I write action-packed sci-fi and historical fantasy. I want to immerse readers in another time and place and for my stories to be gripping adventures. You should love my complex heroes and hate the twisted bad guys.

If you like the sound of that then check out; GODS OF BRONZE (my new historical fantasy series), THE IMMORTAL KNIGHT CHRONICLES (bestselling historical fantasy) and the GALACTIC ARENA series (smart military scifi).

Thanks for taking an interest in my stories. Follow me here on Goodreads to keep up to date with releases.

This series is getting better and better.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I must admit, I want to kill William almost as much as Sir Richard. Action packed with a different take on the vampire legend. Highly recommended.

Once again Dan Davis has delivered on his promise to immerse the reader in a gripping, action-packed adventure set in another time and place.

In this sixth installment of the Immortal Knight Chronicles our flawed hero, Sir Richard of Asbury, once again clashes with his vicious nemesis, Sir William de Ferrers, who seeks to enslave the world under a diabolical vampire dominion.

The struggle between Richard and William takes place against the backdrop of the Ottoman Wars in the Balkans beginning at the Battle of Varna in 1444 and concluding a year after the Battle of Vaslui in 1476.

William pursues his demonic goals through his influence at the Ottoman court. There he assumes an alter ego - Zaganos Pasha (an actual historical character) and becomes one of the prominent military commanders of Mehmed II and a lala – the sultan's advisor, councillor, protector, all at once.

Richard works to thwart William's dirty work by manipulating the forces Christendom. Over the course of thirty-two years (virtually a human's lifetime), he gains the trust (and the ears) of such real-life figures as Hungarian regent Janos Hunyadi and Moldavia's King Stephen by proving himself a loyal and valuable military asset. The troops of his mercenary company are stalwart in battle and the fastest, most enduring on the march. Richard offers sound advice during war councils.

The battle scenes are spectacular, gripping, and suspenseful. Whenever Richard draws his sword the action is non-stop and bloody. You're never sure how the battle is going to go (unless you're silly enough to read about it elsewhere) or whether or not beloved characters will survive.

Mr. Davis certainly proves himself a stickler for authenticity. I often Google the place names in the story so I can follow what's happening on a map. I'm just the kind of guy who likes to see the scheme of maneuver and the order of battle. I must say Dan Davis is faithful to the historical narrative, except of course for such fanciful things as the Red Janissaries. Even the letter that Vlad the Impaler writes to King Mattias Corvinus of Hungary boasting of his raids into Turkish Rumelia is authentic.

Davis manages to bring all of his characters to life. They are well written, each with their own distinct personality and world view. Full of bloody gore but often quite humorous, this epic adventure of revenge over the centuries is a punchy, smart fantasy/historical novel that kept me intrigued.

FAR AWAY PLACES WITH STRANGE SOUNDING NAMES.

Yes honestly, half of them I couldn't even pronounce!! I However, back to the continuing story of Richard of Ashbury v his evil brother William. The first half of the book concentrates on battles fought in those foreign countries mentioned at the start of the review and it's only till about half way in that we first encounter Vlad Dracula. Be aware, this Dracula is not your typical Hammer Horror type Dracula. There's no windows opening on there own, Dracula doesn't float in on a cloud of mist and there's no beautiful woman with heaving breasts in a night dress waiting for him to bite her in the neck. No this Dracula is cruel beyond belief. Men women and children are slaughtered by the thousand as the books cover depicts. Interspersed with all that going on, Richard is still hunting his evil brother William, continues the battles and hopes to eventually catch and kill him. Phew!! Followers of the series will love this book, those who haven't can simply enjoy it as a stand alone read. How does it end, well give it a try and find out. As ever, I loved it and can't wait for the next instalment.

So far was the best book out of the series (not that others were bad) really enjoyed reading it. Gives more depth to the character and his existence as a vampire. And Vlad, amazing character hopefully we will see him more.
So far throughout the series wars become tiring and constant run though each books gives more insight into vampires and their existence which brings the whole series again back to excitement.
Just as it gets to the point "oh its gonna happen again", something is added to the plot or side plot and you get into wanting to read what is gonna happen next. Each book main character develops.
As a massive vampire literature fan, love this series

A fascinating and thrilling story.

This book gives a different slant to the vampire myth. Even the dreaded Vlad (the impaler) Dracul was shown in a different light. There was a military logic to his cruelty, no matter what we, in the "civilised" 21st century might think. This is an exceptional series and I warmly recommend it.

A blood thirsty tale indeed

You are immersed into the bloody struggle between the Balkans and the Turkish empire. There are lots of twists and turns, and the story takes in Dracula in the form of Vlad the Impaler. The story and struggle continues at an excellent pace, and this book is yet stronger than its predecessors well worth the read.

Another great book I this series!

This book has everything that we have come to expect in this series. It was a fast pace, a lot of action, history information, and it would have been a five stars but I hate when the author kills off a main character. Get the books and leave your reviews.

The Chase Continues

Each book increases the pace and character development. The historical fiction in each makes the story so interesting, and just when you think William is finally cornered....he escapes to start a whole new reign of terror!

A somewhat faster read than the previous books, with much less detail exploring the 'action' and more ovof a narrative of the bloody perios in the mid 1400's of the Ottoman invasions into the Balkans.

This one wasn't my favorite so far but it was still so good. I like that the vampire world is expanding and Richard is meeting more and more of his kind. But honestly I wished that I was Eva, I love her and the relationship that she and Richard have is envious.
