Is it possible to fall in love with someone even when you’re already in love with them? Because I'm pretty sure I just did.

I remember ugly crying in both the book #1 and #2 but in this I sighed, I smiled and I swooned. This story felt short, giving absolute resolution for Callie & Kayden, mostly reliving their journey and bonding with family. Even if this story contained 10 pages I’d still rate it 5 stars, that’s how much I love them. Right for beginning I had this strong connection with them, their gut wrenching emotional torment and heart warming love will forever stay with me.

description

They have come a long way from their past. Callie once was timid and shy has grown to love and accept her new life with Kayden. She’s kind, patience and backbone to their relationship, always the optimist who is healing as well. But Kayden on other hand is still struggling to let go demons of his past, enduring lifelong physical and mental abuse has made him incapable of feeling right kind of emotions. With the help from the loved one’s he’s finally able to have closure and bid goodbye to his abusive father and set his path towards ever glowing future with Callie.

There is one person who always gets me through my despair...Callie Lawrence.
She's the best thing that's ever happened to me-my ray of sunshine through the rain, the clouds, the storm that hovers over my head. She can make me smile when I'm down, laugh when I'm unhappy. She's the one person who has ever loved me and who I completely and wholly love back in a way I can barely understand sometimes because I honestly thought I could never love anyone like the way I love her.

Jessica Sorensen’s writing has always been heartfelt. Even with 170 pages she is able to deliver a great story of love, passion, acceptance and survival. Giving the message that you don’t have to be perfect to love or to be loved by someone, though you are broken with enough love and trust you will be healed. Even on your bad days with right person beside you to lean on you could find your happiness, your happily after.

The Resolution of Callie and Kayden is book #6 in The Coincidence series by Jessica Sorensen. Even though this series has six books so far, three of them are on Callie and Kayden and three of them on Violet and Luke. But, Callie and Kayden is who the series started with, who I first fell in love with, these two broken but oh so strong young people.

 photo tumblr_n0aqzzOEVy1tryedao1_500_zps10ea5e7e.gif

They have been through so much in the year they have been together. Callie and Kayden are not who they were, though, when they first met. They still have their days, their skeletons that rattle around in the closet at times. But they have overcome the worst of it, simply by having each other.

They are Sophomores now at the University of Wyoming. Callie is in a great place, both mentally and physically. She has let go of the pain of her past and instead chooses to concentrate on the here and now, and how happy she is with Kayden.

“I have what I want every single day.”
“Is it possible to fall in love with someone even when you’re already in love with them? Because I’m pretty sure I just did.”

“I can look at the bad as something I had to go through to get to the good. You are my good, no matter what you want to believe. I’m sitting here, happier than I’ve ever been, because of you. You are my happiness.”

Kayden is still struggling a bit. He is seeing a therapist which is really helping. He is also working on re-establishing his relationship with his older brother, Dylan. The ghosts of his past come back to haunt him, though. Is he strong enough to face them?

I loved this book. Callie’s optimism and strength in helping Kayden was so inspiring. And Kayden, sweet Kayden. That boy should be a poet. The things he says. “sigh” This is truly a story of love overcoming all. That the two of them together loving and supporting one another was an unbreakable bond strong enough to go up against the worst of evils.

My favorite part of the book is their walk down memory lane. How Callie pulls Kayden out of the darkness by reminding him of the light, their light!

 photo beach_zps00386bce.jpg

This seems like it is probably the final book that will focus on these two. But not to worry, there are more books in the series planned. So hopefully we will get updates on their relationship, glimpses into their lives. But I feel confident that Callie and Kayden have found their resolution and have gotten their Happily Ever After.

“I am simply Callie.

And he is simply Kayden.

And we are simply us.

And it’s the realest form of perfection that’s ever existed.”

And, really, that's kind of the point of everything, isn't it? To enjoy life and have fun. I spent so much time never smiling, laughing, enhoying anything, and I feel like I missed out on so much. But that doesn't mean I can't make up for it now or for the rest of my life. - Callie Lawrence (p. 140)

It was a long, hard road for Callie and Kayden but I was happy with how things worked out for the most part.

