Cut and Run

Rate this book
The Sisterhood: a group of women from all walks of life bound by friendship and a quest for justice. Armed with vast resources, top-notch expertise, and a loyal network of allies around the globe, the Sisterhood will not rest until every wrong is made right.

It’s been three months since Countess Annie de Silva slipped away from her home before dawn, leaving a cryptic note and no clue as to her destination. That’s an eternity for friends as devoted as the Sisterhood. Now they’re desperate to ensure that their founding member is alive and well, and that means tracking her down—wherever in the world she might be.

Myra Rutledge, Annie’s closest confidante, knows the secrets of Annie’s past, including the remote mountain in Spain where Annie spent some of the best—and worst—days of her life. Annie vowed that she’d never return to the mountain or the stunning monastery there. But the memories of the past have called her back. Now, she needs allies who are fearless, loyal, and willing to do whatever it takes to see justice done. And with the safety of one of their own on the line, the Sisterhood won’t let her down . . .

Fern Michaels isn’t a person. I’m not sure she’s an entity either since an entity is something with separate existence. Fern Michaels® is what I DO. Me, Mary Ruth Kuczkir. Growing up in Hastings, Pennsylvania, I was called Ruth. I became Mary when I entered the business world where first names were the order of the day. To this day, family and friends call me Dink, a name my father gave me when I was born because according to him I was ‘a dinky little thing’ weighing in at four and a half pounds. However, I answer to Fern since people are more comfortable with a name they can pronounce.

As they say, the past is prologue. I grew up, got a job, got married, had five kids. When my youngest went off to Kindergarten, my husband told me to get off my ass and get a job. Those were his exact words. I didn’t know how to do anything except be a wife and mother. I was also a voracious reader having cut my teeth on The Bobbsey Twins, Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, Cherry Ames and the like. The library was a magical place for me. It still is to this day. Rather than face the outside world with no skills, I decided to write a book. For some reason that didn’t intimidate me. As my husband said at the time, stupid is as stupid does. Guess what, I don’t have that husband any more. Guess what else! I wrote 99 books, most of them New York Times Best Sellers.

Moving right along here . . . Several years ago I left Ballantine Books, parted company with my agent, sold my house in New Jersey that I had lived in all my married life and in 1993 moved to South Carolina. I figured if I was going to go through trauma let it be all at one time. It was a breeze. The kids were all on their own at that point. The dump was a 300 year old plantation house that is listed in the National Registry that I remodeled. Today it is beyond belief as are the gardens and the equally old Angel Oaks that drip Spanish moss. Unfortunately, I could not get my ghost to relocate. This ghost has been documented by previous owners. Mary Margaret as we call her, is “a friendly”. She is also mischievous. It took me two weeks to figure out that she didn’t like my coffee cups. They would slide off the table or counter or else they’d break in the dishwasher. I bought red checkered ones. All are intact as of this writing. She moves pillows from one room to the other and she stops all the clocks in the house at 9:10 in the a.m. at least once a week. When the Azaleas are in bloom, and only then, I find blooms on my night stand. I have this glorious front porch and during the warm months I see my swing moving early in the morning when the air is still and again late in the day. She doesn’t spook the dogs. I always know when she’s around because the five of them line up and look like they’re at a tennis match. As of this writing we’re co-habiting nicely.

Most writers love what they do and I’m no exception. I love it when I get a germ of an idea and get it down on paper. I love breathing life into my characters. I love writing about women who persevere and prevail because that’s what I had to do to get to this point in time. It’s another way of saying it doesn’t matter where you’ve been, what matters is where you’re going and how you get there. The day I finally prevailed was the day I was inducted into the New Jersey Literary Hall of Fame. For me it was an awesome day and there are no words to describe it.
I’ve been telling stories and scribbling for 37 years. I hope I can continue for another 37 years. It wasn’t easy during some of those years. As I said, I had to persevere. My old Polish grandmother said something to me when I was little that I never forgot. She said when God is good to you, you have to give back. For a while I didn’t know how to do that. When I finally figured it out I set up The Fern Michaels® Foundation.

I won this novel in a goodreads drawing.

Campy novel about The Sisterhood. Countess Anne DeSilva is in trouble and returns to the convent where she was raised. The whole Sisterhood goes to help her out.

I rolled my eyes a lot.

I've read all the Sisterhood books and have liked them all. But I'm sorry to say, I was disappointed in this one. It just wasn't as good.

This is a fun series to read as the Sisterhood helps each one of the Sisters and a few others along the way.
---------------------
**Must read the series in order.**
Love, Love this series. Highly recommend to those that enjoy: Fast reads, Some romance, crime-suspense, mystery suspense, chic lit n romance n drama, humor, action packed suspense romance, mf. Started reading Fern Michaels in 2018. (As I write this review I'm up to book 26. March 1st 2019.

