Dot Com Wolves #1

Claiming Mia

Rate this book
LUCAS
I’m a mess. Broken. Lost my mate and almost myself. In no shape to help anyone.

Then the sexy girl serving me drinks stumbles into trouble with a bunch of wolves who are bad business—I should know. They’re the competition. And they’re as dirty at dot-com investing as they are predatory on young things like her. So I save her. Because I may be broken, but I’m not an ass.

Only she shows up the next day at my office. As my intern.

And now the Red pack is after her, putting us square in a pack war—one she doesn’t even understand. I’m in no shape to claim a mate—not happening—but if I don’t, the Red’s jackass of an alpha will.

MIA
I’m just trying to earn my degree and dig my way out of poverty.

I was born a shifter—more of my bad luck—but I’ve kept that a secret, so it doesn’t ruin my life. Shifters are monsters. Criminals. And I’m trying to make something of myself. This internship at the hottest internet business development firm in Seattle is my ticket out… only the boss is a wolf. And insanely hot. And he saved my life.

I’d break all the rules for this guy—except he wants nothing to do with me.

The wolves who do are the Big Bad Wolf kind. The kind I’ve always heard about.

I’ve got nowhere to turn… but to the one guy who doesn’t want me at all.

Claiming Mia (Dot Com Wolves 1) is a super-hot complete story with HEA.

my Desired (True Alpha 1) review
"I thought this wasn't a good idea," she said, breathless, hoping he wasn't suddenly changing his mind.

"I'm tired of trying to resist you."

my Guarded (True Alpha 2) review
If she was on Facebook, their relationship status would definitely be it's complicated.

my Hunted (True Alpha 3) review
"I promise not to try to jump your insanely gorgeous body anymore." That drew him back. A smile seemed to be fighting it's way onto his face. "Well , you know...unless you as me to. Very nicely. Roses would be good."

"Alphas don't get what they deserve - they get what they earn."

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley for an honest review.

Overall, I enjoyed this serial for it's original elements and for the depth given to Lucas' past. The premise was good, and but for a few elements it was a good story. The steamy moments were nice and steamy too. I like that it wasn't cookie cutter that one can expect from many shifter stories. Now for the not so great. For some reason, I was not sold on Mia's personality. I never felt as though her actions and personality held up to the story being told. Also, the antagonist's actions didn't make sense until late to midway through the story.

I definitely think that the boxed set is worth reading. If you stick with it, you become more invested in the characters and what happens to them.
First impressions per volume (NO SPOILERS):

Vol 1: Claimed 3 stars
Steamy lead-check. Quirky bff-check. Awkward and a bit clueless but sexyish heroine with a secret - double check. But my first impressions were shifter story with a dash of 50 shades of grey storyline, minus the pseudo-bdsm. Mia is a bit less awkward/annoying/ innocent than Anastasia, and Lucas is much more heroic and principled than Christian Grey. But he's also a millionaire with a darkish past. Past the 50 shades similarities, there is definitely a story there. But then I was never sold on the reasons the Red pack went after her, nor was I sold on why they just kept coming. This continues on through the series.

Vol 2: Guarded 2 stars
A lot more explanation here, a bit of an info dump to be honest. Also, there is another supernatural element introduced without much backstory.

Vol 3: Hunted 3 stars
We get more info on the wolves and shifter abilities, which is great. More of a story here between the two mains, and more of a reason for them to even like each other. I like that there is more character building and relationship building here. Also, we finally hear from (for the first and last time) from Mia's mom, who is allegedly her reason for working so hard and whose life she wants to improve. Also, it's hard to believe that her mom doesn't know she's a shifter, when she's been shifting her entire life. Also, the idea of her father, who apparently granted her shifter heritage, is a massive missed opportunity for depth to her story. Also, in this volume she has a brief mishap that is a bit of a throw away as well.

Vol 4: Captured 4 stars
we finally see a reason for some things. Honestly, I enjoyed this volume more than the others. There is a bit of danger, more backstory, and more depth introduced into the other side. Mia finally seems to gain more personality, but it almost seems out of character when compared to the other volumes. If this was the person I saw from the beginning, I would have liked her much more.

Vol 5: Sacrificed 3.5/4 stars
Several "huh?" moments. Some things were introduced that definitely came from nowhere, and they would've been welcome earlier on. I definitely want to learn more about several characters that popped out of nowhere in this volume. In fact, the characters introduced here sound like the more interesting group. The injuries dealt to the "hero" group were not understandable at all. I thought they were the stronger group but they're washed up in this one. Mia's inability to leave *Evil Red* is a confused jumble that I needed to read a couple of times to understand what was happening

Vol 6: Claimed 2 stars
And that's all she wrote. A bit anti-climactic but overall a good story.

