This book could have been much better if the same translator was used for the 1st book. Having read several books from a native English speaker in between volumes made it highlight this fact even more. Not to be too rude, but the outcome would have been better if you entered the whole text into a well known online translator. Any witty one liners were lost as the text would be some sort of 'bastardised' literal translation with key elements missing. This also applied frequently when talking about a key subject/point. The problem was the subject would often be missing which left you thinking you had missed something. Either that or the key point/element would be highlighted 2/3 paragraphs later. I hope a revised addition is made as this could be as good as the first.
Overall the series is a good premise. If a third was made, I will also be reading that one.
Tentative 4 stars. I really like the story, however like some of the other reviewers mention, the translation seems to be worse in this book compared to the first. It's a real shame because the awkward or sometimes unintelligible pieces really drag it down.
I gave up reading this because the translation was very poor. All the words are understandable but the English comprehension is obviously lacking. It felt like reading a book of 5 word sentences and destroyed the enjoyment of the story. I would certainly retry with better translation.
Poor editing and translation. I tried to read the second book, but I couldn’t get past the first chapter. Truly terrible, not the story but the inept staff you employed. I would definitely revisit this series once it’s been properly vetted, since the first book was enjoyable.
Would be 4 stars, but needs another round of editing since, while it was in English, the flow was off and all the translation errors caused me to stop for the day frequently - and I can read a book or 2 a day normally.
Really enjoyed book1 and this book continues the story but the English translation was terrible is some places. I hope the author can get a better translator for book 3 bc it is probably very good in the native language.
