Fatal Consequences #1 - Hmmm, what to say. The beginning of the book is hard to get into and through, but then the story picks up and there are parts that are extremely good. Keeping track of the many characters can be difficult when not reading the story continuously, but everyone has a part in the puzzle.

Sometimes the scenes or characters or dialog are simplistic or unrealistic, but then something or someone makes up for it and keeps you reading. The locations are global; the characters varied and the plot interesting.

The Italian is easy to figure out if you pay attention to what is happening. I didn't appreciate the vulgar language, but I guess it's part of the stereotyping of several of the characters: Italian, Mafiaoso; Serbian, thug. I contacted the author to read Fatal after I found the next book of the series on AXP. Well edited. 4*

Bay of Killers #2 - I started on this book right after finishing Fatal Consequences. Better than FC, but still with stereotypes and a poor example of an FBI agent - totally unrealistic and unprofessional even if he's outside the US - stereotype of an American thug, actually. There's a return of several of the previous characters and the location is in Italy. This story is fast paced and interesting.

It's funny seeing Brit speak used by American characters, and the one common American line is incorrect. The dialog has improved, but bits and bobs are off. If the first two books of the series is any indication, the author will be improving with experience. This time, the Italian is translated, but it's basic Italian, easy to understand. Well edited this time. I'm interested in reading of Mr. Sinclair's work. I found this book on AXP. 4*

Paul Sinclair is a brave man. His debut thriller spans half a decade, jets us between continents on first class tickets and puts us in the driving seat as we roar between Monaco, Italy and Luxembourg in super cars bought on ill-gotten gains. In short he’s written the sort of novel that I would be terrified to begin and has executed it with the suave assurance of a man who treats the helicopter ride into Monte Carlo as the glorified taxi journey it really is.
It’s not easy to stretch characters believably across a canvas of this size but he manages it. The gilt edged pass he provides the reader gives us access to a world of executive luxury and elite shady dealings that reminds me of reading Ian Fleming, while his appetite for action and eye for street details and the nuance of place harks of Fredrick Forsyth. If this is your cup of tea, or shamelessly overpriced cocktail, then sit back and close the window of your Chelsea Harbour penthouse and have a read of Fatal Consequences. But remember to keep your passport in your back pocket, you’ll need it.

This story started out as a banker's wife is stabbed outside of their home. As her medical bills pile up, PJ gets in touch with his wife's Italian cousin for a loan to pay the bills. He also knows of some hidden accounts that his now, deceased boss stole from some bank customers and he disappears with that knowledge and starts his life over again. But not all is well, even though he changed his name, he has Federal Agents after him and Marco, his wife's cousin. Things get really complicated and things go wrong on all counts. The story is good, but with some of the Italian words in it, it was hard to follow if you don't speak or read Italian. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

This is what I would call an ensemble story. It is not really about one person or one story line. I found it hard to keep things straight as the narrative jumped from one character to another. At one point I was ready to quit reading, but I am glad I persevered. The many characters seemed to be stereotypes of specific kinds of people. The relationships portrayed were somewhat simplistic. The book contains much information and is well worth reading. I am going to read the next in this series to see how it plays out.

I read this book and found that you really have to pay attention to the characters because they are numerous. They do fit together neatly into the book, but be sure and keep your memory working early so that you can follow the story line. The story will have you hopping around the globe for the different scenes and I think adds to the overall enjoyment of the book

Fatal Consequences is a truly original, twisting story, expertly delivered - that had me gripped and guessing. It also features a wide, engaging cast of unique characters wrapped up in truly wild circumstances, and thrilled me right to the finish.

A fantastic page turner. At first I wondered about the characters, then as the story unfolded, I was very intrigued. I needed, yes needed, to continue reading to find out what happened next. Even though I received this book as a gift arc), I am so happy to voluntarily offer this review.

A thrilling read

Twists and turns there are, an amazing book! If you enjoy the glitterati, Mafia, and all encapsulated in the world of cheating, lying with hugely high stakes to pay if you fail, this book is definitely for you!

Quite a good story but also slightly difficult to read as the story jumps from one event to another and characters names are changed. Overall though I did enjoy it and will read more of this authors works.

I truly enjoyed this book. You need to keep yourself focused on the story and characters to follow the plot, but that's one of the things which I savoured the most. With a twisting storyline, an international setting, and truly intriguing characters, this is a book that I would whole-heartily recommend to any lover of thrillers.
