Weak men insulted women to cover their fear. That's why brave men never did it.

—Wise words of Ebba-Viva

Jagger is def up there in my fav heroes of all time. No matter what situation he's in, even if he doesn't have the upper hand, he's still somehow in charge. I don't know how he does it but he's so nonchalant and effortless about it, it's sexy af. This might be my fav of the series lots of character development and ✨finally✨ my EbbaJagger ship has officially s a i l e d 🧡🥰🏴‍☠️ I'm so happy

I won't lie, it's getting very tiring putting in the same 34243 tags for all seven books in a series...

This is the book where the series goes dark. Our intrepid adventurers are stuck in Hell, and there's a death in the family which I'm still not 100% over. Ebba's innocence is gone, never to return (and no, I don't mean sexually, there are no sex scenes throughout this entire series and yet it's still one of the most fulfilling romances I've ever read).

I received a free copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.

Eternal Gambit is the sixth book already in this pirate fantasy adventure series. I've been really enjoying this series so far and with each passing book I only get more curious how this series will end and if everyone will make it out alive. The characters have collected most of the magic items they had to find, but now land in quite the desperate situation.

In this book Ebba-Viva, her fathers, Caspian and Jagger are stuck in hell along with an evil dead pirate and his minions. I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy the book at first as the whole stuck in hell plot line seemed a bit weird to me at first, but strangely enough it did work for this story and the more we learn the more it makes sense. And even tough they are sort of prisoners for a big part of the book, there is still enough happening to keep it interesting.

While this book has less adventure and action it's filled with reveals and more emotional and character development. And there's still enough to discover in this new place they're in and enough that happens to them that they have to deal with. They have to figure things out about hell and what Cannon's plan for them is. Then Ebba-Viva has to face the truth of what the amare (one of the magic items they collected) showed her at the end of the previous books and she has to come to terms with her feelings and address those. Which was great to see even tough I am sad she didn't go for the other guy, it was clear from the start that she would pick this one eventually. Then there are some new truths they have to deal with too.

After I finished this book I took a moment to think back to book 1 and how far everyone has come and it's just impressive to see how much the characters have developed. Ebba-Viva especially, she has really grown into her own. She has been through so much, but it changed and developed her into the person she is now. She knows her mind and really stands up for what she believes in and fights for the people she cares about. It's been wonderful to see her grow into the person she is now and also how she is ready to fight for the fate of her crew and the fate of the world. Her character development over the course of this series is awesome to see.

But not only Ebba-Viva has grown, also her fathers have changed and Caspian and Jagger have been through a lot too. Jagger changed quite a bit too and I have the feeling we will see more of that change in the last book. Then there is Caspian who has some big development in this book too. I like Ebba's six fathers and how different they are and I also like to see how Ebba-Viva's fathers interact with her. And how they changed throughout the series and most faced a lot of the truths and past they struggled with and this book continues than pace and shows us more insight in Plank's past.

To summarize: This was another solid book in this series. It starts with a bit of a desperate situation and I wasn't sure if I would enjoy the setting of this book, but it actually worked quite well and was more interesting than I would've expected when we learn more about this place. While this book has less action and is more stationary than previous books, there is still enough going on and there are some reveals, changes for the characters and truths they have to deal with. There is also some development on the romance part, which was interesting to see. It's especially awesome to see how far Ebba-Viva has come and how much she has developed over the course of the series. All in all this was a solid read and I am really looking forward to the last book in the series and seeing how it will wrap up this series.

Still on that Felicity binge. I can't believe I'm not bored of pirates yet.

Plot-wise this was mostly filler. The crew got thrown into Hell and stayed there the whole book.

That relationship development though? My favs Ebba and Jagger went from talking once a day to "thinking of cute mini-Jaggers with silver eyes" (yes those were Ebba's exact words).

On one hand I was like nah, slow down but on the other hand I was also like I waited 6 books for this let's get this wedding going.

I think this is my favourite book of the series yet, although I do keep saying that with each book I've read in the series so far.
Even though Ebba and her crew are now stuck in Davy Jones' locker I actually think it has been great for all of their relationships together and bought the dynamics of the group closer together as a whole. We finally get to meet Cannon and he is just as nasty as all the tales we've heard of him so far say he is. I can't wait for him to get his comeuppance and I hope Ebba is the one who gives it to him
In Eternal Gambit Ebba and Jagger finally (yes finally as I've been waiting for this for a while) take a huge step forward in their relationship. I love these two both as their own characters and together. I can't wait to see things progress further in the next book.
I think my favourite thing about this series as a whole has been how the characters have grown and developed, particular Ebba. In this book we really get to see how she has matured with the way she is dealing with all the various relationships around her and the situations she has to face. I love how the author has developed her and it is part of what keeps you invested in the story, seeing Ebba's growth.
I'm sad this series is almost over as Eternal Gambit is the penultimate book in the series. I've loved watching the story and characters develop and I will miss it. However, there is still one more book to look forward to and I'm really looking forward to reading it.
Eternal Gambit was a fantastic read and gets five stars from me. I loved it.

Eternal Gambit is worth the wait!

It’s going to be hard to condense all of my feelings and reactions to Eternal Gambit. This is the penultimate book of the Pirates of Felicity series. The imagery of hell (aka Davy Jones’ Locker) is so vivid , you can actually picture yourself there with Ebba Viva and her crew. This book sets the stage for an explosive finale in Mortal Trinity (book 7). However, so many game changers are in this book. You discover more about Ebba and her realization of her true love; you get a heartbreaking insight into Plank and his emotional journey. However , there is also a lot of humor in this book, especially Ebba Viva’s fathers and their parenting techniques. The book balances emotions in perfect sync and even though the last sentences had me in tears, I can’t wait for the finale and hope Ebba and her crew can defeat the pillars and good will win out.