Lucas was a mess ever since his mate died, he'd even left his father's pack but still helped out with the business. But when he saw Mia in trouble he had to help her. But doing so made the wolves from the red pack think that they could hurt him by hurting Mia.

Mia lived in a dorm with her roommate and worked at a bar. All that changed when three wolves from the red pack had come at her and tried attacking her. The only reason she got out unscathed was because Lucas had stepped in.

Lucas couldn't stop thinking about Mia after he saved her and was very surprised when she showed up at his business as the new intern. But now that she was here he knew that he had to keep her safe. She didn't take the danger seriously until the wolves came after her a second time. Lucas took her to his home to keep her safe and when they couldn't keep their hands off of each other it looked like things would change for the better for both of them until Lucas learned her secret...she was also a shifter and kept it a secret from everyone because she didn't have a pack.

Once he knows what she is, he let's her know that they have to keep their hands off each other because he doesn't want another mate since he blames himself for his mates death. But when an alpha from a rival pack kidnaps Mia, all bets are off because now Lucas wants her and nothing is going to stop him.

Holy shifters, Batman! This was one hot read with some really great characters. So much more happens and it had me on the edge of my seat to see what would happen next.

QUICK OVERVIEW
Light erotic/hot-hot paranormal romance with werewolves. Solid story with broken alpha and a confused female who had grown up as a werewolf (starting age 13) but not in a pack so doesn't know the mating rules. Co-equal with the romance is a woman-in-peril story with another pack out to get Mia.

REVIEW
So many things that rub me wrong on a personal level. Technically the story is fine - well written, moves forward, well-developed characters.

A decent read..

I got this first book in November 2014 but just couldn’t see myself being that interested in a serial so I didn’t go on. Then yesterday I found this again so I decided to give it a try, and reread the first one again and now I’m on the second one. And I’m really enjoying them.

One reviewer said this, “Poorly written. It's like a paranormal version of 50 shades. As if 50 shades wasn't bad enough.” LMAO. This reviewer was soooo wrong. I don’t even know how she could have said that. Yeah, there was an explicit sex scene but it was no different than any other romance with a sex scene. No, whips, chains, BDSM, just sex. Really unbelievable!

Now, back to the book. If there’s one thing I detest it’s an author who has a MAN biting his lip. It’s bad enough when a woman does it all the time but for a man it’s totally ridiculous, AND so very feminine. Every time I picture that I just want to barf. AND I also wonder why authors have their heroes say stupid things like, “I killed my mate,” when we all know that that’s not true. Geez!

I liked Lucas and Mia, and their sexual attraction is nice but not overwhelming. However, the sex was nice, until Lucas found out she was a shifter, when she raked her claws down his back. Yeah, he was a little ticked off that she’d been hiding that from him.

In the third book I wasn’t crazy about Mia’s attraction to Colin. It would have been ok if she’d been away from Lucas for a while and was trying to get over him but he was just in the other office while Mia was drooling over Colin. I was tempted to stop reading I was so disgusted with her thoughts and feelings. Kind of slutty, if you ask me.

As of part 5 I really had begun to dislike Mia even more. So, I’m glad I only have one more part to go. I mean, after the battle she’s walking through the woods, while Lucas is wounded and being carried, and she holding hands with Colin and he’s making it so obvious that he’s lusting after her and she’s acting like a slut again. I decided that no matter how it turned out I’d be wishing Lucas had found a better mate, OR I wish the author would have written it better. It was like half the book was a love triangle and I hate those kinds of books. It makes me afraid to read the Dark Alpha for fear it’ll have another triangle in it. (I did read all 4 of the Wilding Pack Wolves books and really liked them.)

Part 6 was the shortest read because I skimmed most of it, since it was mostly sex. Mostly it was a good story but it could have been more story and a little less sex.

There was a little swearing and the F-bomb was used 3 or 4 times.

This book bundle is an excellent buy. Six well written books filled with alpha males. This bundle is a fun, romantic, sexy read about shifters & Witches . I’m looking forward to reading more of Alisa Woods’ books. My next read from this Author is the Dark Alpha Series

This was a fast moving story from the time Lucas saves Kia from the r ed pack wolves at her part time job to when he finds she is a intern at his father's company new age analytical company. Mia is a wolf an this is what pack is. She never new. Her mother knows of them yet doesn't know she apart of them. As things heat up with another company of wolves Mia finds theirs good and bad no matter what you are. The sex scenes are HOT and steamy and I realize the whole point of the book is Lucas learning to forgive himself and finding his Alpha self, but I wanted more Alphaness more often

OMG I absolutely loved Mia and her roommate Jupiter! They are hilarious together. Jupiter is funny and quite quirky with her sense of style. Mia is a very hard worker who is working hard to finish school, work, and try to get her mom out of the crime ridden area she lives in. Mia has to do all this while hiding the fact that she is a shifter. Enter Lucas a man who saves her in a dark alley. Mia ends up being an intern at his family business. Mia is wanted by the red pack which Lucas wont allow. This would be a very simple solution of claiming her if he wasnt still torn about losing his first mate.

