The fur is really going to fly when groomer Cassie McGlone drags in a catnapper . . .
With her new van, Cassie has expanded her Comfy Cat business to include mobile cat grooming. Next a cat expo at a hotel just outside her hometown of Chadwick, New Jersey, where Cassie will give a grooming demo using shelter cats to encourage adoption while her veterinarian boyfriend Mark will offer a program on cat care and health.
The highlight of the expo will be a major cat show featuring pop sensation Jaki Natal. Almost as famous as his owner is her pet Gordie, a Scottish fold, who's become a social media darling. But when adorable Gordie goes missing and his sitter is found murdered, Jaki is having kittens. While the cops are more interested in solving the murder of a human, Jaki insists Cassie help expose the catnapper and return gorgeous Gordie to the fold. Now it's Cassie's turn to solo as she plays a deadly game of cat-and-mouse with a culprit who's not afraid to pounce . . .

Gone, Kitty, Gone by Eileen Watkins is the fourth book in the cozy A Cat Groomer Mystery series. Each book in the series has it’s own murder to be solved so they could be read as a standalone if choosing to do so. There is however a bit of character development that carries over from book to book for the fans who have read the entire series.
This series if centered around Cassie McGlone who had moved to the picturesque town of Chadwick to give herself a fresh start after leaving a horrible relationship. Cassie had opened her own shop, Cassie’s Comfy Cats, a cat grooming and boarding specialty boutique and had begun making a name for herself in the small town both for her unique business and cat knowledge and for becoming the town sleuth when murders occur.
Now in Gone, Kitty, Gone Cassie is making plans to attend a cat expo being held near her small town where she will demonstrate cat grooming while her boyfriend had a booth to offer a program on cat care and health. However, once the expo is in full swing the lights go out and afterward a security guard is found in the stairwell, either the victim of a fall or foul play and the celebrity guest performer has her rare cat stolen.
A Cat Groomer Mystery series quickly became one that I really look forward to reading each book as they come along. The author has done a wonderful job with Cassie’s character and her knowledge of cats that even having owned cats my whole life I can still learn something new. There’s also always little reminders to bring a reader right back into the series without missing a beat and to keep a new reader on top of the character building. Wrap that up with a great mystery in each book and this is one I’d definitely recommend, especially to the kitty fans out there.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
Cassie, who runs a cat grooming and boarding business, is asked to bring her mobile grooming van to a charity cat show raising money for local rescue groups. The celebrity guest is a singer named Jaki who is a big cat lover. When her Scottish Fold cat Gordie is stolen, Cassie helps the police search for him. If you're a fan of cozy mysteries with cats and likable characters, give this one a try. Thanks to the publisher, and to Netgalley, for this ARC.
Cassie is asked to participate in a cat expo near her hometown of Chadwick, New Jersey--grooming shelter cats which will hopefully then be adopted by attendees of the event. Her veterinarian boyfriend Mark gives presentations as well. The promoter has secured the appearance of a teen actress/pop star Jacki, who will be bringing her constant companion--a purebred cat Gordie. But when the cat is stolen prior to the show and someone is murdered, Cassie feels compelled to help the young star find her beloved feline.
I've read the prior three books in the series and while some background is helpful, this can definitely be read as a standalone. The pace was a bit off at time and the mystery plot didn't grab me. What really kept my interest was my empathy for Jaki-- I wanted to continue reading in the hope that she is reunited with Gordie. I admired her determination and strength to stand up to her manager/father and entourage; they wanted to leave the area but she refused because she wanted to continue the search. Overall, a good read.
Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington for an ARC. My review is voluntary.
What a nail biting, holding your breath, on the edge of your seat reading material !! Gone, Kitty, Gone is the fourth book in Eileen Watkins Cat Groomer Mystery series and BOY,OH, BOY .... is it a GREAT book !!
One thing that makes it easier to read is that I am a cat lover. I, like main character Cassie McGlone, have three cats so reading a story with a cat theme is my kind of story. Although it makes it more enjoyable to read, part of the story line will complicate that.....but in a good kinda way.