My favourite so far!!!

I’m well and truly in the Jagger Tunnel!!!!
Just wow! Eternal Gambit is an incredible read and for fans of the series, it’s just everything we have been hoping for!! Book five ended on such a cliff hanger I’d no idea how the story would develop in the next book and while this story doesn’t maybe have the same level of adventure as previous books it does give readers a lot more insight into both the overall story and the relationships between the characters. I think my brain short circuited at that ending though.....the cliff hangers at the end of end book in this series have been jaw dropping....this one is the worst!!!!! I cannot wait to get my hands on the last book, this series is one of my all time favourites 🖤🏴‍☠️👩🏾‍🦱

You're not going to read this, are you?

Let's be honest. If you've read this far, you're not concerned with the reviews. If you haven't read this far, go back and start at the first. It won't disappoint. Not the book. Not the series. And most of all, not Kelly. So, really I wanted to use this moment to tell Kelly how much us long standing readers value her. I have read all your books. I feel like we have been together for years. I have loved your books since TTA. I don't see that changing anytime soon. I cannot say that any other author has kept me fully interested with their books for such a long period of time, never boring me. You never lose your flare and I doubt you ever will.

Great continuation

I don’t know how you’re going to top this one but I’m here for whatever you think ya need to do next!! Ebba is going through Hell literally and back to keep everyone together and more crap keeps trying to take her on....I have all the faith in the world in her and her crew. Caspian is gonna have to decide what kind of person he’s going to strive to be with one arm and not let it drag him down. And the ever dashing Jagger is definitely needing to see if the past will bury him in guilt over his tribes loss and learning more about his birth family or can having something new to focus on and fight for will pull him up by his bootstraps.

Why oh why does kelly do this to me??? She even knows she does it. At the end of the book she even says "to the readers please don't throw things at me." Its all because she left you with such an cliff hanger. The booked is filled with so much love of all different kinds. Ebba is finally coming to terms with her feels but will they be returned and will everyone be happy with the decision that is made. And let's not forget they are in Hell with Cannon and so many tainted pirates. All of her fathers are having to come to terms with their past whether they want to or not. Their are so many great quotes in this book you love and hate it since you with left wanting more.

Action packed book

Yaaaaas!

I have been waiting patiently for Ebba and a certain someone to get it together and finally in this book it happens. Although I'm still waiting, even less patiently than Ebba, for those kisses.

But seriously, SO much happens in this I installment and so much is still left to do. I'm on pins and needles waiting for the next book.

I'm trying desperately to not say too much and spoil any of the story but still convey just how great this story is. I'm so excited for it to be completed.

I received an ARC copy of this book but i have and will purchase all of Ebbas story.

I am so sad it is all over! I have read from the first book to the last and have fallen in love with almost all the characters. (Evil ones not in that at all) I love Ebbie and how she has matured over all the books. Realizations come to fruition without her really knowing what happened. This is one of the best High Fantasy books I have read in a long time. Lot's of surprises, adventure, danger and heart felt emotions. Don't miss this last book. If you have not read the others please go to the first one and read and go through them one at a time.

Trapped in Hell with her father’s and friends, Ebba is forced to accept that her life may be forfeit in this noble quest. I enjoyed the pit stop into Hell, but I wish the whole book hasn’t been spent there. I feel like we didn’t progress the story enough and I’m worried that the last book will be rushed. BUT, I’m super excited at how Ebba has evolved as a character and I love her and Jagger in this book!
Let’s see how this thing ends! Ahoy to book 7!

Favorite quote:
“There is always time to read,” Barrels said, sniffing. “Even when you are walking into hell.”

So true Barrels. So true! 😬

I loved this book! It may be partially because of blooming romance but overall I love, love, love watching these characters grew. Thank you so, so, much Kelly St.Clare for giving me an incredible pirate series that I didn't even realise I needed. I loved every single page of this book and am so excited to start the next one, the pace is incredible and so is the scenery, how does Kelly think up all the twists and turns that she does? Honestly would totally recommend to anyone who wants action, romance and humour/ sarcasm all at the same time.

Intense!

Holy smokes, Kelly St Clare just upped the intensity with Eternal Gambit. What a journey it’s been for Ebba, her fathers, and Caspian and Jagger. Ebba is fierce, Jagger is amazing. Even in the middle of their most challenging adventures so far, Kelly weaves in emotionally profound revelations of the depth of love and family and sacrifice. I can’t wait for Mortal Trinity!

That cliffhanger was so evil Kelly!!! I am going to be chopping at the bit until the next one. This was another beautiful installment to this glorious series and this one just made me SWOON for my favorite flaxen haired handsome pirate. I just fall more and more in love with each and every one of these character s. I also love watching Ebba grow and mature in each book. Hats off to you once again Kelly. I will be impatiently awaiting the next one!

Another one for the books ;)

So good. Ebba has to be one of my favourite FMCs ever.
The storyline is beyond solid, keeps you hanging on like nothing else and the answers this book gives us are mind boggling, but where there are answers there are also twenty more questions to replace them.

And that cliff-hanger...I don't know whether to love her or hate her for this....

Either way, I will definitely be reading the next book when it comes out. ♡

Talk about gutwrenching!

I don't know how, but the stakes keep rising. Ebba, her fathers, Caspian, and Jagger end up trapped in hell by their worst nightmare--a bloodthirsty captain bent on earning his freedom.

More reveals, character development and bucketfuls of nail-biting moments make this installment a big win for me.

And after THAT ending, I can't wait to find out how it all ends.

Alright the swear count was larger on this however the majority of the time when the D word and H word are used they are referrring the the place or people that leave within it. It unfolded some more secrets and the book left off on a cliff hanger.
