Ruth Glick (born 1942) is a best-selling author of healthy cookbooks and has also written dozens of romantic suspense romance novels under the pen name Rebecca York.
Ruth earned a B.A. in American Thought and Civilization from George Washington University and an M.A. in American Studies from the University of Maryland. Although she always wanted to become a writer, Glick was convinced that her lack of spelling skills meant that her goal was unattainable. As a stay-at-home mother, she took a community college course to help her choose a career. The course made it very clear that writing was her primary interest. Glick began writing articles for newspapers and magazines, but after several years decided to try writing fiction. Her first book, a kids' science fiction book, was finally purchased by Scholastic Inc..
Since then, Glick has become a highly successful author of over 50 romantic suspense and paranormal novels. Many of her novels are published under the Harlequin Intrigue line, and in June 2003, she became one of the first authors published under Berkley's new Sensation imprint. Before 1997, she often collaborated with Eileen Buckholtz and Kathryn Jenson.
Glick also is a highly regarded author of cookbooks focusing on healthy eating. She sometimes hires trained chefs to test the recipes that she creates, and makes sure that every recipe is tested at least three times before it appears in one of her cookbooks.
Glick is the head of the Columbia Writers Workshop. She and her husband, Norman Glick, live in Columbia, Maryland, where Ruth collects rocks, and enjoys cooking, walking, reading, gardening, travel, and Mozart operas. They have two grown children, Elissa and Ethan, and two grandsons (Jesse and Leo).
Ummm, er...what to say? I've been reading Rebecca York's 'Moon' series since 2003 and generally enjoy the book ALOT. "Eternal Moon", however, just rubbed me wrong and it's difficult to pinpoint exactly why. Maybe because I felt this book tripped over the paranormal line into the realm of 'I don't think so'.
Renata is independently wealthy but works to make a difference in the world because she's given up on love. Everyone in her life who has been dear to her has died horribly and she's decided that whatever curse she is living under needs to stop. Thus, it's been several years since she's gotten close to anyone...especially a man. Working as an undercover PI, trying to ID the person killing real estate agents, she's surprised when she's saved from a pack of feral dogs by a wolf. Minutes later, acquaintance businessman Jacob appears as if my magic and they feel an irresistible attraction to each other. But what Renata doesn't know is that she's not living under a curse...she's being stalked by a demon and that demon's job is to make sure she doesn't connect with her true love.
Jacob has secrets of his own tho. He's not just a man, he's a Marshall werewolf. And once he gets close enough to scent Renata, he knows she is his mate. A mate he doesn't want to have, but still his mate and his to protect. And when these two come together, they discover a past--and a future--neither could have dreamed of.
The sex is hot, but the connection was only lukewarm for me. Being the reincarnation of a goddess just was a little too much for me...and what kind of goddess kills her man, anyway? Bottom line is that I didn't grow to care for either of the main characters...actually liked the dog Jacob saved more than him or Renata. I haven't given up on the series though. I'll just count this one as an 'off' book and hope the next one rings my chimes.
Slow start with some issues had me wondering if I should start another book (stuff like someone being ahead of another at end of chapter then being behind the other person at start of next chapter didn't make sense, real estate license vs PI license not clear-I have had a RE license and there were thing that didn't add up at the beginning of the book). but it ended up picking up with the alternate universe and I did finish reading and getting to the end.
DNF. Partly my own fault. I've read and liked some of her other stuff but this turned out to be part of a sprawling series with lots of backstory and a ton of male werewolves who found their destined mates earlier in the series. In order to keep the series going the author had obviously had to resort to ridiculous measures including have some of the females turn out to be things like 1) a goddess, 2) from another primitive werewolf peopled dimension, and 3) able to bring her boyfriend back from the dead. Too out-there for me.
Going undercover as a real estate agent in hopes of luring a serial killer into her trap, the heroine finds herself almost attacked by a pack of rabid dogs one day only to be saved by a wolf. From that day on, she sees the wolf multiple times both in her dreams and in reality. Also, she's caught the attention of the hero who is instantly drawn to the beautiful Latin woman, convinced that she is in life mate. In hopes of protecting her, he in fact begins to stalk her-something I found terrify creepy. But regardless, he vows to be close to her, to learn her secrets and be there to protect her from harm. She in response is just as attached to him, checking up on him online and breaking into his house to search for clues as to who he truly is. It's there she discovers incriminating evidence pointing him out as the killer she's been looking for. In fact, the evidence was planted to frame him but she instantly calls the cops.
He kidnaps her and brings her over to the alternated world in a bid to give himself time to convince her he's innocent. He succeeds quite quickly as he sacrifices himself when they are attacked by barbarians and lays dying in the sobbing herself arms. It's then she realizes she loves him and it's also the time where she realizes she was a goddess in a previous life. She calls up her regressed powers to save him. It soon comes to like that they have lived many many lives seeking love in each other’s arms only to have a demon sabotage their love over and over again. This explains why all her previous boyfriends end up dead. It also explains why she's been having strange dreams and sleepwalking only to find bizarre ritual markings in the garden. This also explains the intense maddening passion she and the hero feel for each other. Together they vow that this time they will succeed, that the demon will be destroyed and they can finally find their ever after.
This book wasn't horrible, I'll start with that point. It's wasn't bad but that didn't mean it was any good either. It felt like a hell of a lot of material was jam packed into a relatively short story. It was a pin ball bouncing from one thing to another and my head was spinning by the end. As such, I didn't entirely believe the romance between the characters as it felt rushed and rather forced. This was the second attempt I had made to read this book, the first attempt unsuccessful as I gave up before 50 pages in. This time I vowed to myself to just buckle down and finish it and I can say that I did that. (Well, maybe cheating a bit here and there-skimming over some dull parts). It will, unfortunately go into the I-have-no-real-desire-to-red-this-book-again-in-the-future column.

