Buchanan Brothers #4

If You Could Only Believe

Rate this book
Michael Buchanan was a sweetheart; until he wasn't. He spent his childhood being his father's favorite punching bag, and as a result, Michael's temper rivaled that of a psychopath's. It wasn't pretty. Michael spent most of his days avoiding intense emotions and situations, but as long as his family was happy, healthy, and safe, then Michael was too. He was also a virgin by choice. Michael wanted to make sure the women he loved would be strong enough to handled him, demons and all. When Sophia Martella tells him to turn around because she can't think when he's looking at her, he knows he's found the one.

Sophia Martella was a chubby, plain, weirdo with a genius IQ and no friends. She was also a virgin. Not because she was saving herself for marriage, but because she's spent her entire life being unnoticed by the world's male population. And, most days, she didn't mind. Sophia understood that not everyone could handle her unfiltered personality. But when Michael Buchanan forces her to attend a company party with him, it's everything she can do not to have a heart attack right then and there. He's Michael freaking' Buchanan, for Pete's sake!

What happens when Michael finally finds the woman of his dreams? Nothing anyone saw coming.

There's not much to add to my bio, I'm pretty boring...LOL. My favorite thing is to read and, last year, I decided to trade in some of those reading hours and try my hand at writing. The experience has been one of the best things I could have ever embarked upon. It's turned into a hobby that is fun and thoroughly enjoyable. When I'm not reading or writing, I'm spending time with my family or friends.

Michael is definitely my favorite Buchanan!! I wondered who he’d end up with, what kind of a woman was good enough for passionate, calm headed, anger issues Michael, and I wasn’t disappointed! Sophia was Michael’s perfect fit! I was so afraid he’d end up with some alpha bitch woman that would give his anger issues a run for their money- or some beautiful, rich socialite, and I was worried I wouldn’t like her. But Sophia was the exact opposite and I loved her!

This was my favorite brother, and my favorite book of the series. 5 Stars!!

Novella. Insta-love. Strangers to lovers. Dual V! Way better than the prior book, but Mike's (23) temper is really scary. Thank the universe, Sophia (22) can handle his brand of crazy. 🤷‍♀️

Aarrrgh this series is so great!!! I hope to see their future kids books 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

THE HERO AND THE HEROINE ARE VIRGINS.

THE HERO is OTT POSSESSIVE ALPHA MALE! He also a virgin by good reason because growing up he was having hard time with his dad being verbally abused to him so much and violence towards him and he also saw his brothers have good girlfriends with them. So it made him a virgin because he want to wait for the one for him.

THIS SERIES HAVE SUCH A GOOD FAMILY BROTHERHOOD STORY THAT ARE STRONG AND VERY COMMITTED TO THEIR WOMAN. SO I’M IN LOVE WITH THIS SERIES SO MUCH :’)

THE HEROINE is a virgin too because growing up she thought she was a ugly one WHEN SHE IS NOT! Growing up her mom was very bad to her and always say bad stuff towards her so it makes her believe that she’s not very good on the inside and out...

BOTH COUPLES MEET AND WHEN THEY TOUCH they feel A ELECTRICITY AND LOVE FIRST SIGHT!!!

•IT HAS SEPARATION but only for view days because a misunderstanding. And during those times the couples are very loyal and committed:)

•DRAMA WITH the heroine’s friend at work because the friend was jealous of her genius (the heroine was very smart and people at her work place knows it). DRAMA WITH the hero’s dad but not too annoying. NO DRAMA WITH OM OR OW.

•THE HEROINE pushes the hero away sometimes because the the heroine was having a hard time to realize how beautiful she is and how she can make the hero really loves her FOR HER.

•NO CHEATING

•SAFE LOVE STORY

•HAPPY ENDING

•NOT FAR EPILOGUE BUT There’s a fifth book about their future so i can read there about the epilogue :)

•NO VIOLENCE BETWEEN THE COUPLE. Only violence between the hero’s dad and the hero.

•BOTH VIRGINS

•HOT SMUT SCENES

**I’ve only known her for a handful of hours, but she’s the first and only female who’s ever made me lose control. And she’s the only female I’ll ever lose control over. I knew it in my soul.**

**I can’t recall feeling as much rage as I did when Sophia said she would only embarrass me if we dated. I wanted to pummel anyone who has ever made Sophia feel like she was less than spectacular. I couldn’t understand how she didn’t see it. I’ve been to her place, so I knew she owned a mirror. So, I just didn’t get it. When I looked at Sophia, all I saw was a beautiful face that didn’t need makeup. I saw a body lush, ripe that was made to be worshipped-by me, and only me, that is. And being around her was like rain after a decade long drought; refreshing and much needed in my life. Sophia was a one in a million.**

**“Sophia, you are what settles my troubled soul. All the beatings, all the abuse, neglect, superficial people in my life, all of it…it all becomes nonexistent when you walk into the room. And you’re out of your mind if you think I’ll ever give that up.”**

This was mediocre. I paid $2.99 for this novella. I would not have complained paying that much, but I found myself skimming and it was a novella!!
I had high hopes for Michael's story, but it was a bit bland.

