Loving the Enemy, Manhattan Sweethearts Book One by CJ Marie

Blair Angela Call works at JKN Investments as a CPA in New York. She is very focused and driven in her need to become partner at work. Even if it means putting up with her handsy boss.

Adam Nelson is a contract attorney who is also on the fast rack to becoming a partner. He is arrogant, but he doesn’t let it bother him to much since he has his eye on the prize.

After a somewhat unclear New Years party, Blair finds herself wrapped up next to a sleeping and sexy man. With a throbbing headache and self-preservation, she bails. The universe thinking it wasn’t enough to have a walk of shame, she now comes face to face with her sexy bed partner. Adam can’t begin to thank his lucky stars that he gets to see the woman that got away again and now he can’t wait to get her back there again. That is until he finds the angel from his dreams is none other than the witch from his nightmares. All the is standing between his client and a very lucrative deal is her approval and she refuses to give it. He worked long and hard on this deal and he will do just about anything to get it. When Adam tries to love on the enemy to get what he wants, will he be able to walk away unaffected or will the witch sink her claws into his heart?

Oh, my goodness I absolutely loved this book! Blair and Adam had me laughing from the very beginning of this book. The snarky comments and sultry looks had me laughing and sighing all the way through to. I can’t tell you how many times I snorted while reading this. Both Blair and Adam had pre conceived notions of each other and when they find there is more than meets the eye it was humbling for both. I highlighted so many passages in this book and I plan on rereading it again. I am waiting with bated breath for book two in the series. I can only imagine the hilarity that is in store for me to read next.

I found that I really enjoyed this book very much. I appreciated that the sex scenes weren't overly descriptive and the swearing was kept to a minimum. The chemistry was palpable without all the details.

Blair (Angela) was a woman who had stepped out of her simple beginnings and made a name for herself as a very no-frills business woman who did what she had to do by working hard to make a name for herself. She was hoping for a partner position at her firm and was liked by all her clients and coworkers. Her boss, Jonathan, was creepy and inappropriate in his attentions to her but she was willing to put up with it as long as it didn't go too far.

Blair had let her hair down on New Year's Eve and gotten a little drunk and found herself in the bed of a very handsome man that she didn't know. Actually, he looked a little familiar but she couldn't place him. When she arrived at work the following day, there he was in all his business glory representing his client and seeking investment funds from her client.

Adam had been Blair's nemesis in high school. He was one of the jerk jocks who made her life miserable. Both Adam and Blair had secrets that they didn't share with others. They were locked away for safe-keeping but as they spent time together, they began to see that their impressions of each other from high school may not have been accurate. The chemistry between the two of them was off-the-charts, too. Was it possible to be vulnerable and open to pain and heartache for the possibility of a happy ever after?

There is so much more to the story but I am going to let you discover that for yourself.

I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest opinion.

A new name and genre led me to this gem of a read. It’s hot and steamy without the details which makes it so much better. I love this new journey into the romance arena from this author. This read includes so much that you can’t help but follow along and just bask in its goodness. He was a brutal attorney who had a background full of pain and misery that he tried to hide from the public. She had an image totally different from who she was and protected her family with love. One crazy night with tons of alcohol and their lives would never be the same. Fierce loyalty and protection of those they love lead these two to battle. Now if they can put all of that into fighting for each other maybe just maybe they can have what neither ever thought they deserved. I absolutely loved these characters. Their fierce loyalty and love, the way they had each other’s back and not just for romance but for so much more. Abuse in any form is never okay no matter what the circumstances, knowing there is someone who has your back and that protects you no matter the cost is half the battle. With these two leading the battle cry loving your enemy may be the best thing yet. Awesome read I can’t wait for more from this author who is nailing the genre like she did the other and keeping you invested in these characters and their hea from the first line to the last!!

Blair wants badly to shed her past, but her past comes back to haunt her when her New Years Prince turns out to be someone she mistakenly believes is not so charming.
Blair is forced to work with “Prince”Adam, and he manages to secure a weekend with her folks and charms them. She soon discovers that maybe Cinderella was the one who lacked charm.
This book has #MeToo moments and enough intrigue and heart to keep one hooked.
My only problem with the book is that it is too “blue” right at the beginning. It feels a little un-necessary and over-the-top at that point.
I have received this book as a free ARC, but I am giving my review freely and own opinion.

Loving on the Enemy was such a fun book. There were no graphic sex scenes and swearing is minimal which, in my mind, make this a great book. Blair and Adam were high school classmates. Both have preconceived ideas of the other's character. (Both are mistaken). There is plenty of chemistry between Blair and Adam. We have some great villains in Blair's CEO and Adam's dad. This book has a great plot that will take you some places you did not expect with some chuckles (and some rage) along the way. I could not put the book down. Do not miss this one.

Enemy to Lover Romance
This is book 1 in the "Manhattan Sweethearts" series
The heroine "Blair" and the hero "Adam" had a one night stand not knowing each other's names in the beginning of the book
The day after New Year's they meet again by chance at the company she works for
Can them work their way through what life deals them in regards to their families and find a HEA together or will they walk away from each other cause they can't deal with the other's family and background that made them who they are today
I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book

Above average

Not great, but certainly above average for what I’ve found in ‘romance’ books lately.
I only give 5 star ratings to books I would read again. While this one didn’t reach that level, it is definitely above average.
Clean, sweet, but not sickeningly sweet. It was just a good romance.
Makes me want to read other books by this author, to see if this is a normal occurrence for this writer, or if it was a fluke.
Either way, it was a nice, relaxing afternoon romance and I enjoyed it very much.

Such a sweet, clean, tense, angst-filled, sweet, angst-filled, surprising, angst-filled, sweet, wonderful...love story. I could go on and on about sweet, surprising, angst-filled, etc. But you’ll just have to read it for yourself. Lots of misunderstandings, twists and turns keep you wondering how things will ever work out and have you flipping pages until the end. It’s all good in the end but getting there is what makes this a fun read. And, of course, a great HEA that makes it all wonderful.

A Good Story by a new author to me

The author did a good job with the storyline and all of the characters she developed in this book. It was interesting to watch Adam and Blair {Angela} develop through everything that kept happening . It just didn't hold my interest, not the book for me today.
I received an ARC copy of this book. This is my voluntary and honest review with my personal thoughts and opinions.