In Gone, Kitty, Gone Cassie is going to a weekend long cat expo where she will be demonstrating how her grooming side of her business, Cassie's Comfy Cats, worked. And she also roped her boyfriend, Mark, into doing some demonstrations and having a table set up for his veterinary practice. Cassie's mother and her boyfriend will also be attending as Harry's cat will be in the competition. There is also going to be a celebrity singer there with her social media famous cat, Gordy. Jaki Natal grew up in the area so she was very cooperative in being at the event and doing a concert to raise money for the cats.
Unfortunately things go downhill pretty quick when Gordy is taken during a power outage and a security guard is found dead in a stairwell. Jaki heard how Cassie has helped the police in the past when they had animal involved crimes so she asks Cassie to help find her beloved cat. Of course Cassie had already been on alert and keeping an eye open but once she got "officially" asked to work the case, she goes above and beyond to look into things.....
Gone, Kitty, Gone is such a fun read !! I loved hanging out at the expo with Cassie and with the story being based around a cat expo really captivates the readers attention....even if you aren't a cat lover. One cannot help but love Cassie, her business, her relationships, the way she goes about her life and helping others. You just know that with Cassie on the case, it's going to be okay.....but the ride to get there will have the reader on the edge of their seat.......
And can I just say..... Don't you just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the kitty on the cover ??? OMG !!!
Gone, Kitty Gone by Eileen Watkins is the 4th instalment in A Cat Groomer Mystery series and the first book by this author I have read. I really enjoyed this story, and it has made me want to catch up on the series. I have since purchased the previous 3 books.
The mystery is interesting and well plotted, and I loved the characters which are well developed. I kept guessing and second-guessing myself on whodunnit right to the very end. I recommend this book to all my cozy lover friends.
I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from Kensington Books and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I just finished reading this book, and I have to say it was very entertaining. Cassie has a cat grooming/boarding shop, and now has a mobile grooming truck. When she’s asked to demonstrate her grooming abilities at a cat show, she has no idea that the fur is about to fly. When a cat goes missing, Cassie has no problem stepping feet first into the investigation, against the better judgment of her boyfriend . The investigation turns gruesome when two murders take place, and Cassie can’t help but wonder who will be next. I’m looking forward to reading the earlier books in the series.

Review:
This is a great book and series. It has everything that I look for in a cozy: fantastic characters, a homey setting and a puzzling mystery.
The characters are well rounded, well developed and three dimensional. Cassie is smart and caring and you can tell how much she loves animals. And you can tell she cares about people too, she was very compassionate with Jaki and her problems. I really appreciated how much she was willing to help her. I enjoyed getting to spend time with Cassie and her family and friends.
The writing style flows smoothly and it defines the characters very clearly by their actions and words. I enjoyed the fact that the majority of the book’s setting was at the cat show, it brought an extra level to my enjoyment. The mystery was carried on well throughout the book and it moved at a good pace. I really liked that it was not so much looking for a killer, it was trying to figure out the cat napping. I found that refreshing.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. If you are a cat lover, you really need to read this book (and series).
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher, Kensington Books, and NetGalley, which I greatly appreciate.
Princess Fuzzypants here: Thank Bast! I love this series for its highly intelligent heroine who is not only cat savvy but street savvy. Cassie is looking forward to showcasing her grooming skills and her new mobile van at a big cat show. The guest star of the event is a pop star who reminds me of Taylor Swift and a number of other teen icons. She is also the proud fur mom of an adorable Scottish Fold, Gordie, who is catnapped and held for a very personal ransom. Naturally she is devastated and enlists Cassie to help her find her baby. It ends up being a rather convoluted and twisty tale of unrequited love that turns violent. While she attempts to help while keeping her distance from danger, Cassie might be the third murder victim if she d0esn’t watch out. It is a highly entertaining story with lots of interesting facts woven into the tale. I found the information about Maine Coons very fascinating, for obvious reasons. This has become a series I always enjoy and look forward to each new adventure. Five purrs and two paws up.
