Hello! I’m Jennifer Daniels, author of Fantasy/Romance novels. I was born and raised in Upstate, NY, and still reside there with my husband and son.
Writing was never on my radar until my son asked me to help him write a book. After helping him I decided to give it a try. That was when Opalla was born.
I love Harry Potter and the Hallmark channel, but I must confess I'm a huge paranormal junkie.
This is unique and interesting story. I thought the characters were intriguing as more was revealed throughout the story. The author gave hints to upcoming books. The story does have multiple view points that seemed to shift abruptly which was cause for some confusion. I found the use of names within the dialog sometimes unnecessary and distracting. The conversations didn’t seem natural. Overall, I enjoyed the book and am curious to see what happens next.
I received a copy of this book from the author, my review has been voluntarily submitted.
Sometimes things pull you together when life gets tough and throws a tail spin on your world you think you have see it all then secret come out that the people you loved hid from you and your world takes another tail spin. What a great read I really liked some of the characters but there are a lot to keep up with and they really make your head spin. The plot was great the author has a lot of twists and turns that really keeps the story moving and interesting. Three women who come from loving homes and lost their parents grow up to find they have powers, as they learn more about them they have to find the guardians before the trouble starts that could change their life forever.
I really liked the fast pace, the twists and turns as well as the mystery along with the excitement and danger. The author really gives you a well thought out story that holds your attention. The sisters are very different some I liked more than others but it shows true to form for most families. It will be interesting to see where the author takes the next book as well as learning more about these women and how they will deal with the issues to come. It is well worth your time and I will read it again at some point because I know I missed a few things. ********************
Scarlette, Lyndy, Poppy, and Lucca have all grown up together never realizing there was so much more to who they are than just friends. While this book starts the series, it's mainly about Lyndy and Lucca and how figuring out a secret their parents kept hidden from them has changed their lives forever.
Now, what I didn't like about this book? Lyndy was so immature. I'm going to assume these characters are around late 20's maybe early 30's, yet Lyndy throws tantrums like a child! She surrounds herself in her own little bubble and doesn't realize that what she does has effects on others, including her sisters. She was also very abrasive, the cursing like a sailor thing was just over the top in this book. I'm no prude when it comes to cursing, but the way the author wrote Lyndy, every other word out of her mouth was fuck!
I might pick up the second to this when it comes out. I'm curious about Scarlette, who seems to be the more soft-spoken of the sisters.
This is a fast moving story that has some quirky characters who discover that they are not of this world. What begins to unfurl is the world of Opalla and much of what that means will probably be revealed in future stories. This book introduces us to main characters and a little of the world, both of which I hope the author will continue to develop. The language is raw and a little bawdy, sometimes crass, but I suspect that this is more revelatory than tantalizing. I will definitely read the next book.
This is a sweet and interesting story of friends that two have gone through the most horrendous thing imaginable loosing their parents and the friends that are there to help them through it . But there is more to meet the eyes with these friends then meets the eye . They are special and when they are older they find out what they really are and who they are really meant to be . This book was a good read there were so many characters to keep track of that some times is was hard to remember who was talking at the point . We have Poppy, Lyndy and Scarlette who have grown up together . They each have their own personality that is uniquely their own . As you read in the book you find out there is more to each of them . They find out that they have otherworldly powers and have to find their guardians here on earth cause trouble is coming . Each character is well written and you can't help but love them . The book is full of some good twists and turns that you really don't see coming . I don't want to spoil it for you , but you will like the twists . The story is fast paced and I am pretty sure you can have it done in a evening . So if you want a good sci fi read check it out
From the cover this story sees like a sweet lovable story but we have much more. There are 3 women that grew up together and they find out that they have these powers and they have guardians on Earth that are there to help them. So it's a bit of romance, sci fi, paranormal, and fantasy all wrapped into one. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to more. The action, adventure, and twists and turns had me intrigued.
Four friends-two sisters(Scarlette and Lyndy), two cousins(Poppy and Luca)-have been together for while. Luca and Lyndy have been a couple for six years when changes occur that makes him step back, breaking Lyndy's heart. Five more years pass and Luca's back with an explanation of why he left, along with Poppy's parents.
This was an amazing story. I enjoyed it. I can't wait for Zarn and Scarlette's story.
I really enjoyed this book!! Wonderful characters, great storyline, I couldn't put it down! A fantastic story of family, friendship, and love with a twist! A must read! Can't wait to read the next book in this series.
"I'd some serious issues with this story because the background plot was really interesting. The glimpses of mystery and fantasy combined had me hooked from the beginning but the whole drama at some point was annoying. I wasn't sure if I was going to continue with the story because let's be honest there's a thin line between being brokenhearted and being a b*tch. Lyndy was by far the most annoying, frustrating and mean FMC! Did I mention childish? Girl, I get the dude broke your heart but come on why the need to be a cr*el b*tch that's just a huge NO to me. She was dumb, acted like a spoiled b*at and well how old was she... three? No kidding! I thought she was going to grow up thought out the story but sadly at the end she reminded as a child, at least to me. I totally get why things well... everything happens for a reason. Like I said, aside from the romance the plot was quite intriguing and somehow different from my usual reads that's why I'm giving it three stars. If it weren't for the awful attitude I would have like it more because being completely honest I do want to read the next installment. So far Scar's story seems promising even after what she went through so I'm looking forward for her story."
My MIL gave me three books by this author because she is a relative of hers. She wanted me to read them first to see what I thought before she read them. I gotta say, I can't picture her reading them because there was a lot of swearing and steamy sex scenes! The way the dialog was written was super annoying. Way to many name drops and the point of view switched very abruptly at times which made it hard to follow. The whole book sort of read like you were reading a teenage girl's diary but these women were supposedly in their late 20's, early 30's? Lyndy's character in particular really bothered me. The author had to mention more than once that she "always said what was on her mind and had a temper" which I thought was pretty obvious by the amount of swearing and the amount of temper tantrums she had. With all that being said, I did really like the story. The other characters balanced out the bad one. They all had their own unique personalities and I thought the author was good at developing them. Especially since this was her debut novel. I was never annoyed enough to set the book down. Already planning on starting the second book tonight!
A unique storyline, it was quite an undertaking getting all the intricate details to fall into place and set in motion. I was intrigued with the journey this would take me on. Love these characters and the unity that the author created amongst them. The world building is wondrous! I wish the title of book 2 was given at the end of book. Looking forward to the continuing story.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I love the connection between Luca and Lyndy, but also the 3 sisters and the close family bonds. This book created a new way and a new world to people with powers. The characters development was amazing and I'm excited to read the next in series.
This was a really interesting read as it really had so many layers to it. I really liked all the main characters as they all were interesting in their own ways. I loved all the twists and turns that this story provided as well. I would love to read more in this world.
The concept of the story was interesting and I enjoyed the different unique powers they possessed but I had a hard time getting into the story. I didn’t really connect with any of the characters unfortunately and the dialogue just didn’t flow natural it felt stiff and unnatural.
I thought this was an original twist on Other worldly romances. The characters were well rounded and Lyndy seems to have an attitude. However, I loved the story and look forward to reading more of the books like, Scarlette's and Poppy's.
I thought this was a sweet story. Olympians and weird abilities, Scarlett and Lyndy have been kept in the dark about their heritage. Wait until you start reading!
