This is a lovely series for pony mad and unicorn loving children, I like the fact that it does feature boys and girls even if so far the rotating protagonists have been female.
This is a second year in the Unicorn Academy following on from the events with the first group of children including Sophia and the 4th of the Second year adventures. As such there is a spoiler for the first year stories in the very last chapter which is worth being aware of if you intend to read in order.
Freya wants to be an engineer but she is worried that she hasn’t bonded with her unicorn Honey so she is secretly making a robot for her, but the time spent apart is weighing heavy on the relationship. Whilst trying to keep her plans secret she stumbles upon a secret room and tunnel that is being used by the mysterious cloaked figure!

This has a quiet message about not neglecting those who care about you due to hobbies or new interests, that friendship takes effort even if you mean well like Freya did spending time making a gift for Honey, the gift doesn’t mean as much if the friendship is lost.

Ok, so Freya, in my opinion is a bit annoying because she always wants to work on her invention. And then it got even more annoying because of Matilda, who can't keep a secret.
Despite this, I liked the part where Honey discovered her magic, and also the part where the pumpkins exploded.
Nice pictures too. I especially like the one where all of the girls are sat on top of the haystack, near the end of the book. Freya has blonde hair, but maybe a bit too blonde. It's super bright on the front cover.
Overall, it was a good book.

i love how freya finds a secret room and works in there. i also like how at first, honey is sad that freya is not spending time with her but they work it out in the end. i also love how they make the idea of having a birthday party for honey and how they discover secret tunnels that you can enter through the fireplace in the secret room - and i think that's awesome, and that every book should have a secret room.

Bedtime book for the youngest who is about 9 years old. She said she'd give it five stars "because it was a really good story even though it was kinda scary sometimes". Pretty standard Unicorn Academy book. I'd recommend it.

I like this book because it is one of my favorites .

I love to learn about unicorns and read a book about them too.

The best part is when Freya and Honey bond together in Honey's birthday.

This was the better book of the series that both parents liked best. Book did not follow the conventional plot of ALL the rest of the books...

Read this with my 9yo and she gives it 5 stars for the mystery, the adventure in secret places, the fun in the plot, and the theme of facing fears. I really enjoyed this one too!

In this, the tenth book in the series, Freya worries that she will never bond with her unicorn, Honey. To aid in the process, she's been constructing a robot that will bring various tasty treats to Honey, and she plans to give it to her as a surprise for her birthday. But the other girls in her dorm are concerned that Freya is spending too much time alone and not paying enough attention to Honey. When Freya finds a secret space in her dorm, she moves her invention lab from the barn to there and lets Matilda in on her plans. But the secret room leads to a tunnel, and it's clear that bad magic is afoot and that someone doesn't want the girls to have a party or to have fun. The simple plot with a dash of magic and relatable characters will make sure this series continues to appeal to middle grade readers, especially those who love unicorns. My favorite part was when Honey discovers her magical ability and can run swiftly. The illustrations let readers see some of the action described in the book.