GONE, KITTY, GONE by Eileen Watkins The Fourth Cat Groomer Mystery
The North Jersey Cat Expo is coming and Cassie McGlone is prepared to volunteer at the nearby event. A smooth talking promoter convinces her to become even more active, offering grooming demonstrations and showcasing her new mobile grooming van. The promoter is going all out by adding a pop star and her equally famous cat to the lineup. With Cassie's veterinarian boyfriend also coming to the event, what could go wrong?
A lot actually. Instead of murder being the prime mystery, the crime to be solved in the fourth Cat Groomer Mystery is kidnapping, or rather, catnapping. Sure enough the beloved Scottish Fold, Gordie, companion to the pop star, Jacki, goes missing during a disruption at the show. While the police are more concerned with a security guard found dead, Cassie is encouraged by the young singer to help find Gordie.
I like the fact that a purloined animal is the focus of the investigation. Was he taken by a fan, a stalker, animal protester, or someone else with an entirely different motive? I also appreciate that Cassie is an intelligent woman who keeps the police apprised of her actions, and what she finds. Of course, that doesn't always help keep her out of sticky situations, but she doesn't blindly rush in.
There are lots of red herrings, suspicious people, and lots of cats making the book even more enjoyable. I enjoy seeing relationships develop and an honest concern for animals depicted here.
GONE, KITTY, GONE is a catcentric mystery that should appeal to all. Intelligent writing, deft plotting, and likable characters make this book a best in show!
FTC Disclosure – The publisher sent me a copy of this book in the hopes I would review it.
Typical unlucky in love young woman returns to hometown to start her own business. At least it's not a bakeshop or tea shop. Where do these young women get all the money to start these businesses? Finds new boyfriend, gets involved solving a murder.
Of course, there's a BFF who owns yet another business! This one didn't have much to do with the story, though.
I figured out who did it early on; there just didn't seem to be any other role for that person in the story.
However, the writing was good, and the book held my attention, therefore 3 stars, actually 2.5.
At least this time, murdered humans were not the main focus of the plot. The openness and willingness of the police to include civilians in their investigations is unbelievable!
This is a delightful series that is pure catnip for cat lovers ! i loved this next in series. The author knows cats and writes so beautifully of cats and our love for them. I love that this next in series was set at a cat show ! I have attended many cat shows and the author deftly describes the atmosphere at a cat show and the many charcters one finds at such a show. . Gone, Kitty, Gone by Eileen Watkins is the fourth book in the cozy A Cat Groomer Mystery series. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. .My review opinion is my own. i HIGHLY recommend this series for your reading enjoyment.
In this next in series our favorite protagonist Cassie is asked to participate in a cat expo to groom shelter cats with her mobile grooming van. The expo is hoping to adopt out the cats that have been groomed. Cassie has a big heart for cats and wants to help as many get adopted as possible Her veterinarian boyfriend Mark will be attending as a presenter. Their relationship is a nice addition to the series .
The promoter of the expo is scheduling a appearance of a teen star Jacki, who will be bringing her beloved cat and companion Gordie. Gordie has a social media following and is famous as he is a adorable Scottish Fold. But when the cat is stolen prior to the show Jacki is distraught and Cassie steps up to help her find her companion cat. The author so well describes the anguish of a missing pet that as a reader you can feel the emotions of losing her cat Cassie has no idea where to start but she is skilled at getting people to talk and is good at finding clues. A murder occurs and then a second murder and Cassie fears another murder will occur is she does not find the right suspect. Cassie is fearless , savvy and smart as she goes about the show finding clues to solve the crimes and bring Gordie home.
I loved this next in series ! This was such a "Purrfectly" fun addition to this well loved series. I look forward to the next in series. This had all the elements of a fun cozy series that we cozy readers love. Great charcters, a fun setting, wonderful cats and a sleuth that kept me guessing to conclusion. Well done to the author !
Gone, Kitty, Gone is the 4th book in the Cat Groomer cozy series by Eileen Watkins. Due out 31st Dec 2019 from Kensington, it's 256 pages and will be available in paperback, audio, and ebook formats.
