The Marvel cosmic saga continues

I promise it didn’t take 16 days to read this book. 😂 Just been following the reading order for this cosmic saga. For the War of Realms prelude, it had me jumping around from trade to trade.

Anyway, really enjoyed this book. After reading these two complete collections, I really like the character Nova. Like vol one, this book is filled with all kinds of cosmic threats. He loses his Nova status for a bit, his brother becomes a Nova centurion, Ego the living planet shows up, there’s a Secret Invasion tie in, Worldmind goes on the fritz, new Centurions show up and the Fault is spewing monsters from other dimensions. A lot of fun and a lot of action. I was definitely entertained reading this. Of course it ends on a cliff hanger so this cosmic saga continues in Thanos Imperative I’m assuming. Anyhoo, the saga goes on!!

This completes the run on Nova from Abnett and Lanning.

I enjoyed this run despite some hiccups. I think Nova is dragged FAR too much into other events and stories. He barely has his own before dragged into the next major event. Sometimes within 3 issues of the last event. I also think that Abnett and Lanning went kind of lazy on the exist here with the whole what if storylines. They can work if you feel you resonate enough with the what if world, but I did not.

Saying that the rest I really enjoyed. Nova becoming a leader, dealing with his family issues, his brother, his new found nova corp, new worldmind, and letting go of the past but keep on moving forward were all well shown here. The fights were fun, the heroic moments badass.

So overall worth a read despite a few issues.

I recently interviewed the writer Dan Abnett and it was fucking awesome! Check out part 1 here https://youtu.be/vWI5mkTn8Ws and part 2 here https://youtu.be/A_VQ0ieJvhg

I wrote a song, and it goes like this;

🎼 Nova rules, Nova rules, Nova freakin rules so haaaaaard!🎶🎵

Seriously though, this is some epic, fast paced, exciting cosmic shit.

Disclaimer; it’s intimately tied in with Guardians, War of Kings, Realm of Kings and Thanos Imperative.

But ya know what? Even with the tie in stories, it holds up pretty well on it’s own. Richard Rider is an amazing charactee. The drama involving Ego/Worldmind is super (errrr Ultra) riveting and fun. All of the supporting characters are a blast. This really is the shit.

The art is exactly what it needs to be; fiery, swirly cosmic shit combined with clear and well paced action.

I wish it was longer. I’m going to need way more Nova in my life after this.