And I'm pretty satisfied with how things are so I'm not sure that I'm going to read the last book...we'll see.

I'm definitely putting off Luke's books (especially after hearing what his trauma is) and I'll get to Seth's later (hopefully it won't have anything worse).

I have been meaning to read this book for years. I absolutely loved the other books in this series based on Callie and Kayden!

I think if I had read this one closer to when I had the first 2 books, I would have enjoyed this one more.

READ TWO, COUNT EM, TWO BOOKS IN TWO DAYS...I'M AN EMOTIONAL WREAK RIGHT NOW!

I wanted to take my time in reading this book, considering I read Violet's and Luke's story so quickly to read this one, because I wasn't ready to say good-bye.

Back to the statement in the beginning, I just couldn't stop reading.

Callie has come a long way although she will never truly forget what was done to her, she's in a place where she can move forward in her life. This is more towards Kayden's struggle. For years he was beaten by the hands of his father and was ignored and verbally abused by his mother. Trying to move forwards just as Callie has doesn't seem possible because of his parents who are living their lives while he struggles to live his.

Callie wants love and peace, without fear and more she wants that for Kayden. I loved her even more in this book for her strength and compassion. You believe and feel the love and strength they bring out in each other when they're together.
Kayden believes he's broken, with his skin scarred from his father and himself, believes he isn't worthy of Callie, the fear of becoming not only the boy he use to be but becoming his father. Never having a family, a true family, was something he was use to until he reunites with his brother. I found it interesting that even though Callie knowing what's like being in that dark hole, having his brother who dealt with his father support him. Kayden of course not use to love, now other than Callie, struggles to understand it.

These books were the greatest surprise I've read in a long, long, time. With a subject of rape, abuse, drugs etc. is a uncomfortable topic that isn't and shouldn't be taken lightly but needs to be brought to attention. This books might be fictional but it might give a light to those in the dark. Callie and Kayden's story might not be real but they're struggles are very real that REAL people are dealing with right now. Reading a story, real or not, about them conquering they're monsters and the possibility of a life full of love and hope can give that person strength when they have given up.

The Redemption of Callie & Kayden followed me every time I was in the book store. Ignoring each time, yet knowing it was calling out to be, I decided, with hesitation to read The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden. Buying a book without reading it first is a risk I don't normally take, since I might be spending money on a book I might not even like. However, this book had been following me and I needed to start listening. I bought the book with not preparation or know what it was truly about. This book was my Coincidence, Redemption, and my Resolution. It shocked me in the most wonderful and amazing way. I truly believe that books have power over the reader and it can bring people who are lost in the dark into the light. It did for me. I will never know what Callie and Kayden went through or anyone who went through something like that. The unbelievable strength and courage the victims have is astonishing.

In Callie's view, be your own hero and you can defeat the monster. Don't be a princess or a prince, be the warrior you are!

My Rating: 4 stars

This book wraps up the story of Callie and Kayden, nicely, despite not being the same standard as the first two books. Seeing the two of them in an established relationship is great and I love how the story has a happily ever after. You can find my other two reviews here and here.

My Thoughts:

Callie and Kayden are well and truly together in this book and watching them navigate life is so sweet. While their pasts are not erased and the author doesn’t act as though they are which I appreciate, moving forward is something they are working on and they do it really nicely. I love that they move in together and that they are so happy around each other. Their interactions are so real and honest and raw and it makes every interaction between them one I love.

I like seeing Kayden get to know his older brother and how his family issues come back in this book. I like that the potential for recovery is seen in his brother and that is a comfort for Kayden, even if he is weirded out by getting to know him. In all the interactions with his family make my heart break but I like the closure that he receives. I just want to hug him. He is such a great character and his progression throughout the series has been great.