This is a fun and engaging cat cozy with cat-napping, murder, and protagonist Cassie taking her grooming services mobile to a big cat show in the area. The language is clean, the 'violence' is bloodless and off-scene. Cassie and her boyfriend, veterinarian Mark, have a sweet and slowly developing relationship over the course of the series. Despite being the 4th book in the series it works perfectly well as a standalone.
The plotting and story arc are well done and entertaining. I enjoyed the discussion of the different breeds in the book and especially loved the inclusion of Scottish fold Gordie and sphynx Looli (2 of my favorite breeds).
Entertaining and fun. Four stars.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
Cassie McGlone is on the move in Eileen Watkins’ newest in her Cat Groomer mystery series Gone, Kitty, Gone. Cassie has added a new mobile cat grooming truck to her services offered, and it’s coming in handy since she’s been requested to do a grooming demo at the local cat expo. Her veterinary boyfriend Mark will be presenting seminars on cat health and care at the same forum, and she’s looking forward to their participation.
In conjunction with the expo, there’ll be a cat show featuring pop star Jaki Natal and her famous Scottish Fold cat, Gordie. The organizers are counting on their appearance bringing in plenty of fans and getting lots of press for the symposium. Just when Jaki and Gordie are making their appearance, the lights go out…Gordie disappears and a security guard is found dead. With the police focused on the human death, it falls to Cassie and friends to help find Gordie. And to add to the pressure, Gordie has a health issue requiring special food.
Will Cassie find Gordie before it’s too late…or will she become the next victim?
Ms. Watkins provides a good share of red herrings and suspects to consider as you attempt to figure out if the crimes are linked, if someone from Jaki’s present or past is involved and if Cassie will win the game of cat-and-mouse with a calculating and dangerous opponent.
Cassie McGlone owns a successful cat grooming business in her small town of Chadwick, New Jersey and has just expanded with a mobile cat grooming service. She's approached to do a grooming demo at a cat expo at a hotel just outside of town and talks her boyfriend and vet into doing a talk on cat health. The highlight of the expo is a popular star named Jaki Natal and her cat, Gordie, a Scottish Fold. When Gordie is grabbed during a period of confusion when the lights went out while Jaki is giving an interview, Cassie is called into help. Since Jaki is also receiving disturbing messages, Cassie's degree in psychology just might come in handy. And two men are murdered during the case so Cassie must stay on her toes.
I have really enjoyed this series and this book is no exception. Cassie is a great sleuth and the other characters are wonderful. The book's well-written and is a great read. I was hooked from beginning to end. I'm looking forward to the next book. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order.
A new Cat Groomer mystery following last years Feral Attraction. This time Cassie McGlone is going to work the local cat show demonstrating the tricks of the trade. She will be joined by her friends from the animal rescue group and her boyfriend Mark the vet, who will also be talking at the show. In order to market the show, the organizers persuaded a young multi-talented performer to do a live Q&A and perform at the cat show. Jaki is a young superstar that also has a unique cat, a Scottish Fold named Gordie.
During the Q&A session, the lights go off and the Gordie is catnapped. What follows is an engaging mystery that had me guessing until near the end. I really enjoyed the interaction between Cassie and Mark and look forward to advancing their relationship in future books.
Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for this ARC.
The cover of this mystery with the sad faced Scottish fold may have enticed you to pick up this novel, but the well-written and intriguing mystery will keep you reading it. Cassie, cat groomer, is asked to be part of a cat expo, demonstrating her grooming techniques. The highlight of show is a pop diva who volunteered to do a concert to help raise money for shelter cats. When her own cat, a Scottish fold who is usually by her side is cat-napped through a series of weird events, the distraught singer seeks help, and Cassie jumps into the investigation, with the blessing of the owner as well as the police detective in charge of the case. There’s a suspicious death, and more unexplained goings-on, and Cassie is likely to find danger lurking around the corner instead of the missing cat. It’s another great tale from this author, with likable and well-developed characters in an entertaining and exciting story.
Cat groomer Cassie thinks she’s just volunteering her time at a local cat show. But when an employee is murdered and a celebrity’s cat is kidnapped, she’s pressed into service to help solve the crime.
