivid words and unique stories. I absolutely loved Angus and Kerry's banter and chemistry. Their constant battles with one another were incredibly entertaining. This book also had some incredible pain and emotion within its pages and my heart ached while reading those scenes. Dunning did a terrific job of writing a well-rounded story that held my attention from start to finish. I am already looking forward to the next book in this series. Fantastic!
My heart broke for her. I didn't like Angus at all. The way he went about things was great on the playground, but not once we are grown. This book was okay, but I felt like it could have been better. I had a hard time getting invested into any of the characters.
Every now and then you need a romance story....no bells and whistles just an honest story. I felt I got this reading Snaring Angus. Real to life people with real to life issues. We are introduced to the Captain's Folly in Seeking Solace. I was excited when I learned the others members of the band are getting their own stories! First up is Angus, the drummer. He and Kerry have known each other, or at least thought they did, their whole lives. They have a real love/hate relationship....they love to hate each other - it's their thing! Kerry is in a bad place - she is physically and emotionally exhausted. She is so used to being strong that it never occurs to her to reach out to those that want to be there for her. When someone points out to Angus that there is a fine line between love and hate it knocks him off his axis and makes him look more closely ....at Kerry. What happens when these two wonder what would happen if they crossed the line? I really enjoyed reading this story and can't wait for more.
This quick read definitely packs a punch! You'll find a sexy, infuriating Scottish and a strong heroine who can throw barbs just as well as he can. Witty banters, guys with accents, strong heroine, and interesting story - you've been warned!
I loved this book from Adrienne Dunning! Angus and Kerry have grown up together and as long as they can remember they have traded insults like no tomorrow. But what happens when both realize maybe the insults are hiding their true feelings? Kerry and Angus have some great one comebacks for each other, but my favorite is Kerry biting her thumb at Angus and it stops the insult battle in it's tracks. When they finally give voice to their deeper feelings both find that place that is home and when Kerry's life is thrown for a loop that is the thing she needs the most. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This might have been a quick read, but it has plenty going on. Kerry Hunter already has a lot on her plate and sparring with Angus Donaghue drummer for the local pub band where Kerry spends her nights working after her long day of cleaning hotel rooms is not something she relishes. But when a lifetime of battling back and forth turns into somthing more will they let their guard down long enough to see what has really been going on all these years?
This was a good read, if your looking for something quick and engaging.

So as a person who reads a ton of books that are dark, full of action and drama and everything else that gets your heart pounding, reading this book was such a breath of fresh air. This book was such a sweet read that did get my emotions running but it was one that put some cracks in your heart but it made it all better.
Although the characters in this book are at each others throats and have been all their lives, they are ones that you can't help but to fall in love with. There are things that neither of them realized before and one may not be ready to admit what truly lies in their lives.
This was my first book by Adrienne and I highly recommed this book and I can't wait for the next one in the series!!!