Must begin with book and read them in order to understand all of the people that come into the Sisterhood and when the men start coming into it. Love the changes of the Post and how everyone works together around the table. Nothing gets discussed at the dinner table but only in the war room.

Romances develop, marriages happen, punishment/revenge happens to someone who wronged someone else whether it is someone within the Sisterhood or a random person. The sisters all work together to get through the tough times and the happy times. So many twists and turns. Love, Love reading this series. I take time off after I read a couple books and read my other genres and come back to read this series.

This is a series I have loved from the beginning and I really love that the boys and girls are back working together. This book seemed VERY different from all the past books because ao the lack of details in the capture of the bad guys. Past books have taken pleasure in the gruesome details of how they made the bad guys pay for their misdeeds. This book skips over everything after the capture and goes just ends. Not the normal Fern Michaels ending???

When I read in the intro to this book that it was Fern Michael's 30th installment in the Sisterhood Series I thought "that's pretty amazing to keep a series going that long". There have been times in the course of reading all these books that I thought she should wrap it up, but then she would come back with a great story. This story is mediocre at best, IMHO. The story was slow from the beginning and though the ending was emotional, it wasn't the big bang I enjoy in a great story. 4 out of 10.

While the story line was interesting and it was good to learn Annie’s back story, the presentation was blah. And the girl’s response had no oompf. This book just wasn’t as good as previous ones.

A sappy story with a very happy ending. The Sisterhood thrives again. Unfortunately, I jumped ahead, way ahead, in reading this book in the series. This isn't a revenge story like the others. It's about entitlements, kidnapping, & refusal to acknowledge what's right in front of you; the truth! The story takes place on international soil & it has its fill of violence, offensive language, unity, survival instincts, & love.

I won this book in one of goodreads giveaways. Fern Michaels takes you through the lives of a group of women that we recognize in people we see everyday. They argue, get angry, resolve their issues amongst each other & they genuinely care for one another. I would never recommend jumping through the series. Start at book 1 & get to know each character intimately.

As usual the latest Sisterhood book is as good as the others. Well, to be honest, I think it’s one of the best ones. Annie is the primary character, with Myra stepping in to help. Then the Sisters and the boys get involved. It’s a fast paced, hard to put down story. To be honest, I don’t know how Fern Michaels will top this story.

This is the first book from Fern Michaels that I have ever read. It doesn’t help that it is the 30th book in the series, but I finished it anyway. From me starting in the series that I did some things didn’t make sense, but it was good overall. If you are going to read this book I would suggest reading the other books in this series first.

Cut and Run: Sisterhood Series Book 30 is by Fern Michaels. This book is again a hit for Michaels. It is easy to read and full of action and suspense. Unlike the other books in the series, the girls and boys are working together instead of apart. This makes for more interest this time. Cyrus, Jack’s dog is there to add a little bit of spice and a laugh or two to the story.
Annie de Silva is awakened one early morning with the feeling that something was just not right. She was finally going to call Myra and see if she knew anything when she got the phone call. This phone call was from Padre Diaz at the village at the base of the mountain she inherited when her husband died. He had a message from Father Mendoza asking her to return to the mountain. She had vowed never to return to that mountain; but this phone call meant she had to. She had to figure out what was going on.
The one thing she didn’t do before she left was to tell anyone where she was going or why. Her note to Fergus simply said she had something she had to do and would be gone for a while. Then she, her airplane, and its pilot disappeared.
Three months later, the girls are insisting Charles Martin let them do something. The boys agreed with them. Three months was too long for her not to have at least called. After discussing where they might go, Myra who had known Annie since they were babies, decided to go to the mountain and see if Annie was there. She insisted on going alone; but agreed to have Charles and the others follow her there in a few days. This was a good idea since as soon as Myra got out of the helicopter, she was met with a man with a gun. What had Annie and now Myra gotten into?

When Countess Annie de Silva mysteriously disappears, the Sisterhood knows one thing for sure—this is not a “she just needed some space” situation. In Cut and Run, Fern Michaels throws the crew into an international rescue mission filled with cryptic notes, old enemies, and a location Annie swore she’d never return to. Myra Rutledge, ever the fearless leader, isn’t about to let her bestie stay missing. So, naturally, the Sisterhood trades their usual brand of justice for some high-stakes sleuthing, heading straight to a remote mountain in Spain. Because if Annie’s in trouble, somebody’s about to regret their life choices.

