The pictures of the hedgehog were cute. The story was a bit longer than what we usually read, and the start was slow. We learned a lot of interesting facts about hedgehogs - like they like to eat dog biscuits crumbled, and bugs! We also learned about the RSPCA and the work they do. Toran's favourite character was the baby hoglet because he was so cute. His favourite incident was their visit to the RSPCA because of all the animals described there.
It's a cute little "animals in mild peril" book that also explains what the RSPCA does to rescue animals, and describes how to make your garden hedgehog friendly. It's not a masterpiece or anything, but it was a quick read, and definitely adorable.
Great early chapter book, fiction story but filled with great animal and wildlife facts. Easy reading, gentle topics and fun for any child who likes animals. Nice pictures as well to break it up.
I continue to be impressed by this lovely series about different animals rescued by the RSPCA. Great read aloud for Philip, calm, peaceful, bedtime stories.