Renata Cordona is a Private Investigator working undercover as a real estate agent. Someone is luring female real estate agents to out of the way homes and killing them. While at one such house, Renata is waiting for a buyer when she is almost attacked by a pack of dogs. When out of nowhere a wolf comes to her rescue and scares the pack of dogs away. Renata is a loner. After the death of her parents and two boyfriends, she is not willing to risk getting hurt again so it is easier to be alone. Jacob Marshall is also a loner. He comes from a long line of werewolves. Each werewolf is a loner until he finds his mate and starts a family. But his cousin is trying to change that and bring the Marshal’s together as a family. From the first moment Jacob sees Renata, he feels like he has known her before. Renata feels the same about Jacob. They are destined to be together but first they have to defeat a great evil that has been able to keep them apart for a long time. Not only do their very lives depend on defeating evil, but also the fate of the world. The Marshall’s and their mates will have to join with Jacob and Renata in order to win the day.
Ms York has done it again. She has put together an enchanting paranormal romance that readers will enjoy very much. The struggle between Jacob and Renata just proves that love can conquer over evil. In my opinion this is one of the best of the Moon series yet. Hopefully we will by seeing more of the Marshall men and their mates. This is a definite keeper. Ms York does a great job of keeping each story fresh and different for the last ones in this series.
Renata and Jacob have been playing out their love and mistrust in innumerable lifetimes, influenced by the demon Questabaze, who's goal is to keep them apart. It started as the earth goddess Rocanda and half god Jalerak, who had a great passion... but the demon planted seeds of doubt, and Rocanda mistakenly killed Jalerak by pushing him off the mountain... and variations played out incarnation after incarnation, of mistrust and misunderstanding fed by Questabaze.
but now Jalerak is reincarnated in Jacob, a werewolf - making him stronger... both are struggling to understand the undercurrents between them - and Renata is feeling crazy as her dreams & sleepwalking take her to a time & place of alters and flowers and stones and patterns... Renata is a PI, investigating the deaths of real estate women, by posing as a real estate agent... Jacob, as wolf, steps in to protect her against a pack of dogs that Questabaze has set against her at an empty house out in the country... and thus begins their relationship...
they meet and make love in their shared dream... they meet and make love in his house... and then Questabaze (who of course has been killing the women) plants evidence to make it look like Jacob is the murderer - and when Jacob finds her with that evidence & she had called the police, he forces her to go with him through the portal to the alternate world... a world found in other Moon books, but which I have not read... his cousins on our side are working to help him when they discover the police investigating him, and his cousins on the otherside come to his aid... Renata taps into her 'goddess' power to heal him after an attack by slavers, and his friends & cousins meet with them to help them understand thier psychic link... and they confront their long ago past, and work to trust each other now...
They return to Ross & 3 other cousins and lifemates protection - they draw out the demon, and defeat him by their trust & joined power... ahhhh

The stories about the Marshall boys just get stranger and stranger. Now we’re into reincarnated lovers involving an ancient earth goddess.
Renata Cordona is a PI pretending to be a real-estate agent and Jacob Marshal uses his ability to communicate with animals to work as a dog trainer and rescuer. As they work together to discover a murderer they discover their secret cursed past. Discovering and correcting the problem takes them to the other dimension world and into a world of their own.
We veer a bit into classic mythology here and there’s a lot of mystical stuff and symbolism. The other world is starting to come together and make sense, due to that a lot of the Marshals seem to be there. I love Gunner the dog.
Quick Thoughts: 1) I feel kind of glad there’s only a few books left. I like the Marshalls but some aspects of the stories are awkwardly strange.
Fave Scenes: the broken porch, Renata’s garden sleepwalk, Jacob meeting Gunner and Sun Acres lady’s garden.
This has an interesting mix of reincarnation, suspense, romance, science fiction and paranormal elements. Very well written too!
Private investigator, Renata Cordona has some kind of psychic ability that even she isn't aware of but unexpected things keep happening to her. She is investigating the real estate agent murders and Jacob Marshall keeps showing up in werewolf form and saving her life. Renata and Jacob have been reincarnated for hundres of years and a demon keeps interferring with their happiness. In addition to solving the murders, they also must find a way to stop the demon from separating them once again.
I thought this was a good addition to the series. It blended more of the other world that had been in the last few books. That part is ok, but a little goes a long way. Some of my favorite parts are where the family and their life mates come together to help out the new couple. I enjoy reading about the others that and seeing them work past things to interact, something they all never thought would happen.
I don't know why this book didn't "click" more for me. All the elements I typically find appealing were there. Somehow, though, they weren't set up right. It felt a bit haphazard and random. The elements themselves weren't any more fantastical than I typically read, but they seemed to be more or less dropped into place. I also didn't really connect to any of the characters as much as I would have liked. Maybe if I had, the story elements would have felt more satisfying.
I liked this book to a point. It was written in typical Rebecca York fashion with fairly good characters and some sexy scenes, but I wasn't pulled in like I was in the beginning of this series. She has taken it a bit far afield for me. It was okay. I read it quickly, but I am not sure I will read another one.
I loved it! I so wish I had the whole series and could read it from start to finish. RY has created a world full of the supernatural and danger mixed into a wonderful romance.