I really wanted to like this book, but it annoyed me to my fucking soul pretty much from the start. I'm not one to give up easily so I soldiered on to my fucking utter regret. No offence to the author, I'm sure a lot of people have enjoyed this book, I on the other hand did not.
Lucas is a pussy.
Mia, for fuck sake, I cant even with her. Literally rolled my eyes into my head with this girl, and yes I say girl cause she sure as shit was no woman.
Out of all the shifter romances I've read this annoyed and bored me at the same time.
I just couldn't finish it.

Mia is about to start her new job as an intern but she shadows with a job bartending in a place that is filled with shifters. Mia is a shifter but it has kept it hidden. When Mia gets in a bit of trouble she finds herself being protected by Lucas. Not in her wildest dreams did she think Lucas would be her new boss. The chemistry is there but Lucas wont claim Mia after losing his mate. He is down on himself and can't seem to get out of his own head, but a threat still surrounds Mia and Lucas finds he wants to be the only one to protect her and perhaps claim her.

I liked this but I did find that Lucas drained me a bit. I had a hard time wondering why Mia would still want him when he was a jerk most of the time. Once he does redeem himself it all falls into place though. Good start to a new series..

Claiming Mia is a much better book than its cheesy cover suggests. Come on authors - we've all seen a man's abs. It's not that exciting. Try and come up with something that actually represents the contents of the book, ok?

I enjoyed the story - it's smutty, of course, but also affectionate and the relationships between the wolves are quite touching. There are some decent secondary characters too and I'd hope some of them might show up in other books by the author.

I can't quite stretch my rating to four stars, though, for a couple of reasons:
1. I like stories where the women save themselves - or try to at least. There's none of that here. It's very damsel-in-distress-y.
2. This whole fixation on wealth. Like another of Woods' books, Kiss of a Dragon, the amount of money they have is largely irrelevant to the story, so why insist on making them rich? It's like you're insisting that everyone who reads your books is a gold digger.

I had a lot of fun reading Claiming Mia by Alisa Woods. The book was well-written, fast-paced, and easy to sink into. I was captivated by Mia’s personality – she was a go-getter and knew what she wanted in her life and from those around her.

The romance between Lucas and Mia was fraught with complications and insecurities, but was also tantalizingly steamy, and at times, heart-wrenchingly sweet. The characters were well fleshed out and voiced in a way that made them easily distinguishable.

Probably my only qualm is how wishy-washy Lucas was about their relationship. Don’t get me wrong, I understood his hesitation, but at the same time, in her shoes, I would have gone for Colin.

Either way, I enjoyed the story and it’s world-building, and if you enjoy paranormal romance, you will most likely enjoy this. It may also appeal to romance readers that usually stick with contemporary billionaire romances, as the plot was of a similar vein. If that is more to your tastes, you may enjoy this foray into another popular genre.

This was a good book. I love wolf shifters and fated mates. The writing was good. And I especially love Colin, Mia’s other suitor. (I hope he gets his own book). There was plenty of action and a good amount of heat. The only thing I didn’t particularly care for was Lucas’ hot/cold treatment. It’s not a good look on any man and it’s especially taboo for an alpha. Personally, I think Mia should have chosen Colin. He’s a real man who knows what he wants and goes after it with no hesitation. Even Mace (the bad guy) was almost a better love interest.

But I still liked the story. 3.5 stars

True Alpha: The Complete Box Set is one story set across six short parts.

The setting is Seattle and features shifters in the form of wolves. Mia is a young student who hides her shifter side. Lucas is the son of a pack leader. He has been in a dark place since he lost his mate. But one evening he protects a girl from three dark wolves, and his life has a sudden change of direction.

Sexy men and a hot romance await readers in between the pages of this book.

I truely enjoyed this book. Lucas is an alpha with a past that has left him deeply scared and it is only when he meets Mia that he gets the chance at a future. There is so much depth to the emotions of both Lucas and Mia that you just have to keep reading. You can't help but love Lev and even Collin is really a sweetie. Jupiter is a great best friend to Mia.