This book has everything—danger, loyalty, dramatic reunions, and just enough European scenery to make you Google “cheap flights to Spain.” The bond between these women remains chef’s kiss, balancing heartwarming friendship with their signature brand of “don’t mess with us” energy. Annie’s backstory takes center stage, revealing secrets and past trauma that add extra layers to the mystery. Meanwhile, the villains? Oh, they never stood a chance. If you’ve ever wanted to see a group of badass women dismantle an international scheme while still finding time for emotional growth, this is your book.

At 4.5 stars, Cut and Run delivers another high-energy, satisfying installment in the Sisterhood series—but yes, you can jump in without reading the previous 29 books (though why deny yourself that joy?). Whether you're here for the action, the camaraderie, or just the pure satisfaction of watching powerful women handle business, this one is a win. Lesson of the day? Never underestimate a Sisterhood member on a mission.

My Review
Fern Michaels has done it again with Cut and Run. The sisterhood is at it again trying to solve what happened to Annie. Every new book is even better than the last one. The characters are well written and it's a fun read that keeps you wanting more.

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion and my recommendation is - get your copy today. I love it!!

Fern Michaels does it again, in this, the 30th book in The Sisterhood Series. Reading these books is like coming home. You know that the Sisterhood will be presented with a challenge to solve. It’s just a matter of how they come together and decide what needs to be done to meet this challenge. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot line presented here. It was nice to have some others involved in helping to solve the problem at hand. It was also great having the boys working with the sisters. However, note that there is less detail included during the resolution phase. The Sisterhood is typically a little more “physical” when punishing the ‘bad guys’. That being said, it was still an enjoyable read, and I look forward to the next in the series. Thank you to NetGalley, Kensington and Fern Michaels for the opportunity to review this book.

This novel deserves a solid 3 stars. This book is true to Fern Michaels style of writing.....a little cheesy ...a little preachy at times .... a lot of unnecessary dialogue ....but, it did hold my attention enough to read it in one day! At the start of the series, the books were fresh and fun to read. This book is her 30th. book (I think!!) of the series and it is getting a little worn out. Michaels needs to retire the girls and guys of the Sisterhood and start a new series. This book is for true die hearts of Fern Michaels. For the rest of us, I would wait until it comes out in the library!

I would like to thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in return for an honest and unbiased review of this book

Keep running

Very, very disappointing from her other books. Missed the mark. Couldn't believe I was reading the latest in this series! Had none of excitement as was written in her other books. Was such a let down from her other books. Went back a few pages to see if I had missed the punch line, the person's payback but there was a huge letdown. Wish I could get a refund for the disappointment I found in this book. Don't waste your time with it. I've read everyone of her books in this series but I could have sworn that this was a different series!! Don't know if I'll read any more of this series in the future.

This was a new book and author for me. I won it on a giveaway and am glad I did! I wasn't able to find the time to read it until now - and I shouldn't have waited! It was "Cut and Run" featuring the Sisterhood. This is not the first book of the series, but it won't be the last. I didn't feel I was reading anything but a stand alone book. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. It covered Spain and England and I loved the characters and the "Secret Society". There was adventure, kidnapping, mystery, and lots of excitement! I read it in one day, and I never do that. It has compelled me to go back to the beginning and read the Sisterhood Series!

It's hard to believe this is book 30 in the Sisterhood series. All the regulars are back to help out Countess Annie de Silva who has disappeared. The ladies are all worried and Myra focuses the search in the mountains of Spain where Annie spent a lot of her younger years. I enjoy this series and many of Fern Michaels numerous books but this story seemed a little rushed at the end. The story was just a little slow to develop and the conversations seemed stilted and forced. Readers who like the series will enjoy but as a first book to new readers it will seem a little bland. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

A captivating, action-packed novel following a group of friends/colleagues known as the Sisterhood (and the spinoff Brotherhood.) Although this is the 30th book in the series, the book stands fairly well on its own. There was only a few times I felt I was missing some important details (i.e. why the pearls were so important to Myra). The pacing was easy to get through but at times seemed to lag when information was repeated and no action was taking place. Overall, it was an enjoyable read but isn't a story I feel captivated enough by to re-read in the future or feel compelled to read the earlier books of the series.

I have read over 25 books from the Sisterhood series and still surprised that Michaels comes up with more story lines. Having read so many from this series, I get a more intimate vibe of the characters and of course, have my favorites. I really enjoyed Cut and Run. The title fit the story line perfectly. My only little disappointment was the ending. Previous books have stretched out the "revenge" phase so you get a good feel for what the sisters inflicted on their victims, but this one seemed to run through that part too quickly. Felt like the ending was written in a rush. Otherwise, I liked it and would recommend it.