★★★. This one was the best of the three i read. I don’t care for Aiden’s at all. Michael wasn’t as dumb as the other guys and he wasn’t as pushy. Sophia wasn’t as much as no backbone like the other ones.

MICHEAL and SOPHIA

I knew Micheal was my favorite Buchanan for a reason, and Sophia is the most innocent, sweet, awkward, quirky, and the perfect woman for this considerate, passionate, level headed, but with a hair-trigger personality, and severe violent anger issues man.

I know it seems like a recipe for disaster, but oh my, they work so well together. The passion flows, the dialogues are just too funny, Sophia’s tendency to speak her mind, adds so much flavor and hilarity to this romance and Micheal’s love.
This is, no doubt, my favorite book of this series.

Sophia is such a fresh character. Her idiosyncrasies, insecurities, personality is so much like a delicate wallflower, you feel the urge to protect her from the world.
Being a genius with a much higher ten average IQ, Sophia has always felt a little disconnected with the world.

She is anti-social, has no friends, interacting with people other than for work, gives her palpitations, she doesn’t stand up to bullies, preferring to stay in the background and do her work. Add to that, her being a curvy woman, rather than the model body, makes her feel inferior and undesirable.

(And her mom and sister, what a pair of unworthy little assholes. There is not one moment, where they don’t belittle her and make her feel like a waste. I really wanted to give them a bash over their head.)

Micheal is the head of HR, and over hearing a supervisor, bullying a subordinate, loading her with work, and speaking in a degrading manner, sets him on Sophia’s path.
In true Buchanan fashion, one look, he knows its special, but the minute Sophia opens her mouth with her frankness and awkward flattery, its game over. Sophia doesn’t know that her life has changed.

I love how Sophia’s verbal diarrhoea, somehow makes her the best flirt and her sarcasm is just on point. It’s so refreshing because she doesn’t mean it. She’s not trying to be anything but herself, and that’s what Micheal loved the most
“You have to know how good looking and imposing you are. You can’t honestly expect me to hold a conversation with you when you're...you...your eyes are green and all that.”

Micheal wastes no time. He immediately takes her to an office party as his date, and even introduces her to his family and his sisters, pretty much indirectly announcing to the world who she is.
“Yes. However, she’s just my date tonight, but only because I know she’d say no if I asked her to marry me right now.”

The scene with her feeling so weirdly gobsmacked at sitting at ‘The Family’ table is hilarious. I loved her interaction with them. It was just how I had imagined it after reading about her.
Holy. Oh. My. God.
I’d never seen such a stunning group of individuals assembled together at one time. These people were almost mystical and having them all together in one place should be banned as a city ordinance or something.

“Wh…ho…normal people don’t look like…” I swiped an arm indicating I was referring to the beautiful tribe of six. Did beautiful people automatically find other beautiful people to keep the world populated with beautiful people?

Her thoughts are just *grinning stupidly* and the Godfather reference. LOL

Even serious conversations with Sohpia turn light and happy due to her nature.
“Michael, you’re not fucked up. Of course, I don’t know you that well, so you could very well be a complete nutcase, but I don’t think so.”

In all the previous Buchanan brothers’ books, the men mess up in some way and must win over their women again. Their biggest enemy being their previous actions, but Micheal is battling years of psychological trauma, and Sophia’s genius mind.

I loved how Micheal makes Sophia feel about herself. The confidence he gives her, towards looking at herself in a new way, trusting him, making her feel safe, is what relationships should be like honestly. Everything else aside, giving a woman confidence in herself is pure goals in a relationship.

First, he forced me to go to that company party.
Next, he forced me to have to work with him the next tomorrow.
Then, he forced me to mingle with his family tonight.
And now he was forcing me to give myself to him.
Well…not exactly forcing, but what else did you call it when you felt like you didn’t have the power to resist or make another choice for yourself?

Micheal was abused the worse by his father, physically and mentally. His emotions come out in its full intensity. When Micheal feels, it’s almost like a bipolar episode, that has the potential to burn everything in its path. Its uncontrolled, sometimes violent, but always safe for his family.

Micheal rage takes over him only when someone insults Sophia, even if it is Sophia herself who thinks of her less than him in any way. That moment when he loses his mind over the way she speaks about herself in a demeaning manner, woah!
You need someone who looks like you. I’ll only embarrass you if you date me.”

The way he stood up for her in front of her useless mother and sister, showing them their place, and the beat down he gave his father! Oh-wow. So, satisfying! And what a perfect way to threaten his legacy.