True Alpha 1-6

Desired

Desired is a wonderful book it grabs your attention from the beginning. It's a fast read that you do not want to put down. Mia is in college student trying to make a better life for herself and her mother. Mia does not want anyone to know she's a shifter. One night at works she goes outside to get a little fresh air when 3 red wolves follow her outside. At first she didn't think anything of it but when that start coming toward her that's when she realize she's in a bad situation. That's when she meets Lucas and he protects her from them.
Lucas lost his mate and he's trying to keep the darkness at bay when he meets Mia and he can't keep his self from following her with his eyes. He watches her go out of the side door and he decides to follow her after he watches the red follow her and feels the need to protect her. He fights his attraction for Mia because she is human. There's a big cliffhanger and I can't wait to read the next book!!!

Guarded

Omg!!! What can I say I'm so captivated by these books that I can't wait until the next one comes out!!! Lucas is so determined to not get involved with Mia that he tries to push her away. He thinks Mia has a better chance to find someone who can love and protect her better than he can.
All Mia wants is Lucas even though he is still caring around the of his deceased mate that he could not protect. Mia is going to keep perusing him until he gives in to her and she's hoping it's soon.

Hunted

Mia is trying to put Lucas's needs before hers so she can help him heal. The more they are around each other the harder it is for both of them. When Mia tell Lucas she wants him to claim and he tells Mia that she deserves an Alpha that is not broken she runs back to her best friend Jupiter to lean on. When she gets there Jupiter is not there and she does not think anything about it until she notices her purse there. Now she needs to figure out what happen to Jupiter. This is getting very exciting can't wait to read part 4. I want to know what happens!!!

Captured

OMG!!! This book is the best so far!!! Mia is a strong alpha female that is determined to escape the clutches of Mase and get Jeeter to safety as well. Mase is trying to get Mia to submit to him so he can claim her and add to his harem. Mase is a piece of work and I'm hoping Lucas will hurry up and claim his mate soon!!!
Lucas wants to hurry up and get Mia back ASAP. His father want to wait until sun down to go in. He is making his self crazy thinking what Mase could be doing to her. Lucas realizes he is getting a second chance in love and he keeps messing it up. I can't wait until part 5 comes out it's going to drive me crazy just waiting!!!!

Sacrificed

My heart stopped several times reading this book I can't believe all the suspense that it is bringing me right at the moment!!! I want to find out what happens it killing me now!!! I can't believe Jak was willing to help Mia and Jeeter but I understand the reasoning behind it though. He gets them out and tell to follow the navigation he programmed in there for them to get to the fence and wait for him to text. Then further down Lucas and his fathers and brothers pack is working on turning the fences power off. It's so mind wrenches to wait to see what happens. There so much that happens in this one I did not know what was going to happen next.

Claimed

This is a great ending to Lucas and Mia's story!!! I have to say it I wasn't sure how their story was going to end but I love the way Alisa Woods ended it!!! I enjoyed every bit of their adventure together throughout their story!!!
Lucius was injuries in segment 5 and Mia was worried that he would not make it. A few tiger shifters helped them get to safety so the healer could take care of the injure ones (Lucas, his brother and father). Mia wanted to go with Lucas and take care of him but Collin said that he was staying with her and Jeeterat the hotel so he could protect her if something happens. Mia is torn between Lucas not wanting to mate with her and Collin ready to mate with her. Will she go for love that doesn't want her or someone that could love her?

I have often spoken in my reviews of my deep hatred of Twilight and its ilk. I was concerned that Claiming Mia (Dot Com Wolves 1) was either Twilight fan-fic, or something similar. Still, I received Claiming Mia for free in exchange for a review so holding my nose I plunged into the book.

I found Claiming Mia contains excellent dialogue, well developed characters and excellent scene description. Wood’s technical skills are excellent she writes smoothly. The fighting and gun play was kept fairly generic and brief so the author avoided weapon pitfalls so prevalent in this genre.

My favorite character is Mia’s roommate Jupiter. I hope that in future books Jupiter finds her HEA as Mia did.

Knowing that Claiming Mia was going to be a trope leaden read I did so with a strong suspension of belief. The first book in what the author obviously intends as a series Claiming Mia leaves the door open for other erotic paranormal fantasy romances.

Sex is frequent graphically described not safe and hot. Wood’s sexual scenes are some of the best erotic reading I have had recently. All sex is hetero with not even a hint of anything else. Since Claiming Mia is an erotic paranormal romantic fantasy, safe sex is not practiced and is explained away as unnecessary for the werewolves as they can’t catch diseases from humans. Female werewolves can only get pregnant when in heat. Conveniently, Mia is not in heat so she gets frequently screwed in a good way for a woman.

