I've skipped reading this book for a while because of all the hype buzzing around this book on the web. To my surprise, this was a no fluff book packed with pretty much everything you'd need to know about cutting your body fat percentage and exposing your six pack. I was even more surprised to discover how much of an emphasis this book placed on health and couldn't have agreed more.

I bought it in January 2012 and within 3 months it had already changed my physical and mental life for the better. I learned from it and follow it always - it changed my life forever. Having been a product of diets my entire life, it took the writing of Mike Geary to help me realize that diets do not work, and you have to make a lifestyle change.
At 5'-8" I was 243 lbs with a 42.5 inch waist. My cholesterol was borderline pre diabetic, and I was never happy. Within 1 year all the bad numbers dropped and the good went up. My Dr. could not believe it.

It took me from June 2012 (when I bought this manual) till about 2016 or so when I reached my happy goal (or critical mas in the financial market haha) . Now I'm just refining and sculpting. Eating clean is a way of life for me. When I’m out with friends or clients and clean food is unavailable, I just eat the safest thing on the menu – it’s really very simple. And I don’t have the cravings for the garbage I used to have. Once in a while I eat Gelato, and I still have my Margherita Pizza maybe once a month, but to be honest, I got so used to eating clean food, I really don’t crave the bad stuff at all very much – certainly not like I used to. And when I do, I just have it and get it over with! Like Mike Geary says, "YOU ARE NOT DEAD" lol
Here’s the deal, if you read the manual in its entirety, everything he says is so well documented and researched, and if you FOLLOW IT, you WILL get amazing results. What he is saying is to EAT REAL FOOD! And the foods he recommends actually help you lose weight. What I have also earned, and see it every day in the gym, is that you can do all the exercises you want, but if your diet is crap, then your results will be the same. It all begins in the kitchen! And when it comes to fat loss he tells you 'LEAN MUSCLE MASS IS THE BEST FAT BURNER' – how is that bad advice?
Mike Geary NEVER said Cardio was ‘bad’, what he said was LONG SEGMENTS OF CARDIO can end up burning more lean muscle mass than SHORT SPURTS like HIIT! After reading that comment from the user from October 2008 who said Mike Geary is ‘against Cardio’ not only proved that this person is ignorant, but also how rumors and bad information can be dangerous.
Before I came across The Truth About Abs I had been doing daily sit ups for months and wondering why my stomach actually looked BIGGER than when I started.
Thanks to this book I discovered that I was simply tightening up the muscles under the LAYER OF FAT that covered my belly which did actually results in making me look bigger round my middle...
So, I have now learned from this book what foods and which type of exercises burn that fat layer and which stomach exercises actually then work best to create flat abs!
I have been doing some of the beginner and intermediate level workout routines. HOLY CRAP, those workouts get me sweating like nothing else. I especially love/hate the squat presses and renegade rows.

I found this to be a serious book about exercise which was what I was looking for. I am in the process of identifying the workout that will help me reach my goals. I did not read the last chapter about diet because I am already in the process of reading Mike Geary,s book, The Flat Belly Kitchen.