Callie is so much stronger than when we first see her and her arc in this book is great. Her interaction with Caleb shows how much she has progressed and is one of my favourite parts of the book. I also love that she is writing as a part of her recovery and that she helps her roommate. (I kind of want Sorensen to write a story about Hanna). Seth and Luke are also shining stars as usual but you don’t see as much of them as I would have liked.

The writing in this book is fantastic as usual with so many beautiful quotes and such wonderful writing.

This book wraps up a lot of loose ends which is good however some parts do feel a bit unnecessary and drag on. While I like how it ends, the last chapter is a bit kitch and overly happy but I guess thats a happy ending. It fell a little bit short but it was shorter than the other books so fair enough!

All in all, a good ending to the series, in keeping with the characterisation of Callie and Kayden.

Recommended for: Contemporary YA readers. If you love Colleen Hoover, Jessica Sorensen or other styles like they write, you will love this book!

Quotes (Spoiler Free):

“I am simply Callie. And he is simply Kayden. And we are simply us.”

I really liked the way the author wrapped up the story of Callie and Kayden. This story was a lot easier to read then some of the Luke and Violet installments as their story was so dark and depressing. Not that this one didn't start off dark in previous books where we learned of Callie and Kayden's stories, but this last book was more positive than negative.

So Kayden and Callie are still in college. He is doing much better not cutting himself. Callie seems to be better with her bulimia. It's not even really mentioned more than once in the entire story. So these two are healing, but Kayden seems to have more issues now than Callie does. He's talking to his older brother, who gives him some information about his parents, (who fled the scene of their house once his father stabbed and tried to murder Kayden). He finds out his father is in the hospital and not doing well. He doesn't know how to feel about this. He's also excelling in football, but his father's voice is a constant haunting thing in the back of his mind everytime he plays. Going to counseling and talking to Callie seem to help.

So it seems Callie wants to move forward with Kayden and possibly move in with him, but she's having a hard time asking. Seth, her best friend is also in this book and he is very encouraging with her to get her to voice what she wants.

I really enjoyed this book and if you read the others that proceeded it, you will definitely want to check this one out. It'll give you a good sense of closure for both characters.

I love Callie & Kayden in this series, but my favourite couple is Luke & Violet, for sure. I like that Callie and Kayden's sotry had a resolution, but I found that this story lacked the same emotional punch than the first two books. I also didn't feel as much emotion as when I read The Certainty of Violet & Luke. The other couple seemed to be more damaged than Callie & Kayden, and I just felt that their story was more emotional overall.

I felt like things were unresolved between Kayden and his father. Kayden didn't have the opportunity to see him, or talk to him. I believe he should have had more closure there. I also would be curious to hear what his dad would say, and if there would be any closure for him. So, I wasn't enthused about the direction of this relationship. We hardly saw Kayden's father in this series at all, and I would have wanted to see more of him in this book.

Despite this being my least favourite book in the series, it does have its sweet moments.

I did enjoy this book, but it failed to meet my expectations. I would say it's still worth reading, especially if Callie & Kayden are your favourite couple in the series.

This is one of my favorite couples from Jessica Sorensen. Their story has been an emotional roller, full of angst and drama from the beginning, and this was the perfect ending. These characters are amazing. They have overcome so many obstacles, and I loved watching them grow stronger together, and finally find their happy ending free of their pasts. I have zero complaints about this final book. In fact, this book earned a big book hug when I finished it.

This book didn't really feel completely necessary. A lot of it was recapping and repeating parts from the other 2 books and this probably could have been condensed down to a few chapters at the end of the other book. I am, however, glad that there was resolution for Callie and Kayden with regards to confronting their monsters (although I would have loved to have seen Callie use her kickboxing skills on Caleb! lol!) and have loved this series overall.

This was a nice read, though a little too simplistic for what the characters were still going through. I think this book was written both as a love letter to the MCs and for fans of the series. Despite the formatting issues with the printed book, it was a full and happy ending for the stories of Callie and Kayden. If you liked the first books for these two, this book is a nice conclusion.

An appropriate reaction to the ending: Oh my God! Okay, it happening. Everybody stay calm. Stay f**king calm!