I enjoy the steadiness of this series. The characters are all mature adults and there’s no needless drama or misconstrued situations between them. The murder and catnapping was well written, and there was a good selection of likely suspects. I’m pleased that I was able to nab the murderer before Cassie figured it out, though.
The only thing I didn’t like was that on two occasions, when Cassie is finished her demonstration in her mobile grooming van, she locks the cat in the van so that she can go into the venue. Of course, an animal should NEVER be left in a locked vehicle no matter what the temperature is. I’m surprised that not only the writer included this but that it got past the editors.
"Gone, Kitty, Gone" is a cat-themed cozy mystery. It's the fourth book in a series. You don't need to read the previous books to understand this story, and this book didn't spoil the previous ones.
This was more of a suspense than a clue-based puzzle mystery. Cassie and her friends mainly stayed on the lookout for the missing cat and asked some questions that helped the owner remember who might steal her cat. The friendly detective did most of the actual investigating of leads, though Cassie did end up being critical to discovering whodunit and the cat. Cassie and her friends were nice people who cared about others.
There were no sex scenes. There was occasional use of bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable cat-related mystery.
I received an ebook review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.
Any cozy mystery with a cat on the cover gets my attention. With this, the fourth in the series, I enjoyed another well crafted mystery. The cat featured in this puzzle is a Scottish Fold named Gordie and he's missing. Cassie has come to the cat expo to show off her new mobile cat grooming services, not to track down a missing cat and a killer. The police are focused on the human killer and Cassie knows that her talents will help find the cat. Between the two of them, the pieces all come together. The mystery was complex enough to keep me guessing and I didn't guess right. It was a nice light read and would work fine as a stand alone. I'll definitely read more in this series. My thanks to the publisher Kensington and to NetGalley for giving me an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
I am a cat person so that is the main reason I was drawn to this book. It has lots of cats! It takes place during a cat show/exposition. Cassie has been invited to bring her cat grooming van to the show to give demos. It is a great opportunity for her to get exposure. While she is there she gets caught up in some hijinks involving the disappearance of a singer's cat and the possible murder/accident of a security guard. Cassie's mom and her new boyfriend are also present since he is showing his Sphynx cat at the show. The book keeps moving with things happening constantly that keep your attention. Cassie of course finds the kidnapped cat and figures out the culprit before anyone else. It is entertaining the read about the activities at the cat exposition.
This was another fun read from Eileen Watkins. I so enjoy Cassie's character, her spunk and determination.
This time Cassie is working at a cat expo in a nearby town giving grooming demonstrations. The expo's celebrity guest is a famous cat lover whose own cat has a strong social media presence. When the cat is suddenly cat-napped, Cassie is on the case to try and track down the kidnapper.
I like these because they are truly a book you can escape into and I often learn a little something about cats I did not know before. I think the plots are well thought out and I thought this one was fairly perplexing, although I had an inkling of whodunit. However, when it was tied together at the end, I was truly impressed with the plot.
I had a hard time getting into this book. I don't know it it's the book or me but it seemed to take a long time to get to the mystery part of the story line and there was a lot of just talking going on that didn't really seem to move the plot along. I did enjoy it once I got into the book. I liked that it was at a cat expo and really liked the demos that they did for the grooming and the shelter. I think that there could have been more about the murder then all the talk that was done with the cat's owner Jaki. The ending was good, it was definitely a surprise who the bad guy was. #GoneKittyGone #NetGalley
Have not read previous books in this series, but thought this one was worthwhile. Did not care much for the beginning, but it quickly evolved into an interesting cozy mystery. Cassie seemed lucky in finding clues regarding the missing kitty, but the author can do whatever she wants. Would not have minded more about the handsome boyfriend, but he will probably show up again. The business about her mother and her new significant other was cute, especially the Spyhinx (sp?) cat who won awards. Loved the cover -- don't know that I've ever seen a Scottish Fold in real life, but perhaps at cat shows. Anyway, it held my interest to the end, so there you are!!!!