I would have never touched Claiming Mia had I not received it for free. I am unlikely to read anything else by this author unless I receive it for free again.

I just couldn't! It was horribly written and there were no errors but good lord this book just went on and on. At 45% I just couldn't take anymore and I love the paranormal genre. Too much repitition on every single thing that's already established. I skipped pages and still was able to continue without losing any detail. The author could have cut the book in half and it would have been good. Will not be looking into anymore from this author

Mia is a Shifter who was raised by her human mother. She has hidden her wolf side from everyone. She's in college working her way through school at a bar where shifters congregate. They all believe she is human. On one evening she needs a break and goes out into the alley to catch some air. 3 male wolves follow her out to have some indecent fun with the human. Another shifter had been sitting at the bar and watched the 3 follow the human out. He knows he should stay out of it, but 3 strong male wolves against a small human female just offends him. He breaks up the fun by shifting and getting them to submit and leave. Lucas tells Mia she has to find a new job because they will be back for her. She starts sending out resumes and looking for a new job and an internship. She gets hired as an intern by Lucas's fathers software firm. The 3 wolves who attacked her belong to a rival pack and rival software firm. Lucas is drawn to Mia, but he is broken. He lost his mate. He fell apart and also lost the Pack he was the Alpha of. His dad is an Alpha, but Lucas is not a member of his Pack. He is rogue. Lucas feels compelled to protect Mia and can't stop from making love to her. He learns she is Wolf Shifter who knows nothing about Wolf Culture. Colin, a Beta hoping to start his own pack soon, wants Mia as his mate. She is an Alpha Female and together they could have a strong pack and very strong offspring. The Red Pack is where the 3 evil wolves belong. One of the 3 is high up in the Pack. He has several mates and is determined to have Mia join his harem, whether she wants to or not. She needs a strong male shifter to mate with her to protect her from the Red Pack. Lucas believes he is too broken to mate again. Will she choose Colin, or another for protection. She loves Lucas, but she must find protection.

I received this book as an ARC from Net Galley for my honest review. I simply love everything that is Alisa Woods.

I was introduced to Woods with True Alpha book 1, after I completed that book I was on the look out for anything else she wrote. I then received a copy of Alpha Christmas which I loved and then read the Dark Alpha series. Finally I got the whole set for True Alpha Vol 1-6. I say all of this to say that these books can be read out of order and you will still fall in love with every word on the page.

There is something about the way that Alisa writes that at the end of the book, whether it is a cliff hanger or a full novel,I have a huge smile on my face. This box set did not fail to impress, it was everything I expected and so much more.

Mia is a college student working hard to pay her way through college. one night she gets cornered by a pack of wolf shifters and Lucas can't help but step up and protect her

Lucas is a lone wolf struggling with the loss of his mate. When he sees that Mia needs help he uses every thing and everyone to keep her safe.

Lucas and Mia are fighting to find themselves in a world full of dominate shifters. Can they continue to keep each other safe while fighting the literal animal attraction they have for each other? Read and find out!

This complete box-set is AMAZING! If you like paranormal romance and fast paced story.... Well look no further as this series is just that!
I personally prefer to read this as a box-set as I couldn't put it down *swoon*

This is about wolves in Seattle, hot billionaire alpha males.... We meet Lucas who is a broken alpha, a wolf who sadly lost his mate, his pack and almost himself.
He wasn't looking to rescue a girl or start a pack war...
Mia is a college girl that he rescues... she is trying to earn her degree & dig out of the poverty she was born into... being a shifter is something she hides, hoping her secret won't sabotage her dreams.

Seriously if you like that kind of story, I highly recommend you to read this series and meet this gorgeous couple.

This book was provided from NetGallery for my honest review.

I thought shifter romances were supposed to be sweet?! Anyway the love interest had lost his soulmate and is nowhere ready to date ( mate) again but he knows he's attracted to Mia, the protagonist and sleeps with her. She falls in love so quickly. Like girl you don't even know anything about him except his tragic past.
There was Colin, an amazing guy, who's not broken, treats her right and even understands consent but she refuses him but telling him she loves the love interest. I love Colin.
Mia had nothing going on for her and she was quite dull and uninteresting. This book was not for me.

I downloaded True Alpha (installments 1-6) as a free book from Amazon. This is a book I would have hated in installments, but as a collection, it was a wonderful read. Excellent characters, both primary and secondary, make this storyline work. The plot is somewhat cliched, yet the interactions and foibles of the protagonists and villains kept this book moving at a satisfactory pace. Would love to have seen Colin get the girl, but maybe that will be the subject of another story.