If Mason, Aiden, and Gabriel raised the bar when it came to sex, Micheal blows it away. He annihilates in his quest to claim Sophia, a woman who can handle all his flood of emotions and tell him what she thinks without judgement or fear.
The slight edging of fantasy dub-con, actually works here, and only adds drama and intrigue to this completely opposite personality couple.

And Micheal Declaration of love and his feelings:
“I knew that whatever made you the way you were, I wanted to possess that.”
“Sophia, you are what settles my troubled soul. All the beatings, all the abuse, neglect, superficial people in my life, all of it.it all becomes non-existent when you walk into the room. And you're out of your mind if you think I’ll ever give that up."

PS: Shane and Micheal’s relationship is too sweet. Its pure siblings’ bond, but somehow feels beyond.

This was the brother I was most looking forward to . Michael intrigued me in all the other books always had the mysterious persona but at the same time loveable and always giving love advice when he had no love life himself and always being correct in the love advice he gave. So when this book came out I knew I had to read it and OMG was I not disappointed. I knew it would take a special someone to steal Michaels eye and heart . Sopfia is everything I thought she would be I loved her and omg I wanted to smash her supervisor in the face, ( and that's me being nice about it). Michael took one look at sopfia and Michael knew this girl would be his game changer, but with her insecurities it will be hard to convince her that someone that looks like Michael would want someone that looks like her, but soon she will realise what is meant to be and things always happen for a reason. Loved the final book of the series cannot wait to see what she writes next..

So good....

I read book one this morning and had to buy the other three immediately. Because I fascinated by the brother Michael, I jumped to book four. I loved this story. Two different people who have survived either physical, verbal, or emotional abuse find each other and learned how to be a couple while others try to tear it down. There is a lot of comic relief in the dialogue that made me laugh.

On another note, it bothers me that the author has to start every book explaining she is an independent author who does almost everything herself to publish her books and has to apologizes for grammar and spelling errors. Why does she have to apologize? We choose to read her books for the creative content, not her grammar skills. I personally skip over the mistakes if there are any and I am a retired English teacher. So to reviewers are trying to drag an author down over spelling and grammar, why don’t you write a book and let’s see how you do? Also remember when you are criticizing, some people are only happy when they are tearing others down. Maybe you are the problem.

I have such mixed feelings about this.

I loved the first book so much. The second was okay. The third pissed me off.

I was so looking forward to reading Michael's story and while I still enjoyed it, there were things about it that really bothered me.

1. I loved Sophia. I loved her lack of filter. And while I understand having self-image issues, she said she was "fat" at a size 12. Give me a fucking break. First of all...it would have been awesome if she'd actually been fat, but a size 12 is NOTHING. And it left me wondering if the author is fatphobic.

2. Painful sex. Hell, no. Allowing someone to give you pain and use your body like that because "they needed it"....bullshit. That's abusive.

3. What's with the Buchanan men and their "I'll do whatever I want to you" shit? Fuck that.

Have some self-respect, heroines!!

and 4. Why did nothing happen to one of the antagonists who SURELY should have been canned??!!

This was a sweet read.

Not as hot as book 3 was but definitely a nice love building story. I was hoping for more wild crazy sexiness but it was more on the mild side for this Michael character then I had expected.

Either way I loved it! I really enjoyed this series immensely! The errors are an issue but the storyline and characters can over ride them if you are a patient reader. I’m going to finish this series with the last book which is a revisit of the main characters Mason and Shane. I hope for some more of all the rest too. But honestly Michael was my favorite of all of them. Enjoy!

I think it’s safe to say by now that the writing has gotten increasingly worse since book one. I know most books like this aren’t meant to be taken seriously, but the writing no makes the whole story read like a joke.

The out-of-nowhere reverence for Shane has gotten so out of control, it’s ridiculous. And unbelievable.

I was most excited about Michael’s books because I like my guys in OTT tropes to be reaaally intense. With that tease for cnc-kinda smut, I was also excited cos whoop a side of dark! Yay! Yeah, none of that here. Michael blended in almost identical to his brothers. Very disappointed. Ah well.

🔶 insta love
🔶 triggers : domestic violence from H father towards H. h mother was verbally abusive towards her
🔶 no condoms used/ also no mention of birth control
🔶 no ow/om drama

It's a nicely written romance.

it's a nicely written romance, funny and sweet. Characters are interesting. I just get tired of all these heroines who have low self esteem, and think they aren't worthy of these rich good looking men. This is not the authors fault. it's a sweet book.

I want one

I want a Buchanan!!! These brothers are super hotness. Michael has his demons and found his calm in Sophia, his curvy genius. Its interesting how family can be the most cruel towards you but a stranger can come along and love the dirt you walk on, the way Michael did Sophia. Love this series

4 ⭐️

I liked this one way better than the last (hello fellow curvy heroine with insecurities!) but only 4 stars because that man could have seriously benefitted from some therapy - no judgement here.

– Dual pov
– Dual virgin
– Curvy heroine
– No cheating or OM/OW drama
– HEA ending + epilogue
