BUYING ADVISORY: ESSENTIAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH
Similar to I Thought I Saw A Dinosaur! this board book is an interactive book focusing on playing a game of hide-and-seek. There are very few pages due to the complex nature of creating the hide and seek mechanisms but well worth the price! This is a unique book unlike any other I have read. Children use a “dial” or slider on each page to move the dinosaur into view. The dinosaur is a bright green neon color that makes hunting easy and fun.
I Thought I Saw A Lion! is a perfect combination of fun and learning Not only will children love looking for the dinosaur, each page has multiple illustrations that could be used to reinforce counting and some color recognition. I can see parents spending many hours with this fun interactive board book.
This is a really fun interactive book. Each spread asks where the lion is and the reader can slide the circle to reveal or hide the lion in each scene. It's a great way to learn about different places and talk about what happens there - a restaurant, shop, library, and beauty parlor. I recommend this for babies and toddlers.
I like this book because It's an Orange Aardvark! had holes and I Thought I Saw a Lion! had movers/slots, and the lion comes out, and one of them, a girl comes out the same time the lion comes out! And the same time the lion goes down, the girl goes down.
The illustrations are darling. And the book and it's "slide-and-seek" are thankfully sturdy (sturdy!) enough to weather a toddlers curiosity or mechanics. Whether it will garner Ellie's approval remains to be seen.
This was okay. I liked the other book I read in this series more (I thought I saw a crocodile). The places the lion was hiding in were kind of random (beauty parlor?!?) I like the design of the slider
Is a lion hanging out at the restaurant? What about the costume store? Find out in this short, simple, board book filled with stiff cardboard sliders revealing the lion's hiding places.
